Seems like all the people here complaining about the complainers are MR newbies. Hmmm

Nope, no astroturfing to see here. Move along. ;)

Me, I was hoping to see Apple stick a knife in the Zune HD before it even launched. I'm surprised to see the lack of a camera in the iPod Touch.

Personally, I still don't see anything compelling about the Zune HD (HD radio? Seriously???) compared to the vast iPod ecosystem (hardware and software), but a camera and possibly GPS would have been a death blow to the Zune.

cameras in the nano but not in the touch?? really apple?? I was gonna upgrade my 1st gen touch this update but no camera is kind of a deal breaker. Yeah yeah i know it holds more and has an updated chip.........

1) Itunes 9 is live and ready to download.

2) For those who haven't upgraded to the 3.0 software for the touch, it appears the price has dropped to $4.95 on the touch software update page...

Thanks. My sister was thinking of buying a Touch and I told her to wait because they would probably double the memory for the same price. Sure enough that's what they have done. So either she can get a 32 gig for $100 cheaper or she can get double the storage for what she was prepared to pay in the first place. :D

I personally am waiting for a 100+ gig Touch. I have a 80 gig Classic.

What doesn't make sense is that a lower-end model has something a higher-end, significantly more expensive model doesn't.

It absolutely makes sense..... not from a customer's point of view though.

Apple needed to keep the nano from becoming obsolete.

What I don't get is that there's only a $30/ £20 difference between the 8 GB and 16 GB iPod nano. They should've just made it 16 GB at $169/ £129 and not bother with the 8 GB model.

Also, why no mention of taking photos with the camera anywhere. Hmm...

Oh my. Apple is so generous, a $30 price cut on year old technology. Adding a camera or GPS on the Touch would've killed off any chances the Zune HD had. Now, the Zune HD is actually looking like a good alternative.

hey, newbie...

go get your zune... your comment adds nothing to this thread.

did they say the touch was going to ship immediately? my guess is with rumors of production issues, they will delay shipment for a couple weeks after order, then when ready, push them out the doors with an announcement that the touch has the camera. they just didn't want to publicly acknowledge a problem with assembly.

I think you are right. There must be some credibility in the rumors about production issues and I can't see them just dropping the camera altogether.
