Nice. Hope they release soon. My wife would not want me to join the beta program.

We've actually made sure that you can use the beta AND the stable release version at the same time for JUST this reason :) We want people to be able to help us test the latest and greatest and make sure the app is as great as possible, but not have to also always be using a buggy version.

When you download the beta, it actually shows up on your Apple TV as a separate application. So if you want to play with the new stuff and help use test it and give feedback and contribute to the app, you can do so while the stable version is always available working like it should.

Feel free to sign up for the beta here: http://goo.gl/forms/N9oWaqwd1y

Thanks!

So glad you like it!

Yeah, DRM is not supported right now. The process of getting and implementing support for DRM is very very lengthy and involved. We're looking at it right now and have plans for the future to support it, if it is financially viable. It's very complicated.

Right? I'm on FIOS myself and was surprised to see this happen. A few months ago FOX mandated that all of their channels get set to the copy once bit. This was a bummer since a lot of sports have ended up on their FS1 network.

Yes, TWC is regarded very low in the world of CableCards because of this. This effects TiVos as well since it means you can't stream between your TiVo devices. This is just another reason we'd like to support DRM so that TWC customers have the ability to use Channels as well and have everything on a single box.

This is not true. While we're exploring it, it is not currently in beta and will not be supported in a release version any time soon.
any plans for rewind and fast forward ?
and full tv guide

Great app! It was exactly what I was looking for. I hope support for closed captioning is included at some point. I would also like to see channel details such as signal strength, resolution, and audio added. The ability to watch one channel, while seeing the info for other channels would be nice too. Keep up the good work!

We're exploring everything and committed to making this the best tv experience we can make it with what we have.
Is rewind and fast forward even possible on the Apple TV ?

subtitle is included in the beta now but it messes up the video when on

If you mean seeing guide data to browse to another channel, you can do that now by tapping or swiping left/right.

This will be even better in 1.2 when it's released very very soon. Hope that helps!

Great. I submitted a request.

Does anyone have any videos to share of the app/experience with the setup? Im really curious as to how it all works via the apple tv.

I just purchased Channels. Great app. Some channels play back smoother (higher frame rate) than others but I can't figure out why... I didn't notice this in WMC on a htpc but I'll have to investigate a bit further.

Edit: Also, not liking the tap to change channels when flicking through what's on. It should be a click of the trackpad to change the channel.

Feature request: Clicking the trackpad while watching a channel takes you back to your previous channel.

That's good to hear.

Now, I'm not sure what the issue is but I have confirmed that the judder/not smooth video is something with the app/Apple TV. For example, the football game on Fox is playing back fine while the game on CBS is very shaky.

Thanks for the info... One question about the beta, how is it installed? Side-loading? Testflight?

I'd be all over this if I knew if Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia had DRM. It's literally the only channel I need, but FiOS support doesn't seem to want to give me a straight answer.

Only premium channels say DRM for me

HBO doesn't but hbo2 and other sub HBO channels do

FIOS in LA
Mainly FOX
FXW
FS1,FS2
BTNHD
FOXBN,FOXNEW
BTNA1,BTNA2

My Sports Channels are ok.

I do not have HBO or others. I have them separate directly from Apple. I.e. HBO Now and Showtime.

Can you see if NHL Network is copy protected too?
I really do not watch sports much. But looks like I do not get the NHL Channels at all (587 or 835). So could be my package. But what I said before is all that I saw with DRM. I assume you know there is a Native NHL App on the Apple TV but I believe there is a subscription fee with it. I did the $99 NFL Native App for others in my family. I played with it and it was pretty nice. But like I said, I am not a sports fan.

Doesn't appear to be in the French App Store
That's because Zattoo is only available in Germany, Switzerland, Denmark and the UK. I would presume, as I don't have access to the Apple tv, that Zattoo would only be available to download from one of those countries stores. If you can get it, make sure you use a DNS changer to make it show the Swiss channel list which has the most channels.
