I have my Ring Doorbell Pro working in the Home app via homebridge, so I don't see much advantage in any native HomeKit alternative.
Do you pay for their cloud storage? If you also have iCloud storage, you get extra HomeKit Secure Video Storage included for free. Than can be a big savings.

I'm not so gullible as to believe there is any difference between Amazon and Apple when it comes to privacy of cloud storage, so I'm not going to make any decisions based on that.
Ring has made it clear they will turnover video to the Police without a warrant. Your HomeKit Secure is encrypted on Apple’s servers and they require a warrant to turn over what they have. Ring has all the recognized faces on their servers, Apple does the recognition locally, so they do not store the recognized faces on their end.
The Ring has near flawless person detection which makes false positive alerts practically non-existent, so the Logitech product has a very high bar to meet.
My experience with HomeKit Face Detection is it is pretty good.

Their cloud storage is dirt cheap and is single subscription that covers the alarm system and cameras. No savings to be had.

I don't have any problem with Ring doing that. The doorbell is an outdoor camera that faces the street. I have no more specific claim to that footage than anyone else. I don't use any cloud storage cameras inside my home, or anywhere outside that point into what I'd consider private parts of the property. I use a purely local NVR for that. I wouldn't trust Apple with that footage anymore than Amazon, and neither should anyone else, despite the PR nonsense Apple loves to boast.

That's completely the wrong question. The real question is why do YOU trust them in the first place? Because they say so? How ridiculous is that?
Much simpler for me. I trust them because their business interests are aligned with my goals. They are selling privacy as a feature. Ring is owned by Amazon and have made it clear that privacy is not even a goal of theirs. Apple have repeatedly stated and acted in defense of privacy in many public cases. They try not to capture my data, and when they do, they try to keep it disconnected from me, for solid business reasons.

A while ago someone there talked about how much it costs for them to comply with subpoenas. If they do not have the data, and/or the encryption keys for it, they cannot be forced to turn it over. It saves them a great deal of money.

At some point their incentives may change and I may need to re-evaluate my decisions, but at the moment it is easy and clear.

It's only easy and clear because you believe the fluff. Selling privacy as a feature is an angle. Nothing more. Most other companies don't (because most customers don't care), so for Apple it's an effective angle to differentiate on it. But it's nothing more than that. It is entirely possible for Apple to maintain this front, which results in people pledging blind allegiance, while still doing whatever they deem necessary.

It's incredibly naive to believe that their public stance on anything aligns entirely with their private practices. In fact Apple gets caught all the time not being consistent with this public stance (usually in relatively minor ways) and its entirely swept under the rug, instead of being overblown into some PR disaster, because they've cultivated a wealth of followers that believe their privacy PR.

Just post a pic rather than have everyone play the guessing game

Here’s the siding I wanna out the doorbell on. Ring actually sells something so it’s not angled.

Mlody no issue turning off physical chime here, perhaps double check you chime box wiring?

i don’t have a HomePod to check the ring there, my other Apple devices work great including Apple TV’s immediately showing who is at the door onscreen.
Found the problem - it turns out that the chime was set to the middle setting - off and that somehow prevented the HomePod chime from working.

Munpip214 that sounds exactly like the problem I had when my doorbell roamed to a different WiFi AP, there was some incompatibility with the network and although the doorbell was “connected” it was not seen by HomeKit. I update the firmware on my WiFi access point and that seems to have resolved the issue. And yes you need a decent WiFi signal outside for this to work.
I didn’t have any router firmware updates available. I tried eero router with HomeKit and it was able to connect to that but it will not connect to any other access point (same name/password of course). So not sure what is happening but it is almost like it is saving the AP IP and won’t connect to others? I dunno. I of course turned off the HomeKit router feature in the home app. Also tried a new tp-link and it won’t connect to that at all. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Edit: Apparently the HomeKit routers are so strict that unless you have your entire system with homekit routers it will not let you your devices move from one access point to a non-homekit access point. I had turned off the homekit controls, but still had my router connected to HomeKit. Once I remove the router from homekit completely I was able to connect the doorbell to any access point without issues.

Not too happy with the build quality of this thing. What’s with the moisture? I will have to contact support for a replacement next week.

