What happened to the delay because of production difficulties? That's the reason there's no camera in the touch right now isn't it?

I mean, for whatever reason they opted to not put the camera in it, but they are not going to update the iPod Touch line-up again in two months. It would screw those users who bought a iPod Touch 3.0 over significantly if they did iPod Touch 3.5 in two months. I'd say like it's been thought of before, they saw no reason to add a new feature as they have no competition in the market, except in Japan really.

Maybe they are coming out with new tv hardware as opposed to just a software update. I did think though that something would be announced today regarding it.

there might be another event soon, but remember, there were reports of iPod Touch's having camera flaws. Maybe when they release it they will release a new Apple TV and the rumored Mac Tablet? its not the end of the world that there is no camera on the iPod touch but at the same time, I really was looking forward to it.

Touch is dead meat

I think this just points out the difference between the platforms. The Touch has been positioned as a mini-computer that is also a gaming device. And a good way to consume video content.

Seems like the Nano is the flagship iPod. Without Wi-Fi, Safari, Apps, and the like, the Nano needs features that will keep buyers in that platform. So, here comes the video camera, FM tuner, built-in Nike+, etc.

All of this makes sense to me.

Wow, the Nano got a massive bump. YouTube video uploading will be huge, the speaker will sell loads (despite me dreading it on a social level) and the FM radio fills me with untold glee.

But the Touch seems to have been utterly hosed, just as the iPhone was, for new features.

Dear Steve - next iPhone/Touch to have an FM radio please. Hell, a DAB one ideally.



Sounds entirely plausible. Just as I think something went horribly wrong with the iPhone at the last minute leading to them not making any case changes.

YouTube uploading isn't directly from the iPod. It's from iTunes. You can upload the video to YouTube after your sync your videos to your computer.

Music lovers can now shoot video wherever they are, view it on their iPod nano and use their computers to easily transfer their videos to YouTube

I couldn't care less about the iPod touch not having a camera. I still fell that since the touch is so close to the iPhone that Apple is purposely leaving off some features to swing people towards the iPhone.

The nano looks pretty nice though and I am now tempted to buy one, even though I already have an iPhone with video.

Looking forward to 3.1 too.

That's my guess. I think the nano is the star today. It's a pretty hot little package but I want a touch. Maybe when the tablet is released the Touch will get something too???

Well the event is over, looks like no camera in the iPod Touch. Totally surprised the Nano got a camera though...

iTunes 9 is something I'm looking forward to. The sharing feature will be really awesome with my home network.
