the "real" liverpool?

A bloke goes into the John Lennon Airport and manages to eventually get into the departure lounge where his flight home is being called. All around him there are overturned tables, smashed windows, computer terminals broken, upturned chairs and crowd control barriers lying on the floor.
"Christ, what's happened here?" he asks one of the ground crew.
"Oh yeah...", the steward replies "Absolutely hopeless .... we had the Liverpool players in here this morning filming the new Nike ad".

my fav lfc joke.

Man says to a scouser outside a church: "what would you do son if Jesus came to Liverpool?"
Boy:...thinks a moment....'Thats easy, stick him up front and move St. John to inside left'

Though with jesus saves....maybe he should be the keeper ;)

heard Owen's kid is due soon, glad hes not splashed it all over the papers like beckham did...

Oh by the way, where is the LFC supporters club in NY?

Wouldn't surprise me to find all the Man Ure fans are PC users, they always go for apparent performance over style and creativity...

Mind, old Van NostrilBoy has been kicking up a storm this year, but all the times I've seen him, no bu**er wants to challenge him, look what Hamann did to him and Scholes in the Worthington cup, a mighty performance, we always play better with Didi on the park.

I'll be very interested to see what the boss does in the closed season, is Cisse still coming? I can't figure why Smicer is still on the books, one fantastic goal does not a player make, and he's had too many average games.

I really like Heskey, sure he's a bit of a donkey sometimes, but he clears some holes for Owen, Murphy and Gerrard, and his size scares defences all over the world. Still not sure of Dioff though, could come good, but hasn't settled into the Premiership at all.

Did I mention I've got tickets for the Chelsea game?:D :D

owen's preggers???? ( i mean his girl, not him, obviously) good luck to 'em :D

the LFCNY supporters club, is, currently residing at Fiddlesticks, which is one of my fave pubs, the girls that work there are all Brasilian or Argentinian (which made it interesting during the World Cup) and they're all stunning, and I get on great with 'em too ;) Fiddle's is in "the village" aka Greenwich Village. We might be moving, not sure yet though, we had a meeting last night in a possible location.
we have a site :)

yeah, that's a classic joke that one :D

haha, i think Heskey has skied more than he's scored lately, but yeah, when he works hard, he's great. I think he needs constant pushing from Gerard though.

You know what mate? you have a 17" PB AND tickets to the Chelsea game, um, why am I talking to you? hehe ;) :)

Yeah, but you've got a MacRumors mug and you live in NYC, can't be all bad can it?

I worked out of Green Street Studios and Electric Ladyland in the 80's, I was there for about 5 months, mostly I was in LA. I haven't been back since 89, I guess it's changed a bit.

Great city.

HAHAHAHA, that is very true mate. speaking of which, must be time for another cuppa :D

hmmm, thinking ahead here....the LFCNY supporters club sorts out a trip every october (usually) back to anfield for a game (or two if there's a euro game on too), maybe all you lot here should fly on over for a weekend or something, catch a game with the lads here, it'd be a good crack. (and not too expensive either, good points with the woman too, "fancy a trip to new york luv??" just forget to mention the game until ya get here haha)

Now that sounds very tasty, my otherwise sane and delectable wife has an aberant affiliation with Man Ure which (to her credit) stretches back many years, life in our house can be a bit fruaght on certain days:p

What do you think she'd say if we turned up in NYC for a nice weekend and we go see a 'Pool game?

Hmm, I forsee nights on the sofa.

Let me know when.

I dont think Liverpool can moan at someone elses dodgy kepper, we have had our fair share!!!!

Amazing how everyones second favourite team is Newcastle. If anyone gets a chance to see all those games on Sky Gold when they show the old Keegan years with Ginola, Asprilla, Albert. You watch the games now and you have to admit there is no team that can match the quality they had. It was a big shame they didn't win the championship, they were the best team ever not too have won. Anyone remember those 4-3 games vs Liverpool. The kop are still screaming from Collymore's injury time winner!!

