And Google totally ripped Apple off with Android. FACT!!! Deal with it! They also ripped off the digital assistant and high PPI (retina) screens. Nobody was even thinking about that before Apple released them.

Emmm, no. Apple doesn't make displays.
LG-LU1400 2008 PPI 333
Toshiba Portege G900 2007 PPI 311
Xperia X1 2008 PPI 311

The first digital assistant was Wildfire in 2001.

Just reviewing the full High Sierra feature list...it's weak: "Quick Family Setup"...really?

I don't feel like their "refinements" even amounted to anything, could they not say the OS takes up 5% less space, or uses 10% less RAM etc.?

It's disappointing that HomePod doesn't have a screen as was rumored for that price. I bought two Echo Shows for only $10 more than I would pay for that thing.

That and it just looks like an in home "Siri". Did they mention anything about 3rd party support? Looks like a terrible buy based on what I saw.

Fair enough. In that case, looking at a great match
Like many, I will have to test it out at a local store first to see if it will match my needs. Otherwise, I may adopt an Echo dot and run some sound sticks or my Audioengines form it.

I would like something more compact and wireless, but it isn't always an option for me.

I have to laugh at the WSJ blog asking whether sound quality drives consumers. Well this consumer cares more about the sound of a speaker than being able to talk to it. Especially when I have a phone and tablet I can talk to.
