Locked phone? And that was it? Disappointment. Great device, but it is something that has to be available to EVERYONE, not just a range of customers, even if it is the largest network.

I agree that the whole contract lock with Cingular sucks, but if they sold it solo, probably would be tacking another $200 (at least) on to the price.
That's extreme.
Though I agree it's dumb if this is your only option for iPods now (or when it comes out, rather)? Jumps from 80gb space to 8gb? Yeah, feature packed and all, but what about those that don't want all the network features.. what about those that just like carrying around all their music? Are they left behind..?
All those people who said, for years and years, that "Apple Computer would not survive" were right. I was prepared for surprises today, but not for a renamed company!

I don't think that is true.. until Apple can come out with a iPhone that can has an 80gb drive and costs only $300-$400 WITHOUT a contract than there will still be a place for the Ipod.
And there's something wrong with the iPod video? It plays tv shows, music videos, etc, yeah, I kind of want it to be widescreen too, but hey, it's life.
Is this phone a new beginning they're talking about?
yes, its a new market, and im sure apple will NOT upgrade iPod to similar feature to keep the attraction of this phone, sorry, iPoders.
