No I have $200 in amazon credit that I was hoping to use towards a better ipod touch (I've still got an old/failing iPod video 30GB) and no way I'm spending it on something that should be $150 by now. (If they had made it 16GB for $199 then I might bite)

Hopefully this event being light on the meat means they've been putting their time & effort into something bigger... like a tablet...

I wanted to buy a touch but now I don't know if I will. All that was upgraded was the capacity. So I'll be using year old technology and paying a brand new price. That makes sense. NOT.

Yeah but the nano appeals to about 80 MILLION MORE PEOPLE than the touch.
I don't agree that they shouldn't have updated just the nano, but they are playing to their most popular ipod base.
I am just glad Steve is back. That's the biggest news of this event.
I was not expecting much since I was never planning to buy an iPod in the first place.

I think Apple needs new leadership. These worthless media events are absurd.
I'm guessing they still want to differentiate the iPhone from the iPod touch. I bet they make a lot more on iPhone subscriptions than they do selling the iPod touch out right.

this is true, but the touch did get hosed on this one.. that's all. iTunes 9 looks pretty sweet though, and the nano has some new tech in it.. but there is nothing revolutionary about the hardware at this event
Clearly the reason that only the iPod nano has the camera and other features is because of those manufacturing issues.

Because a huge segment of users buy this for working out at the gym. At the gym there are TVs with radio stations you can tune into to listen. Adding FM to this makes perfect sense.
