Although I know this is conference for DEVELOPERS, I really disappointed there are not a single hardware announcement, primarily I really expected it to at least announce a single hardware.

Are you seriously saying that an hour of Apple music, Swift playground, and emoji/messaging is geared toward developers?!?
The State of the Union keynote is for developers. This one is mostly for the press and consumers.

I guess this is it. No hardware. This so far has been awful. While for sure there are nice feature on the software, 2hrs and that's all, it's pretty sad.

don't you know by now? wwdc is always about software... hardware announcements come later in separate events

Down a buck eleven so far and still dropping. Generally stock price going down AFTER a major conference isn't a good sign, Snaps.

Happens after every Apple conference. Market is waiting for Apple to announce something that (a) the market can understand and (b) was not already leaked in rumors. When that doesn't happen, when there is no "one more thing", the stock drops a bit.

What about all the Phillips home smart lighting stuff, wait to get that stuff or go ahead and get what's on the market now? Hue I think it's called.

Way too much criticism of Swift Playground. It's meant for newbies and kids -- every cut away they showed of the audience during that demo was of the kids and teens attending. You have to start somewhere and I think there's a fair amount of bitterness by current developers that something like this wasn't around when they started. ;)

It's because we love Apple that we point out that there is something (a lot!) wrong.
You know what? It's customer feedback, theoretically one of the most important things for any company.

Spot on. Some of the oldest and most faithful fans are voicing thier opinions. Only a fool would ignore the feedback from the fans that made the company great. The switchers, will go back to Windows or android when the next best thing comes along.

This was definitely one of the most disappointing WWDCs. The WOW factor that used to be a given was sorely missing.

In my opinion, Apple will continue to do well on iOS and Macs but they will no longer be the dominant force of nature they once were... Google (Android) and MS(Surface Pro/Book) will continue to erode the Apple market share faster than ever...

More people will question the reason for paying "Apple tax" before they invest into the Apple ecosystem because the "It just works" magic has been slowly fading over the last few years.

Hate to see this happen but this is exactly what has been happening and it will only accelerate...
Feels like they are saving a lot for 10year iPhone anniversary in 2017.
Really looking forward to iMessage update. Like the copy and paste feature, but was disappointed not to see developments in mail (attachments for example), calendar ( such as adding attachments in iOS), split screen for iPhone, drag and drop between apps through split screen. Would have liked the ability to also annotate on web pages, screen shot full webpages. However the saving grace is we could see some of these features for when they unveil iphone 7.

The stock was down when the market opened (as was the rest of the market). It's hardly moved all day. Apple stock has never jumped after a keynote, not even when Jobs was presenting.

I got the feeling like they are not trying anymore, and happy to copy the competition , and it's all about one device , the iPhone, in China

Good luck to the apologisists on here , you will be working overtime today.

Outside of the iMessage changes (which I think Apple needed to do) what was specifically geared towards China? I can't think of anything. For me the only disappointing thing was no specific software changes for iPad but I wouldn't be surprised if we see something this fall. Not all software changes are announced at WWDC.

Swift playground if great. What's lame is that it was the last thing shown to a room full of adult devs. People were expecting apple to finish on a high.

Great thing to launch at an education keynote

What you state has happened to the tech industry over and over again through out history (IBM/Microsoft etc).... Dominate players fall to new ones. The next Apple might just be getting started in someone's basement.

Obviously most of the developer stuff will come out in the next few days:

I'm hoping for some major Xcode improvements (possibly rename it macCode now??) especially around stability
Better support for the Swift language (refactoring)
Improvements in testing, UI testing, BDD support, multiple simulators
Xcode plugin integrations with things like github, slack, atlassian, etc
A way to get rid of iExplorer
Network comms inspector to get rid of Charles

Thats just some of the things I want as a developer :(

I did not ask for any HW. I expected serious improvements for macOS and especially for the iPP. 20 minutes on messaging and 0 (ZERO) on iPP (also known as a "PC replacement")!??!

lol whatever kid some of you are simply ridiculous and never happy. Go to android and take your negativity with you

and just off the top of my head, side by side safari in iPad is a pretty cool addition