After 30 min of work wiring it, I have it running now as my main doorbell replacing a Ring 2. But it’s not how I imagine it would be, first I can’t change the notification sound, so if anyone rings the doorbell, I can’t distinct it from any random notification I could get. Second, there’s no way to tie the doorbell ringing to any automation because it only works as a movement detector. Previously I had alexa as the doorbell chime for my Ring 2, but this new one can’t be tied to that in any way. No IFTT, no Alexa, no Google assistant, just siri and it won’t connect to any other device upon ring.

Bottom line, I’m stuck with the standard notification sound to know someone is at the door

Alongside AirPods Max, Apple today also began selling the new Logitech Circle View Wired Doorbell, one of the first video doorbells with support for HomeKit Secure Video.

logitech-circle-view-doorbell.jpg

The Circle View Doorbell includes Logitech's "TrueView" video technology with a 160º field of view, head-to-toe HD video quality, HDR, and color night vision. As a wired doorbell, the Circle View connects to your existing doorbell setup, including indoor chime modules.

While Robin's ProLine Doorbell was the first doorbell to support HomeKit Secure Video, that's a professional-level doorbell priced in excess of $500, so Logitech's Circle View is really the first HomeKit Secure Video doorbell aimed at consumers.

HomeKit Secure Video gives you 10 days of iCloud-stored footage that doesn't count against your iCloud limits, although you need to have at least a 200GB iCloud plan to support one camera or a 2TB iCloud plan to support up to five cameras.

HomeKit Secure Video also gives you private video analysis that occurs directly on your Apple device rather than on cloud servers, as well as full encryption before anything is sent to iCloud. It also integrates with people tags from the Photos app in order to identify who is at your door.

The Logitech Circle View Wired Doorbell is priced at $199.95 and is available now from the Apple online store.

Does anyone know why I can't view my Logitech Circle View Doorbell Camera once I leave my home wifi network?

Do you have an Apple TV? I think HomeKit requires a device on the network to send remotely if I recall correctly.

Apple says:

Set up your HomePod, HomePod mini, Apple TV, or iPad as a home hub

With a home hub, you can control your HomeKit accessories while you're away from your home, grant access to the people you trust, and automate your accessories to do what you want, when you want.

Anyone getting missed motion notifications? Had UPS deliver a package and it didn’t record or notify me

Hi everyone, glad to see there is a great deal of excitement for this product.. I've been waiting years for a HomeKit enabled doorbell that uses iCloud secure storage..

I was able to complete the install out much hassle however I do have one small issue. The supplied Logitech angle mount doesn't give me a enough angle to capture my front door.. I know they have after market add-ons brackets for Ring and Arlo, is there one that works with Logitech to is the product too new?

Bprendy, from that picture it looks to me like you are using the flat mount, not the angled mount? The angled mount should allow you to see more of the sidewalk/yard. Is that what you are trying to get? If you are trying to actually see more of your door it appears to me like you will have to change your doorbell location, but I may not totally understand where the doorbell is in relation to your door from those pictures. It might help if you showed a picture looking at your door/doorbell so you can see them both in relation to each other.

Now I have a couple questions I'm wondering if anyone has figured out yet.

Is there a way to keep the doorbell on the rear door working with this? I installed one at my Mother-In-Laws house, and the directions made it seem like you couldn't have a doorbell on the rear door anymore. She never had one, so it wasn't a big deal at her house, but I do have one and don't want to lose it. This is part of the reason I haven't bought one for myself yet. I installed the nest hello doorbell at my parents house and it had no problem with the rear doorbell still working from what I remember.

Tagging along with that question, has anyone figured out if you can have two of these doorbells? I'd love to have one on my front door, and one at the rear door.

Definitely the angle mount.. I wish that wasn’t the case..

?
OK, that picture helps a lot. Have you tried using wedges or something to angle it out further and try to figure out what angle you need it to be? It seems like that seller on ETSY is willing to make custom parts for people with different siding. Maybe if you tell him what you need he could make something custom for you?

Thanks for finding that btw, I may end up buying one of his mounts for my house since the doorbell at my front door is on the siding and this seems like it would make it a much better install. I still need to figure out if I can keep my doorbell on the rear door, or use two of these before I do anything.