So let me get this straight, LFCNY supporters club is in a bar full of hot brazillian and Argie barmaids......and your in talks over moving why? ;) are you all insain or do the barmaids get a free transfer? If I go over I have to see the Village. Having said that it is kinda strange not having it in a english or irish (they seem to be everywhere, geneva even had 4, and liverpool has big irish connections) bar. I think I might become a fully paid up member soon enough....as long as i get to do the samba with said hot barmaids when we score haha.

yeah I never knew anything about the owens bird being preggers till he dedicated his 4 goals to his unborn kid by saying the next time i score i'll probably be a father...shes due to go into labour today i think so good luck to her....think gerard should sign the kid up if it's a he? ;)

Does anyone else think that guy on the right of that Bremen pic looks like the guy off real world NY, you know the one that was quite racist at the start till he got to know the others and realised the wromgs of his ways...dunno his name.

Edit: ok just read the page, seems like it is an irish bar...i should have guessed by the name, guess the fact it wasn't called O'fiddlesticks through me on that one...and having south american barmaids.....any one taught them an irish accent yet?

Judging by that picture, the question really has to be 'Why?', or perhaps 'Warum?' ;)

Do you support the other german teams when they're in european competitions, or do you cheer on the other team?

of course! I actually have both 4-3 games on vhs here, on both PAL and NTSC, me and a bunch of mates actually watched the first one a couple of weeks ago, followed by The Italian Job heh. Last weekend I saw that the first 4-3 game, the collymore one, was voted best game of the premiership ever :D Asprilla was awesome, never realised his full potential for the club, but what class, that goal against Liverpool was sublime, yet he made it look so so easy. Ginola was one of those all time greats too, similar to Bergkamp and the like.

WinterMute The club usually has a yearly picnic on Charity Shield day, but seeing as we ain' in it this year, I'm not sure what happens now...would of been a great time for ya to come over, it's a sight that's for sure, a bunch of (usually) drunk people trying to play football in the park, with a barbeque too close, it's great fun, but kinda pathetic haha.

dstorey um, yeah, i have asked meself the same thing. i go there when there's not a game on anyways. but it hasn't been too reliable in getting the games shown on telly, and that's really the priority. i'll still be going there outside of the 'pool games :) they look after me there ;)
yeah it is an irish bar, there's thousands of them in nyc, and their plate of irish is almost as good as my full english, but not quite :) I sometimes work at Myers of Keswick, which is a few minutes away, and we make the best bangers in the world, and pork pies, cornish pasties etc, unbeatable. speaking of which, i think i gotta go help them unload a container full of english stuff tomorrow, baked beans, hp, etc etc :D Oh, the store is actually right next door to where they shot Real World NY, and Mikey was his name, he does look a bit like that Bremen guy haha. it was good, they shot the whole series before they started to air it, and i knew all the news, last i knew, danny devito was living there, he's shorter in real life i swear!

ooh, just got an email informing me the 'pool v city game is on down the 'sticks at 10am saturday, that'll be live then :D

God I love that game, I remember Colly's goal like it was yesterday, I jumped around the living room for about ten minutes, it was total suicide football, you just don't see enough of those kind of games.

I've got both on tape as well, plus a couple of good MUFC spankings inc the last Worthington:D :D Nice way to pass a rainy afternoon.

too true, i actually watched both 4-3 games with one of my bezzie mates, who happens to be a big newcastle fan, i felt for him, i really did. couldn't believe it the second time round though, and it was even closer to the wire that one.

i'm lucky enough to have all the finals from the "2001 a scouse odyssey" year, you know, the one where we won 5, yes five trophies :D must watch them again soon. boy were they some good times, i tell ya, the bar we frequented at the time, if you couldn't be at anfield or in cardiff, this was the place to be!

...hmmm, good question (or "gute Frage...) ;)

I have always been a supporter of Werder, as long as I can remember, even though they didn't really play that good during the last couple of years (it starts getting better though...)

I definitly DO NOT cheer for sh**ty FC Bayern or Dortmund!!! those teams suck IMHO... K-town sucks too, even though most other Werder-fans seem to like them.

if one of the other German teams is competing in one of the European cups, I usually kind of cheer for them...

oh, by the way, I cheer for Manchester City when it comes to english soccer

LOL! that or the Undergrounds broken.

