I've had an Echo for about a year, and have really enjoyed it. But sound has always bugged me, and the fact that integration is near none existent. This might be a pick up for me, in December.

I was really hoping for more on CarPlay. The lane and speed limit stuff in Maps is fine (welcome to every GPS ever in the last decade Apple), but I'd hope for something better than the dull and empty black screen with icons. How about some expanded integration for 3rd party apps? Again, Maps is serviceable but I'd prefer to be able to at least TRY Google Maps or Waze. Perhaps use the Sirius XM app in the car? Though that last one MIGHT be more them trying to force people to buy the far pricier car radio sub instead of the internet streaming only option.

Overall CarPlay works better than my cars Chevy MyLink crap that just locks up and wigs out playing songs or dealing with bluetooth itself and the minor update to improve app switching is nice but overall it still feels like a total half-assed implementation.

I thought the actual keynote was ok. I liked the watch OS updates but I wish we heard more about improvements to SIRI. Also why does IOS on Ipad get so much more love than on the Iphone when the Iphone is what is driving revenue.

Os updates are interesting, though I thought the macOS name was a joke until it became apparent they were actually serious. Hardware updates make it obvious Tim is spending too much time yapping about politics instead of running Apple. Very underwhelming and disappointing.

Mr. Cook is doing an outstanding job.

Do you feel the same way with all of the other major tech CEOs in silicon valley speaking out as well on various issues? Which is part of their (and Mr. Cook's) job, by the way.

How would you have him spend his time differently? Be specific.

All I wanted was an upgraded MacBook Air with retina display... they don't even try anymore, going to jump ship. And lol iMac Pro starts at $4,999, the only thing Apple does these days is introducing higher price points
That's essentially what the base 13" MacBook Pro is (an updated Air). They lowered the price so I'd just go for that version.

They did upgrade the GPUs in the 15" touchbars. Radeon Pro 555 and 560. Not much information available but man I wish they had just waited instead of releasing the new MacBooks back in October.

When was the last time that Apple announced the next iPhone at this event? That will be in September, like it's been for the last number of years.

Right or wrong i think people figured since it marked the 10 year anniversary we could see it at wwdc...

no big deal to wait a few months really

Dark mode relevant?

Interesting...very interesting. Although iOS invert color mode isn't anything to write home about, using iOS in inverted colors mode sucks almost as bad as just letting my eyes get permanently blinded by the white/off white theme.

For an example of how to truly do inverted mode look no farther than Microsoft. Their high contrast themes are incredible and work all though the entire OS including the web browser, and it doesn't invert pictures which makes it actually useful. High contrast themes is one of the prime reasons you will never pry my surface pro out of my hands.

The worst Apple keynote I ever watch since first iPod Touch keynote. Nothing impress me... ....

OMG! Truly wasting my time.
- High Sierra - is this a joke!
- iOS 11 - What!!! That it!
- iPad Pro 10.5 - the only seems ok announcement.
- HomePod - lol what is the next PodPod.

iOS 11 Beta is out on dev portal.

  • Person to person payments and Apple Pay Cash are available only in the U.S. on iPhone SE, iPhone 6 or later, iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation), iPad Air 2, iPad mini 3 or later, and Apple Watch.
Ooo, this sounds hopeful. I saw a post somewhere that ios11 wasn't going to run on the old iphone6 and iPad mini 4 - this makes it sound like I've got one more upgrade in my devices. Crossing fingers that's true!

what's the point of announcing a faster iMac that will be shipped in Decemeber ?

trying to stop the justified negative they are getting since Tim plays SJW ?

I would hope it's sarcasm! I thought Tim Cooke was going to say iPhone when he said #6. I was in shock when it ended with no iPhone announcement!
You're in shock because they didn't announce the iPhone at the non-iPhone event? The iPhone event is in a few months.

How long have you been following Apple? Apple's MO has never been to compete on price. If this device has superior sound quality then it should be more expensive.

No, it shouldn't. Look a those little speakers that Anker makes -- they are affordable AND sound better than anything else at their price point and they even beat more expensive speakers from JBL, for example.

For 350 bucks, it's just not enough if you sound somewhat better than Harman Kardon's Cortana speaker or Amazon's (big) Echo speaker. For 350 bucks, you can buy an Echo Dot and still have 200 bucks left that you can spend on a great sounding third party speaker (which is what I did, just for the record).

The main reason why HomePod will sell nonetheless is the Apple Music integration -- which is something Echo buyers don't care about because they most likely have Amazon Prime or Spotify accounts already. People who buy a speaker with Cortana will have their own reasons for that choice, but they won't care about Apple Music either.

The killer argument against a 350 bucks HomePod: Amazon's Alexa can be extended by home made skills - heck, I can even install a Kodi PC at home, deploy a "personal" skill for free on the Amazon cloud and remote control my own server via my "personal" Alexa. Without a pay-for developer membership. And when I look at my Alexa app, it feels like some new third party skill is released every minute - and that includes a lot of skills for geographically local services. That ecosystem is what really makes Alexa so fascinating. And, yes, the simple fact that 50 to 60 euros is a VERY affordable price. Also, any third party that's interested can license Alexa from Amazon and build it into their hardware. Alexa's an open platform. HomePod is... a voice enabled speaker for Apple Music.

Yeah, very sad. With Waze now officially in beta with an android auto version it's getting REALLY difficult to stay with Apple.

Wow, there is literally nothing in this keynote that interests me. The iMac Pro is probably the best thing but geez, Woody watch screen? More iOS stickers? I remember when this company was a tech leader. Now they're just pandering to children.

Kind of but not really. They don't typically do anything huge in the WWDC keynote. Honestly, the iPad features added to iOS are some of the biggest additions to iOS in some time.

Yeah that's marketing but the Hitachi drives are almost as reliable as are the better WD drives they've used. I haven't had a Time Capsule failure.
Me neither, was never afflicted by the PSU issue either. Its not marketing though, it’s lies.
