cause all you are doing is complaining that you didn't get what you wanted. so go to a system that can do that and if you are so unhappy with apple and their advancements then you shouldn't spend anymore money with them.

you see, it's exactly this nonsense that cause people to believe that the average Apple customer is a fanboy, part of a cult.
I am complaining, therefore I touched a sacred cow, therefore I should leave.
No. The fact that I like Apple's product doesn't mean that I can't be disappointed with many parts of it. And it doesn't mean that I can't be disappointed by an underwhelming keynote. I like the ecosystem, and I like (for example) my iPad Pro.
That doesn't mean that I have to accept everything that I am fed with by Apple, and it doesn't mean that if I don't like something I should change.
I am the customer, I pay them, I decide what to like and what not to like, and I decide if it is worth moving to a different ecosystem. The day that it won't make economical sense, I will switch.
For now, I can just see the dangerous path, and I would love to avoid the trouble of switching until I can.

Really surprised there were zero hardware announcements, but at least that leaves the door open for some surprises in the coming weeks. But zero hardware at WWDC? It really is a software developer week.

Please, please, please let some fancy new hardware blow the tops off the industry!

at least in terms of iPhones, they stopped announcing new iPhone hardware at WWDC a few years back when they moved it to the September (old iPod) event.
For many years they announced new hardware at Macworld events, but since the demise of that, they have shuffled between using WWDC, and September events, with a smattering of special events thrown in for good measure.

Hardware keynotes are absolutely random, and have been since I have been paying attention in 1999. It is one of the HUGE reasons that sites like MacRumors got so big, the anticipation and rumors of new releases is never quite Regular with Apple.

WWDC was never a hardware focused event. Especially not when Apple was at Macworld. Again Apple telegraphed that there would be no hardware so I wasn't expecting it. Perhaps people need to manage their expectations better.

Why was it disappointing? Because no hardware was announced? Give some specific examples?
it was disappointing because people left the event feeling disappointed.
it's not a pros and cons list here and then you choose whether or not you feel disappointed..

Geez Louise People they announce days ago no new hardware. I would Imagine people on here like their Iphones and Ipads thats why you own one, and everything they showed today makes an already good and solid environment even better , so whats the problem ?

what the HELL happened

am i the only one dissapointed with ios 10? it was pretty underwhelming

The whole bag was a tad underwhelming if you ignore the immense amount of work and refinement that's gone into what they're delivering. It's pretty easy to find the icing on the cake not to your liking. You need to sink your teeth into the cake itself to enjoy the full flavour. The deep integration, even at the lock screen level is well though out. There's going to be some very interesting app experiences that Android can not match across the OS.

But that Siri icon.... ugh, seriously, what are they thinking? It's not even an icon, but a smudge of waveform colours inside of a circle. Bring back true iconic designs, Apple! Stop with the circles already, please!

Swift Playground, cant wait to show my neph.
all the new messaging features, yawn.
Opening Maps, Siri etc to Devs is great, but also increases their hacking profile.
Personally I wish the WWDC keynote was less cheerleading and more "hey check this out DEVS".
Was there even any mention of a Swift or Xcode version rev?

That was a lot of good stuff. Home looks great. Watch speed improvement is dearly needed so very happy to see that. Siri sounded a lot better, but I wish she laid of trying to sound cute, which I feel can get annoying with frequent use.

it isn't that your complaining, it is what and how you are complaining about. There was several things addressed today that solve so many of the complaints that were legitimate. The speed improvement on the watch alone is enough to be excited about for AW owners. the linked compatibility between all devices is an amazing feature as well on its own. Not sure what you should be complaining about just form the improvements alone improves all products across the board preparing us for new hardware to come in september. But whatever keep complaining and then saying that you like the company's products enough to stay. Make sense...

So I'm guessing Mac's will be announced in September or October. I really liked the new iMessage features, Apple Pay for websites looks great and being able to log into a Mac with my Apple Watch would be great.

I noticed the new Photo's features, I'm guessing this will be to work well with the iPhone 7 later in the year, the object detection could be a feature on the dual camer of the iPhone 7.

Looks like Apple Pay for the web requires Safari. That's a real shame.

I love gadgets and I did not feel satisfied with this presentation. Some of the stuff was really plain boring. Apple Music now looks like a mobile website than a music app and no macbook pro or mac mini announcement to spice it up like the Steve Jobs legendary "one more thing..."

I was seriously most impressed by the watchOS 3 reveal and I don't even have and have never used an Apple Watch.
I resisted the Apple Watch much longer than I've resisted most Apple hardware, mostly because I felt that the appropriate response to its shameless Guccification of Apple should be a collective stare of repulsion. I felt that the 10K model was the hardware equivalent of that infamous app that was pulled from the App Store in the early days, an app that cost a fortune but didn't do anything, it was just a home screen icon to let people know that you're rich. The very notion that Apple thought that a glorified China-made iPod Nano would command a Rolex price tag because they dipped it in gold was deeply, deeply offensive. Pretty much all price tags related to the Apple Watch are offensive, unless we're talking about the Sports model.

Once I caved in, I quickly started considering it an essential gadget. I love getting twitter/sms/news/mail notifications directly on my wrist. I love the health/workout features and the weather app. I love using it as a remote for ATV and Apple Music, or telling Siri to start the timer when I'm cooking. And the battery life wasn't the deal breaker I expected.
The only real downside is that it's so goddamned sloooooooow, but they appear to have addressed that now.

Did you watch the debut of OS X when Jobs showed it off in 2000? The focused on trivial things like the dock, moving windows while seeing icons, watching videos in the dock, colored buttons to close or manipulate windows, showing slow-mo genie effect. Etc.
The Dock is a major user interface element effecting everybody's workflow. Try to say the same about Mickey Mouse stickers in Messages. I want them to polish minor annoyances which might look trivial on stage, but make for a refined user experience. But I'm no longer sure if all the changes to iOS make for a better experience.

what the HELL happened

We can finally read status bar again. Right now if you have busy contrasty album art, it blends into the status bar.
Personally I find the color changing on the music app quite irritating as it is right now.

Just try to spill some positive comments in along with the negative so that the tone comes across as conversational rather than adversarial. Apple fans are naturally perfectionists and will never be satisfied, that's not all bad. And having criticisms is a starting point, but criticisms alone do not make for useful conversation.

I liked the idea of my iPhone unlocking of my computers, I hope it's really done securely. I don't use emoji, I use words. The emoji focus was disappointing to me.

Here's a gift for those preaching that WWDC should not present new hardware:

WWDC 2006: Mac Pro
WWDC 2008: iPhone 3G
WWDC 2009: New MacBook Pro models (13-inch MacBook Pro and updates to the 15-inch and 17-inch MacBook Pros) and iPhone 3GS
WWDC 2010: iPhone 4
WWDC 2012: New MacBooks (updated MacBook Airs and MacBook Pro with Retina Display)
WWDC 2013: New Mac Pro and New MacBook Air

xoxo

Who said "should not?" What many of us said is that it's a bad idea to get your hopes up because as you pointed out, 2011, 2014, and 2105 did not have hardware. And now 2016. But guess what will happen next year? Everyone will be waiting feverishly for new hardware.