Great thread, I've had the pleasure of supporting LFC for 33 (mostly) terrific years. I'm really looking forward to the Chelsea game, I work with a load of their supporters and Monday week is going to be such fun.

Does anyone know who Chesea and Newcastle have on Sat? Oh i really hope we finish higher than the toon as I never hear the last of it if we do worse than them....my friend was going on for ages how we might have won the worthless cup but I'd prefere to qualif for the champions leauge so it would be so fun to take their champions leauge place that they said they couldnt lose...but they've been going through a slump like we did.

Seems you get the sat games on tv...we dont get them here, sounds like you have better coverage than we do. Do any bars have Sky, thats what we had in switzerland, Fiddled it so that the pub used a uk address to register the box.

Keeping this thread going, who do you all want to sign next season. My moneys on harry kewell or vaan de vaart, i'd love to see either or both of them....or maybe joe cole as west ham will rpobs go down and if we dont get him Manure probable will.

Kein Wunder. Do FC Bayern have any fans who are actually german??? They seem to be regarded with no small degree of venom. I've enjoyed watching them play though, ever since they conceeded two goals in the last 5 minutes of the champions league final :D

btw: Chelsea are away at West Ham, whilst Newcastle play host to Birmingham. No prizes for guessing who'll win

i hope west ham cause an upset, they need the points badly....and they have some good players, been on a good run too except they lost when it really mattered against bolton.

Newcastle play Birmingham at home and Chelsea play West Ham away. Hope Newcastle win and Chelsea lose.

Would love to see Liverpool sign a decent leftback but am unsure who is available in that position. If Leeds are off loading look for them to get Ian Harte!!! I think they will sign Cisse from France and will improve the midfield with Brett Emmerson.

If that doesn't work maybe Gerard will ask Ian Rush, Tommy Smith and Kenny Dalglish to come out of retirement.

i've always said ever since rushy started coaching the strikers...he should be on the pitch instead.

but what is it about us liverpool fans eh? mikey scores a ton of goals, more i think than van nistelrooy (if you take away his hundreds of penalties) and we have a good goal diff, yet, we still moan about the form of our forwards!? i guess all these years of winning the 1st division, but not one premiership eh. or maybe we're just so passionate about the team, that the result doesn't matter as much as the performance??? i dunno, it's still that same old consistency problem isn't it.

oh, vollspacken, you would have to mention you're a (kind of) manchester city fan, two days before we play them! ;) heh

I think its because we never kill games off, we get like one goal then proceed to miss about a million chances...or just dont create any more. Even before the first goal I've often heard os create alot but not get it in the net then the other team go down the other end and score. I though it was going to happen against west brom for a while but once the second goal went in we played some amazing stuff...hope we continue it. I think Baros is a great foil for Owen though...seems to create a lot of his goals when he plays. Saying that, we mostly need a creative right sided and possibly left sided player that will run up ahead of the forwards...ASmicer can when on song but sadly thats often few and far between. Dioufy's doing ok when he plays on the wing though, he's an exciting player, and I'd like to see more of Cheyrou down the left but it seems hes more of a central player and we have too many of them. We need more signings there to add depth. Hopefully thoug Le Tallac the wonder kid can do a job when called upon.

There has been talk of getting cissé but with Mellor looking promising,, Baros, Owen, Hesky, Dioufy, and Le Tallac and Ponguelle coming for next season we are more than covered so I guess someone like Heskey would move on if thats the case. And we all know Heskey like Smicer is one of Hou's fav's. As much as I like Carra too I think we would create a lot more if we had someone that would take it past the midfirld such as Babbel, as with Danny playing there he is not a natural wide player (but you cant fault him this season, brabably my player of the season if we have one).

Van nissleroy or whoever i think maybe scores more than owen, isn't he on something crazy like 39 or so.....but he is the only one getting the goals at man u so the only target to pass to really, their midfield sadlty creates more thasn ours does fr Micheal and i think I saw a stat where most if not all of Van's goals were in and around the 6 yard box. Bigger goal mouch than andy cole was in his toon days.
