Maybe just me but i'd rather they didn't announce the phone today but rather make a special event for it and release it on the day. They should have have done the tradition iLife/iWork/Leopard pitches today and maybe release the 12" MBP and updated Mac Pros. That'll would have been very ideal. Oh well.......

Amazing how quickly we all went from crazy excitement to disappointment and anger.

When Jobs renamed the company I think everyone realized that .... its obvious who Jobs is in bed with... little gadgets, not computer. And it really is dissapointing for all of us who love OS X but cant stand how this "FUTURISTIC" product is going nowhere. Mac computer have nothing innovative in them. 10.4 has been around for years and it looks like Leopard is more than a couple months off. It looks like all their innovation over the past 5 yrs has been in iPods and Phones. Right when innovation tapered off around the intro of the nano for the iPods, the Phone took precedence. They probably just switched to Intel so they wouldn't have to do as much development. Intel does all the heat testing and ****... they just takes the chips that fit.

I'm sorry but I am PISSED. I like Apple software, which means I have to use Apple computer. But instead of making them the best produts they can be, which would be easy considering all the features WIndows players have been pulling out (easily copied) they are sitting on their hands and playing with phones.

Someone needs to figure out a way to port Leopard as soon as it comes out. Cause this is just getting ridiculous.

This is a revolutionary product. This is only the first step, remember. Eventually, there will be ones with bigger storage and the ones with less storage will be cheap.

No, it's an evolutionary product, nothing really revolutionary about it. They only thing it can do that some other device can't already is the multi-touch screen. That's pretty slick, but it's something that's bee coming for years, we've all seen the demos of it, this is just the first consumer use of it. Other than that, they've taken a lot of tech and rolled into one, nice easy to use product. It's the evolution of the phone, not a revolution in communications.

That simply can't be the end. Certainly Leopard has to be mentioned at some point, no?! If not, that's a very bad sign with Vista coming out for consumers at the end of the month, the fact that we weren't even given an update on Leopard or about when it will be out...

Does this mean they put all their eggs in one basket and threw most of their R&D budget just into the phone and away from other things, like Leopard?? The phone is very cool and I think it will eventually do great, especially as technology improves (battery life, capacity, any kinks) but with or without the word "computer" in their name, people are expecting Leopard to compete with Vista, and we still don't have any more specifics than last time Steve talked.

Come on, guys and girls. You have to have a long range vision. Computers will soon be iPhones, mainly because of Apple.

You have a point there. No more of these big ugly laptops :p. The bright side of having Cingular exclusivity is that I won't get one for a few years and it will be cheaper by then, or even better at the same price.

I am extremely pumped at the potential of this phone, it is just not something that will be mine for a long time though, so it is hard to be drooling over it right now.

Thats a long wait for the phone...Im very excited about it, and if it is as good as it seems, is going to be the true convergence device.

That being said..June is a LONG way off.

11:10 am thanks for joining us - the keynote is now over

Okay. iTV is cool and the iPhone too.
But no leopard or iWork?

Of course not, it just means that Apple is going to wait til later to talk more about the stuff in Leopard.

If Leopard is as revolutionary as Apple has hinted at, it would have been too distracting to have the iPhone unveiled as WELL as the super secret Leopard stuff.

This is probably close to the truth. For the home user, the computer will soon exist mainly as a server for getting media to our TVs and for syncing our iPhones. The iPhone will be where we do most of our chatting, listening to music, emailing and surfing.

People are never happy!

All anybody has been moaning about is "When is the iPhone coming out" - and now Steve has spent some time really getting together a REVOLUTIONARY (not of this evolutionary bull*****) you're all complaining.

I've never heard anything like it. Maybe there IS an iLife update on the apple store - just wait.

I wanted to see some Leopard, but honestly, the iPhone will sell more Apple Computers than Leopard ever will in the long term.

This is a typical business tactic..DONT GO HEAD-TO-HEAD with a market leader. Gates just did a huge Keynote about how great Vista was, and it looked pretty damn good in there too. Apple would be "me too" if they talked about Leopard today.
