I'm pissed cos it's not available till 2008 for me. Even if I get one imported, it's going to be locked on Cingular. SJ did mention tight network integration. Time will tell if that is true. What possessed them into thinking carrier partnerships? :confused:

Look its terrible for the consumer who doesn't want a phone. They are over there wasting their energy on phones when I want to features in a tablet. THAT would be something. I looked and this thing and said brilliant, multi touch, accelerametors, proximity sensors. There is innovation. New ways to use stuff in applications. ITS ALL WONDERFUL. Yet I want it in a tablet not a 3" screen. What good is this sweet trick of pinching to zoom in or out when its on a 3" screen. I'm sorry but that technology better come out in a Apple Tablet soon, it would be so easy to implement after all the research they did for the phone, it would just prove how mcuh they have given up on the computer buisness.

Name one feature the iPhone has that some other product isn't already doing, other than multi-point touchscreen.

Not so much, the major motivation right now is gaming. Unless gaming gets old, they won't abandon 15.4" laptops.
 
First thought: hope a 3rd party releases a stylus.

The price is fine, it's just too bad I have no need for a phone, and already have an iPod with far more storage capacity for music, photos, and movies.

I expect the 2nd gen version to get a bump in storage capacity.

It's a shame there was no bump for the Mini, no new displays, no TV, and no software announcements. At least the iTV is coming. Too bad I don't have a TV. :p
 
Really? No software updates/previews/etc? Will iLife/iWork updates be on display at the expo, just not talked about? I understand this phone is neat, has some neat technology and software, and I suppose that a portable do everything computer is a good vision of the future, but we're living in the today too.

Oh come on. Just because they don't throw this completely brand new technology into every possible product doesn't mean they won't ever use it. it seems like a safe bet that now that Apple has it, they will start putting it in other products as well.

You say it is "terrible" that Apple is making a phone, but the reality is that this phone probably has a wider market, and aside from that, the technology behind the tablet you described probably wouldn't be there without Apple developing it for this phone first.
