One of the most underwhelming WWDCs ever though, I'd say. The HomePod looks okay, but they really needed to swallow their pride and price it as low as possible. Echo is massively popular because of how damn cheap it is.

Audio Quality (if it is as good as they say) may justify it for some (okay me ;) ) . Though that is a super valid point you make!

It's always good practice to judge something without having actually tested it first.

FINALLY, you dumb people on the internet are learning! :)
Of course you should always judge something before testing it. Your gut instinct is usually right about stuff 90% of the time.

How long have you been following Apple? Apple's MO has never been to compete on price. If this device has superior sound quality then it should be more expensive.

All of this machine learning focus when SIRI and Spotlight are so terrible, it sounds like just marketing to me. I really hope there is some engineering behind it, but if so, why are SIRI and Spotlight so bad?

Exactly. She got a new voice but is she actually "learning"..

Bc she can't even close apps currently

People are using Amazon devices to control their whole homes, and at $39, you can put an echo dot in every room if you want. HomePod will hurt SONOS, but isn't going to displace Amazon's lead in the smart speaker space. I wonder if a HomePod Express / HomePod Mini is in the works?

No that's for the best you can possibly buy for no price limit, and it costs more then that too.
The majority will be happy with Sonos quality levels, oh and B&W is included in the super high end mega expensive premium pricing tower speakers.

I was basically trying to say that their is no price limit for sound quality. Good sound is more expensive than everything else unless someone is buying one of those halo 100" TVs that Sony, LG and others tend to display at CES that cost nearly 6 figures.

Hmmm I am very impressed with Apple now.
I liked the SW and HW - too bad I am not living in US and having money to throw at them but BOY I WOULD if I would have them :)

As an avid Sonos and Apple user, I find it hard to justify putting in a HomePod if it doesn't integrate with my existing hardware.

Perfect ;)

I have the Sonos all over, 2 play:1s, playbar & sub, 2 play:5s, so a HomePod wouldn't work for me unless you can attach it to your Sonos system using a Sonos connect.
Sonos is adding Alexa support soon, supposedly. If I can set up a couple of echo dots or an echo in my house in addition to the giant pile of Sonos speakers I have, that's a much better option than this is.
