Over the last three weeks, I've been building several PC part lists on pcpartpicker. I can make a screaming (overclocked) 6-core i7 machine with dual M.2 drives and 32GB of 3000MHz DDR4 ram, and paltry 1070 GeForce graphics card for $2,200. And it's all upgradeable. ...the price won't change much when Intel releases the new chips and mobos later this month. :)
Don't forget to add on your 5k screen!

So what rumors are left to wait for any more till next year? They released almost all hardware news at this point....

It's a STARTING AT $5k iMac! Actually starting at $5450 when you factor in tax. Add at least another $200 for AppleCare. More like $6-7k iMacs with real world configurations.

Pros drop thousands of dollars on equipment so this is on the low end of the expenditures.

I suspect the people complaining about the $5k price are actual pros.

I would love one of these new iMacs. No way I hold out for that pro. As beautiful as it is, I don't need all of that power to do word, email, basic video editing.

So tell me why somebody would buy a new Mac Pro when you can buy this? And why would Apple invest all of that R&D into a machine that sells a few hundred thousand units a year?
Ask Apple. They said a new modular/upgradeable Mac Pro is coming. I don't see what's so hard to understand.

Yep, nobody will be buying these. They'll sell a couple thousand. You can buy a new car for not much more.

That's exaggerating. A new car is at least $25k for the average I4 Japanese 4 door sedan. You can get a SS ceramic Rolex Submariner ND 114060 for about $6500.
