Please add a dark mode…please add a dark mode…please add a dark mode! Though if they do this I won't be able to resist the urge to install beta software on my daily driver iPhone X which is a terrible idea.

Haha I am in the same boat. I have told myself and promised my significant other that I won't jump on the beta train this year. If they release dark mode for iOS though, it's going to be very tempting.

Looks like none of the old covered banners before the event? I miss those....

My gut tells me there will be a lot of complaining on here after this event. Remember to set your expectations really low. I’m seeing a lot of: “hope there’s new MacBooks, a refreshed Mac Mini, refreshed iPad Pros, an iPad Mini” etc. If you expect nothing then you won’t be as disappointed. I used to do the same every year but I’m going in this year expecting nothing too drastic. It usually ends up being the same every year though (well in recent years it has been) and I’ll come back here in around 2 hours time seeing a ton of complaints about why we didn’t get this and that. Also, remember that it’s a developers conference which is supposed to focus on software. Yes, we’ve had hardware announcements in the past but that doesn’t mean we’re guaranteed nor promised new hardware, especially not at a developers conference.

So yeah, set your expectations low and you won’t be as disappointed. Pessimism is better than optimism when it comes to Apple these days. You might even be surprised depending on what is announced. Who knows.

It really is looking like we are not getting any hardware, since the store is still up. Maybe they will wait until right before it starts, but I doubt it.

Hoping there is some mention of 10-bit color (capture & display).

It may be a subtle mention, but it's impact could ultimately be the BIG thing out of this WWDC !

AAPL went Wide Color (i.e., their Display P3 color space) in March of 2016, so Deep Color (i.e., 10 bits) is way overdue !

BGR10A2Unorm is the #1 format to keep in mind ... doesn't use up any more BW than 8-bit BGRAUnorm.

10-bit requires HEVC encoding, which AAPL added support for in the iPhone 7 family.

Please add a dark mode…

I tried a beta* - the muted screen colours were OK but when I asked Siri a question she just started crying, all of my iTunes playlists got replaced with Goth/Emo stuff, autocorrect inserted random profanities in everything I typed and some of the new emojis were really, really disturbing...

Time Machine just popped up a dialog saying "All is ephemeral and shall return to dust".

It was great to see the startup knell back, though.

(* more of an omega, really...)

iOS 12 needs to do this;

- Revamp and totally update the horrid outdated Notification system across iOS.

- Create an AoD ( Always on Display ) type of thing for the OLED iPhone's. Right now if your leave the room with your phone on the desk, and come back, walking next to the phone, you have no idea if you have a missed call or missed e-mail, text, etc... you have actually activate the screen yourself by either Face ID or Touch ID to check. But with AoD it would be so much convenient and nicer.

- Revamp the UI already, the homescreen with the grid of icons, is so 10yrs ago. Allow me to place an icon anywhere on the screen I want, like the bottom of the screen, don't force icons to all be bunched in a row one after the other starting from the top, let me choose where I want my icons to be on the screen. Allow some basic dark themes, allow icon packs.

If all Apple does is add new emojis, and some other minor stuff, but does nothing to address the horrible notification system or other bigger things, then this company has lost their way. Thank God, Android P beta 2 is so great right now. I can't go back to the dated feel of iOS without some big revisions.

That's too bad. I was hoping we would at least see AirPower today. Oh, and that AirPods wireless charging case. It has been what, 9 months since they were announced?

Seems that anything they “preview”’ like Airpower etc, takes forever....

I see what you did there…lol.

Either they're changing to showing off things earlier than normal, or they're getting worse at shipping on time. Not sure which. Probably the latter?

One doesn't need a gut to know that there's going to be a lot of complaining. There's ALWAYS a lot of complaining after WWDC. :p

Regarding this "software only" thing. Apple has a history of announcing hardware at WWDC. Hint: when was the 10.5 iPad Pro announced? But if it helps you to think this is, and always has been, about software, rock on.

As for adjusting one's expectations, why? I expect Apple to "wow" me... to announce products and services that I need that I didn't know I need. Will they disappoint me? Probably. So what. Mature people can handle disappointment properly without having a meltdown.

Yes I want a new Mac Mini! (My 2012 still works fine but I want something with faster graphics and Thunderbolt 3)

Yea I'm ok with my quad core 2012 mini as well, but I would love an updated one that brings back a quad core CPU, updated graphics card and TB3 (that way I could use an eGPU if the graphics card is lousy)
