Yep...the number of devices with hardware disconnect issues is certainly concerning from a quality control standpoint.

Seems that the only thing users can do at this point is to roll the dice with replacements until they get a working unit. Even after this, there’s not guarantee how long this is going to work well for! :(

I’m still thinking it‘s a mix of software/firmware issues. It only ever disconnects for me while I’m using the trackpad, and I’ve done some further testing and the keyboard itself on the device is still working while the trackpad “reboots”. The on display keyboard doesn’t even show up. I’ve seen some people consistently have the same issues even after receiving multiple replacement devices. Wouldn’t that signal it being a software/firmware issue? There’s no way people would be getting the same exact symptoms on multiple devices if it wasn’t.

Truth is, I’m not even sure this is a Logitech specific issue. I recently saw a thread where this has been happening to Magic Keyboard owners as well. I think someone somewhere just screwed things up when adding trackpad support, because even when my trackpad goes out on the keyboard, the actual keys themselves are still fully responsive.

Michael-123, does your trackpad only disconnect while you’re moving the cursor around? I’m trying to come up with some commonalities between our units. My trackpad basically only disconnects while I’m moving the cursor around, and the keyboard itself stays responsive.

Hey everyone, i just received my Combo Touch today and i'm very happy with it so far.

However, i was wondering if it's normal that pretty much all of the number keys seem to be a bit "loose"? At least on my unit the keys in this row rattle a bit while all the other keys feel nice and steady.

Interesting observation - lightly tapping (but not fully depressing) my number row keys does make a louder noise compared to the letters and space bar. Is this what you’re experiencing?

I wouldn’t say it’s a lemon. When it works, it works great, but I honestly hope Apple or Logitech respond regarding these issues, to make the product even better.

Has anyone else tried to disable tap to click in their trackpad settings? Doing that seems to have greatly dropped the amount of trackpad disconnections I’ve been having.

Hi, it does indeed. Sometimes when I’m using my trackpad, the cursor will freeze randomly and the trackpad wont respond. This is in addition to it disconnecting overnight so when I come to use the keyboard in the morning, no response.

I noticed you mentioned the trick about disabling the tap to click but mine wasn’t on originally so I’m not sure if this will affect the disconnecting issues.

There was an update to the Logitech app today which references a firmware update to solve connection issues. I installed the new app, but firmware didn’t update at this point. It’s still 00.10-01.08. Is anyone seeing a newer firmware version?

That firmware update referenced is for Slim Combo, not Combo Touch. At least this means they are aware of the connection issues, so there should be a patch in the coming days.

I must have gotten overexcited and misread the release notes. Bummer.

It's good news though. If Logitech is able to patch these issues that they're having on the Slim Combo (Which is having the exact same issues as the Combo Touch), that means they're able to update the firmware for the Combo Touch too. I give it a couple weeks before a similar patch comes out for the Combo Touch

Thank you for being the guinea pigs. 🤪 I will not buy this. At this point I'll just buy a Magic Keyboard when I get the new iPad Pro with mini-LED and 5G.

I wonder if the connection at the Smart Connector just isn't very good. I can't remember if it was mentioned or not, but is the connection at the Smart Connector with the Logitech a strong magnetic connection?

I have experienced disconnects with the Apple Smart Keyboard as well, but it's only been a few times a month, not daily like with some of you. The magnetic connection is quite strong, like MagSafe.

So, have you had a chance to use the case yet? If so, how is it working for you? Thanks!
It’s been fine so far. I’ve had it almost 3 weeks. I’ve not had any disconnects and the track pad is very responsive. The only negative for me is that it makes the iPad heavy in comparison to my Smart Keyboard. However besides that I really like it. I won’t be returning it.

I love this keyboard too. It didn’t disconnect that much and even if it happens, didn’t bother that much.

The weak magnet bothers me a bit tho. Would be nice f it was as strong as the Smart Cover or Smart Keyboard.

Has anyone tried iPadOS 13.6 beta in regards to the disconnecting issue? One of the lines of the change log says “Resolves an issue that could cause the software keyboard to appear unexpectedly when connected to certain third-party hardware keyboards”. Could this be referring to the Logitech Combo Touch keyboard. I’m trying the 13.6 beta as it fixes an unrelated issue, and I’ve had no disconnects at all today!

Spoke too soon. Just had a disconnect :/

Yeah I believe the issues were to address connection issues on another device (Slim Combo). Connection issues with this device seem to be primarily hardware-related as since I received a replacement unit I have essentially resolved all connection issues across iOS 13.4 --> 13.5 --> 13.6 --> 14 beta on the same keyboard firmware based on the Logi Control app.
