They didn't talk about new stuff in 3.1.
iTunes lp is win for me but what are the prices? Is the feature viewable on my iPhone?

Oooh..

iPod firmware 3.1.1 just appeared in itunes. Downloading now...

I'm sure most don't care, but I was hoping the rumors of iTunes supporting Blu-ray drives would be true. Sadly, it appears Apple simply may not want Blu-ray to compete with their iTunes store :(.

agreed. but blu-ray doesn't compete. physical media vs. digital/downloadable are two very different formats, issues to incorporate. they still have dvd players, why not upgrade to blu-ray and just make it happen. i would buy a mini in a second if it could do blu-ray. especially now with photo and tv show syncing through itunes, it's almost a new apple TV with all the function of a computer. just one more step . . . blu ray!!

I mean, for whatever reason they opted to not put the camera in it, but they are not going to update the iPod Touch line-up again in two months. It would screw those users who bought a iPod Touch 3.0 over significantly if they did iPod Touch 3.5 in two months. I'd say like it's been thought of before, they saw no reason to add a new feature as they have no competition in the market, except in Japan really.
I'm interested in seeing the disassembly pictures to see if all they did was keep the old back but have the spot for circuits for the camera on the new logic board. That'd be telling.

I was all psyched to get a 16GB Touch to replace my 3G nano!

After this, Its either 16GB Nano w/ camera and radio for $179
or 32GB Touch for $299

I think the Nano is the clear winner until apple slaps 16GB in the $199 model!

Yeah but the nano appeals to about 80 MILLION MORE PEOPLE than the touch.

I don't agree that they shouldn't have updated just the nano, but they are playing to their most popular ipod base.

I agree, I misread the post that I was commenting to. I am very disappointed in the update. I still have my 1G and was hoping to see new features that would make me upgrade but nothing. I may get a 2G or an iPhone and us it as an iPod.

It sucked. This is getting to be all too familiar. This is the best a $150 billion company can do ?

What do you want them to do every year? You want to revolutionize the world every ****ing year? You've bitched at every one of these things, why do you even comment anymore?

WE ALL KNOW BY NOW THAT THE SEPTEMBER EVENT IS IPOD UPDATES AND ITUNES UPDATE. WHAT THE **** IS IT THAT YOU PEOPLE DON'T GET?

yeah, that'll be the day.

this forum is full of whiney little children. talking just to hear yourselves talk. go play outside kids.

Seems like all the people here complaining about the complainers are MR newbies. Hmmm

I was just about to say that. It'd be very obvious what their intentions were if they rip one open and there's space for a camera.

I think this just points out the difference between the platforms. The Touch has been positioned as a mini-computer that is also a gaming device. And a good way to consume video content.

Seems like the Nano is the flagship iPod. Without Wi-Fi, Safari, Apps, and the like, the Nano needs features that will keep buyers in that platform. So, here comes the video camera, FM tuner, built-in Nike+, etc.

All of this makes sense to me.

EXACTLY!!

Sucks for consumers, but business wise it makes sense to differentiate your products. Although, I have to say, the touch being able to play games and access wifi and app store is all they really need to differentiate it. Seems like a bit of a stretch to do it this way. But I do understand the principle behind it.

Oh my. Apple is so generous, a $30 price cut on year old technology. Adding a camera or GPS on the Touch would've killed off any chances the Zune HD had. Now, the Zune HD is actually looking like a good alternative.

What is truth?

So, now the question is; will we see a new iPod Touch with camera when the "camera problems" have been resolved ...or... was there NEVER an iPod Touch with camera (at this time, anyway) and the "camera problems" were another bogus rumor to cover this fact up?

The latter is certainly possible, but I have to wonder where all the 3rd party cases came from? Producing a case design is not cheap.

Seconded, I mean Microsoft's events are so much better.

pfft

I was really looking forward for the ipod touch with camera . But than it seems like ipod touch user get screwed badly today. To those of you say ipod touch will have camera. I don't think its soon. It should be in the next year music event . Cause ipod touch have been given the 64 gb update and stuff. I don't think they will release like 2 or 3 month later for the camera. It would piss the people who bought the touch recently . So sad. I was about to sell my 1st gen ipod touch.
