Apple needs to abandon the iPhone, watch, and ATV and go back to selling one thing--Macs. The company's market share and profits would skyrocket and we would get better computers.

Just get a 5 inch android phone. Without the huge apple bezels it isn't much bigger or unruly than a 4 inch iphone. When are the next nexus phones due to come out?
I don't know man, I really like having the ability to use my phone with just one hand. Comfortably that is. The 4,7" iPhones already prevent me from doing that; and I haven't got small hands either. But apart from that, yeah, I'm very impressed with the Nexus 5X. The hardware and overal appearance doesn't seem too bad either.

They don't need to abandon those products, they just need a hardcore team who's always on edge, like they are with iOS devices.
Remember the days when Intel bent over Steve to create a specialized chip for the original MacBook Airs?
Remember how superior the G5 was compared to the Wintels of the day?
Save for the 2016 MacBook, all the other product lines are generations behind Wintel's offerings.

Guess I'm just getting old, but the message updates are garbage. Must be a millennial thing. I don't care about stupid effects on my messages. Now i just have to worry about receiving that crap from someone, I'm certainly not gonna be sending it out.

It's not just you, Millenials were already doing this stuff for months and years now on snapchat. And while it might be nice to have these features available in Messages, snapchat works seamlessly when I want to send dumb thing to my friends with Android phones. This is sort of "meh" to the crowd they were targeting.

Also, I hate to break it to you but if you were born in 1983 like your handle suggests, you are, by most charts, considered a Millennial. You are just in an older cohort. Today you have become the thing you despise. Sorry.

Really surprised there were zero hardware announcements, but at least that leaves the door open for some surprises in the coming weeks. But zero hardware at WWDC? It really is a software developer week.

Please, please, please let some fancy new hardware blow the tops off the industry!

People keep repeating this but forgetting that until ... 2011 (?) they announced new iPhone hardware at WWDC. They also announced Intel Macs in 2005 (or 2006?), and before that, the PowerMac G5 in 2003. Hardware has gotten announced at WWDC many times before, and I doubt they would have let some lame principles about saving WWDC for software only announcements get in their way if they wanted to release new hardware.

So Macbook Pro in September's event then? It's expected to be the same price as now right?

Agreed. Most likely that whatever hardware will be out next, it just was not at enough of a "ready state" to be announced this week. I'm betting that there will be "something" announced before all the kids are back in school.

Maybe I have deep rooted abandonment issues, but... After switching over to Mac in 2005 I feel disgusted.

Coming from the "Mac Generation" where my peers and I lived through the transition from Windows 95, 98 and XP into the OSX world I find it beyond frustrating when looking at the current hardware lineup. The last thing myself and many others desire is to switch back to windows. That being said with the pace of technology, few people are going to purchase hardware that is already 1...2 years old. I would be less offended if one of the product lines was updated, Mac Mini, Mac Pro, Macbook Pro's. To have no updated options (feasible for a work environment) at a time when Mac competition is at an all time high - creating touch display, amazing form adjustable, beyond retina, extremely powerful, capable, expandable machines... It saddens me. A computer is so personal, the experience of using a great machine can be so rewarding. A great computing experience can drive productivity and creative. The Mac experience to me was about more than just getting it done, it was about being happy to interface with the tool to do so. It was about smiling with every key press and mouse stroke, knowing that every part of the tool you were using was thought out and designed to leave a rewarding impression.

Skylake, Win 10 here I come :(

I know my iMac will keep me going for a few years but I might be following you after that if things don't change.

I fell in love with Mac in early 2009 with my first MacBook (which still works) and then even more with my iMac in 2011 and work Mac Pro's in 2013. Sadly the computers I fell in love with don't exist anymore it seems. The only one with a decent amount of power is the overpriced Mac Pro and even then the components are 2 years old.

Macs have a premium price tag, I get that and expect it for the quality but there is a limit. I can get a top quality PC with brand new Intel and Nvidia parts for under $3000 EASILY but to get compatible power from Apple I would need to spend $3200+ on a Mac Pro and the hardware is older.

I don't care about form factor, thickness, portability, looks, etc. I care about power. My dream, that will sadly never exist, is a tower Mac Pro (similar to the old style) with proper new components. Skylake processors, NVDIA 1080's, the whole nine yards all running macOS. I would throw whatever money they want at that just to get proper parts and not have to use Windows.

I hope they get a price drop especially for Canadian which has strengthened since Apple raised prices due to lower exchange rate.
Sadly that's never how things go for the CAD. Companies say the price increase is because of the exchange and then never change things when we get back to par. It's why our games cost $20 more and have since the new co soles launched 2 years ago, even though our dollar was fine during that period.

Apple have been pretty good about reducing prices due to a strong cdn dollar.

Both of those are wrong. They told us exactly which iOS/macs on a slide, and they DON'T give releases out, except to developers, at WWDC.
My internet connection was cutting out so I missed parts of the stream. I missed the slide showing which devices get the update. I'm sure they used to give a point update. Not the new OS but a point update on the current software. Say like 9.4 or something. I know 10 will not be out until late September.
[doublepost=1465866340][/doublepost]anyone know what macs are supported?

Developer access to Siri, Maps and other APIs. Messaging improvements. Contextual keyboard suggestions. Faster response times in WatchOS. Improved Maps features. Siri on the Mac. Improvements in the Photos app. Improvements in TvOS. Auto Unlock on the Mac. Universal Clipboard. Desktop and Documents folders synchronization. The Home app. Phone interface integration for third party VoIP and messaging apps.

No, and no.

You listed a number of things that they announced today, what you didn't specify is what exactly you liked about them? For each of those features you listed, I could list a number of problems that will most definitely arise - causing the whole ecosystem to basically reek of half-thought out, unpolished features.

But I will wait to expound on the same till I know more. Not trolling, just curious.

I thought the same thing and I have smaller hands. It just a learning curve. The back arrow on android also makes it a lot easier to use one handed. Plus it's nice having a larger display. Just don't go bigger than say 5.2inches and you should be ok.
