Using the Combo Touch with an 10.5 iPad Pro. I do not seem to have any kind of options to adjust the cursor size when using the Combo Touch. They aren't anywhere in Accessibility or anywhere else. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi there,

Yes, I’m not sure why pointer options isn’t enabled for us Logitech users. I did look into this and there is a way to adjust some additional settings if you simultaneously pair an external mouse, which can be later disconnected. I’ll paste my earlier post here also mentioning this.

——

Just to update you guys, there’s a tip on a review video, I believe by Maxtech, that I saw. If you connect an external mouse in addition to the Logitech keyboard, the option “pointer options” appears under accessibility and allows you to adjust the scroll speed, turn of trackpad inertia (which I highly recommend), and some other studd. Interestingly when you turn off the external mouse, these settings are also saved when using the logitech trackpad also! I don’t know whey apple didn’t just make these settings more accesible.

——

Hopefully that helps. Apple/logitech really should enable these options for us case users by default, I believe the magic keyboard allows for pointer options to be adjusted without having to connect an external mouse and then seeing the options.

Logitech Combo Touch purchased direct from Logitech Canada on 2017 10.5 Pro. Received the unit yesterday. Was very excited as the added trackpad functionality allows me to carry one less device (laptop) with me to work for everyday tasks in throughout the work day. Hardware Keyboard layout changed to US immediately to solve key functionality issues.

Unfortunately I’m having the same issues that many in the thread are endorsing:
1. Trackpad Inertia. Even after having connected a mouse and turning inertia off, behaviour persists. Not that big of a deal as I can modify my scrolling behaviour quite easily to solve the issue (scroll and then tap down lightly with two fingers to ‘stop‘ the scroll)
2. Random Disconnects. By far the most frustrating, as it is unpredictable and seems to be triggered at random. Has happened on several occasions while typing this reply. Essentially makes this thing unusable at times which is unacceptable for a $150 USD ($200 CAD) accessory!
3. Battery. May just be a result of the random disconnects, as every time the keyboard reconnects it momentarily reverts to default keyboard backlight brightness.

Other random oddities I’ve noticed:
  • Home shortcut seems slower than equivalent CMD+H
  • While changing brightness (particularly brightness up), the HUD will flash in and out for a few clicks before remaining constant
Love the promise and value this device offers, but the current bugs make it difficult to recommend for people reliant on this device to take their iPad to the next level of functionality. Most would be better served with a Bluetooth mouse and Apple Smart Keyboard case until some of these issues can be fixed (assuming they are all software-related).

Hi there,

Good to see you were able to try this out.

1. The trackpad inertia issue, which is when moving around the cursor with one finger, does stop when doing the external mouse , pointer option trick. The scroll issue I think you’re referring to that is mentioned throughout this thread is indeed annoying. I can confirm that this is fixed in the current beta update. I don’t want to condone beta software, but I am running the newest beta and the scroll issue is fixed and trackpad functionality just feels better.

2. THis is definitely an annoying issue especially with how much you paid for this thing. I use the same 2017 10.5 IPad Pro and have never had the random disconnect issue, so may be a bad batch of hardware issues. If you are able, I would recommend maybe exchanging it for another piece to try. I had an issue with being unable to type on an the MS outlook today, but it appeared to be a software issue that resolved by closing and restarting the app. I have typed much in the browser, like now, with no disconnect issues.

3. The battery is reduced, but I think as another user posted In this thread, it only seems little affected compared to the smart type cover.

Its a great device and a lot of issues I feel are due to apple just not having the software trackpad bugs ironed out. Regarding the disconnect issue, I would try perhaps an exchange and hopefully that’ll resolve that.

anyone know when the firmware update is suppose to come out with the current issues? I can't stand the disconnects/reconnects and the battery drain.

Is there anywhere I can order the keyboard in Canada?

Sold out on the Logitech website and not available at the Apple Store Canada.

How would we know if those issues can even be fixed via firmware? They may well be inherent in the hardware itself.

yea that's true. I wish Logitech acknowledged the problems and announced plans moving forward somehow. Have 30 days to return

For reference:
- Current Firmware: v00.10-01.08
- App: v1.0.36

Where can I find the keyboard firmware version? I just received another one from Logitech.com instead of apple.com and everything seems to be working as it should now. Can’t really spot the battery drain or any disconnects so far so I’m wondering if I just got a bad batch from apple. I will have to continue to monitor and play around with it to make sure for at least a couple days/weeks since I have until June 2nd to return it.

Shows up in the bottom left hand corner of the Logitech Control app.

Glad to hear that your replacement unit seems to be working for you thus far - but if true suggests underlying hardware and quality control issues that firmware updates won’t necessarily be able to alleviate...

I did notice that the backlight doesn’t turn back on after closing up the keyboard then unfolding the keyboard to use it. I would have to detach it for it to turn back on. Usually the keyboard light would dim and then when you press a key, it would turn back on. Nothing major but one of the problems I saw

I will just note: I haven’t had any random disconnects in my week with the case, though I do have to remove and reconnect the keyboad if I am switching from my smart cover (which I keep it in most of the time)...and switch to the logitech when I need a keyboard. It seems that it needs to be attached while the iPad is unlocked...then it works fine from then on. So, if it hasn’t been connected, and I connect it with the iPad off/locked, then I need to quickly reconnect it the first time I unlock. After that, it stays connected as long as I keep the case/keyboard on, regardless of how many times I lock and unlock the iPad.

I got mine from Logitech Canada directly. Kept checking every morning until one day it was available.

Yep as did I until it became available to purchase on Apr 24. Though if these disconnects get any worse, it might have to go back...🙁

That’s what i did, but no luck yet. Should have bought it when it was possible, but since it says that they would only ship in May, I waited until May but I don’t think it was available since..

I received my combo touch two weeks ago. The scrolling issue has been fixed by connecting to a Bluetooth mouse to find and turn off the trackpad inertia option. It seems not working for everyone but worth a try.

But the random disconnects really makes me frustrated. I’m already using the iPadOS 13.5 Beta and nothing changed. So the only chance is to wait for the firmware update from Logitech.

I would just be careful to not pass the return window in this case since from my experience with iPad Pro 10.5 and this keyboard, as there have been no disconnects for me except infrequent occurrence of the cursor not being seen once opening up the pad after a period of non-usage. This corrects with just reconnecting the keyboard. 99% of the time there are no disconnects and this was both on the current shipping version of iOS 13 and the latest 13.5 Beta (which does fix the scrolling issue on its own in addition to the better trackpad behavior with the turning of inertia setting). I just wouldn’t want anyone to get stuck with what maybe a hardware issue in certain batch of keyboards. In additional perhaps there is a way to make sure the keyboard and iPad contacts are clean, perhaps wiping it down in some safe manner. Having said that I hope that a software update does fix most people’s issues as its otherwise a great keyboard/trackpad.

My version number appears to be same in the app as posted by other people.

I have the same issue actually, the inconsistency of the backlight sometimes, which I hope and imagine could get fixed by a software update.

Thanks for your kind advice.
The contacts are tight and clean and most disconnects happens on a very stable surface.
I actually like this product very much if put those issues aside. So I’m gonna wait for a few updates to see if it fix the problem.

The disconnects seem like a strangely widespread issue to not be getting any official acknowledgment from Apple or Logitech. Would be great to know if an update is coming to resolve this, or if the hardware is bad and needs to be exchanged. I’d rather not go through the exchange hassle, love the product itself and want to keep it, but hard to tell if this is going to be resolvable with an update.

The disconnects on my keyboard have been much more rare lately; I'm not sure what could possibly have changed.
Battery life is still pretty awful, unfortunately, but I'm starting to think that some of that is just the aging battery in my iPad.

I’m still having pretty consistent issues with the keyboard/trackpad disconnecting and Logitech’s customer support has been useless. Has anyone found a fix or been able to exchange their unit for a new one?

Just received the Logitech touch combo for my 10.5 iPad Pro. Very high quality, keys feel better than my 12 inch MacBook, and mouse is smooth, nice click, smooth scrolling and all gestures including 3 fingers appear to be supported. The back is a bit thick but very sturdy. Feels like a solid book when closed. Have to remove the keyboard portion for reading as keyboard portion will not fold back. Back cover also can be used w an apple leather cover as you can see below. Overall really does seem similar in functionally to the Apple mouse/keyboard combo for the 11 inch that they are releasing. Very happy so far as it does feel like a small laptop, but I will see if I can keep the same workflow as my Mac and use on a daily basis.
Also some comparison pics to the surface go that I have. Very similar in form factor w this case.

Does your apostrophe button work? I exchanged my first keyboard, I just received the exchange and I’m running into the same issue. The only way that the apostrophe works is with autocorrect if I physically hit the button it doesnt populate. Besides that I’m very happy with the product its a solid build and half the cost of the Magic Keyboard.

The keyboard disconnects and you have to unmagnetize and remagnetize it for it to continue to work. I dont know if this a keyboard issue or an issue with the iPad itself. I ran into the same issue with the Apple Smart Keyboard it would stop working and I had to disconnect and reconnect for it to work again. As far as the Logitech Customer Service they have been useless I am running into an issue with the apostrophe button not working. I tried calling into Logitech for support and they were not taking calls and the online support was just as useless. Good luck with your keyboard. I would recommend reaching out to the company you purchased it from you might be able to get the keyboard swapped out if it falls within their buyers remorse period.

If you haven't already tried changing your keyboard layout from "automatic" to the layout appropriate for your language, that may solve the apostrophe problem.
