If you haven't already tried changing your keyboard layout from "automatic" to the layout appropriate for your language, that may solve the apostrophe problem.
That did the trick. The apostrophe is working now ‘’’’’ Thanks for the help 🙏

Where can I find the keyboard firmware version? I just received another one from Logitech.com instead of apple.com and everything seems to be working as it should now. Can’t really spot the battery drain or any disconnects so far so I’m wondering if I just got a bad batch from apple. I will have to continue to monitor and play around with it to make sure for at least a couple days/weeks since I have until June 2nd to return it.

Hey, any updates with your replacement unit? Would be helpful to confirm hardware vs. software fault so I can initiate the RMA process if possible in the middle of pandemic!

Battery I thought got better but only time would tell. The disconnects improved 99% of the time with the exception of not connecting if I haven’t used the keyboard for a long time and I would open the keyboard to use it. The light wouldn’t even come on and the keyboards wouldn’t work, which would force me to detach and reattach keyboard. Other than that, I had no complaints. Thickness, I didn’t mind because I knew it was functional and durable. If esthetics was a big issue, I’m sure people would just stick with the apple Smart Keyboard.

Anyway I returned the keyboard because I wasn’t going to “hope” that it was going to be fixed. I saw a tech reviewer on YT and he said “review the Product for what it is NOW and not what it could be“ and I think that holds very true. I’ll revisit this keyboard when my apple Smart Keyboard dies again and will see if Logitech has fixed all these issue. Just my 2 cents.

I returned my Combo Touch too, but only after having it for 24 hours with an Air 3 (returned both). The disconnections were the biggest issue, and I decided to get a 12.9 Pro instead that I'm using happily with my first SKF. Things I liked about the Combo Touch were its material, the trackpad, and the mechanical hinge. It will be interesting to watch how Logitech deals with the disconnection issues and how its trackpad keyboards evolve.

Reached out to Logitech support asking for solutions and instead of helping me troubleshoot (I had told them that I had updated to the latest iPadOS and had the latest version of Logitech Control app upfront), they immediately sent over an RMA form.

Not very inspiring and might allude to the fact that Logitech isn’t really pushing towards finding solutions for this product any time soon...

Buyer beware for sure!!!

Same but they’re asking me to send proof of which key isn’t functioning correctly. I’ve tried explaining this isn’t a mechanical key function issue, but a connection or firmware issue.

What’s odd is I downloaded iOS 13.5 beta 5 yesterday and I’m seeing nearly the number of disconnects as previous. I wonder if this is actually an Apple/iOS issue?

Interesting...just updated to public beta 3 and certainly am still having disconnects...

Sorry to hear you guys are still having issues with even the beta firmwares. I have been running beta firmware for a couple of weeks now, and enjoying it with this keyboard as the scroll behavior is improved.

If you’re still having trouble with the keyboard in regards to disconnects, I would recommend exchanging it within the exchange period. Prior to beta and on the current IOS betas, I rarely have a disconnect. If it occurs its on a few occasions and only when opening the keyboard cover after a while of non-use. Otherwise I can use it for hours (as I have been now since morning as a second screen next to my work desktop) and I have not had a single disconnect.

Logitech should address issues ASAP of course, but I cant help but think there is a hardware component to these disconnects.

I’ve never had a Logitech product before, and hope that their reliability as a company and products isn’t poor. I just didn’t want to spend over a 1000$ upgrading my 10.5 Pro, which I love using, to the pro 11 just to use the magic keyboard. Granted having not used the magic keyboard and being a surface go owner, I feel that the Logitech and its kick stand is a better solution, more flexible, than the magic keyboard even though it lacks that apple....”magic.”

Logitech usually makes pretty solid products - I've owned the previous Logitech Slim Combo (without trackpad) and found it to be quite reliable after some initial Wifi bugs were sorted out. This is on top of multiple desktop/laptop keyboard/mice which I've been able to rely on over the years.

We're obviously in unique circumstances at the moment which might excuse some of the lack of response users are experiencing with troubled units.

I suppose the most frustrating thing at this point is that it's unclear as to whether or not this is a hardware, software or a combination of issues nearly a month since its release...at this point I'll probably try for a replacement unit and then pray that software will be able to deal with any remaining issues in the future.

Update (May 18): Updated to iPadOS 13.5 Release GM - 17F75) and still have disconnects. Awaiting a second unit bought from apple to see if there’s any improvement while processing an RMA of the original unit via Logitech.

I'm having the same random disconnect problem with my Combo Touch, and a Logitech support person suggested I do a settings reset on my iPad. She said that can sometimes clear up problems between software and hardware, which is apparently a common cause of problems with Smart Connector keyboards. I'm wondering if anyone here has tried that already, and what people think of that suggestion. I'm not keen on spending an hour or more reconstructing my iPad if it's just a long-shot.

Yes, I did a settings reset earlier in the week (but not erase all content) and found the results to be similar.

Thanks, I'm glad I checked here first! I'll hold on for a while to see if they issue a firmware update that makes a difference, and if not, I'll return/exchange it when I get close to the end of my return period.

I see that iPadOS 13.5 was just released, has anyone tried it out? I know the scrolling glitch was fixed, but I’m also hoping for some other potential fixes (Battery life, random disconnects, etc?).

13.5 GM (same version as official release) and still disconnects, though improved from 13.4.1.

UPDATE: After having received a second unit from Apple today, I can confirm that this is almost certainly a wide-spread hardware issue. Since using the replacement unit continuously for a couple of hours, I haven’t had a SINGLE disconnect whereas connecting the old unit leads to disconnects within minutes of use.

Those still experiencing disconnects should almost certainly reach out to their vendor for refund/replacement. As noted above, if this is not possible then updating to iPadOS 13.5 does somewhat mitigate this, but nowhere near the level of a functional unit.

Just wanted to add my thoughts and opinions on the logitech touch combo keyboard case. I’m currently use this at the moment to type this comment on the iPad Pro 10.5.

Thanks to the ones who suggested changing the keyboard from auto the UK English which allowed me to use the ‘ button on the keyboard. Also, the connecting another bluetooth mouse to change the pointer options is another useful tip too.

While I haven’t experienced the disconnecting keyboard in my few days of ownership, I do have the scrolling issue where it seems to keep scrolling a bit more once I remove my fingers from the trackpad. Slightly annoying but small scrolling movements have alleviated this to some extent. Another issue I am having is with the two finger right click, I find that if my two fingers are not as close as possible, the trackpad registers this as a single click instead of a double click. Where as on my macbook, my fingers can be apart and still registers the double click. I guess a solution to this could be to use the tap to click feature instead. In terms of power drain, I haven’t noticed anything too drastic.

General positive points:
-The case is well made and feels premium. The woven nylon material feels pleasing to touch and looks modern.
-The iPad is well protected as the rubber case is quite thick so should provide more protection that the magic keyboard for the other ipad Pro’s
-Plenty of adjustment with the hinge to find a nice reading/writing angle
-Has a row of function/shortcut keys
-The keyboard is nice to type on, keys are of a decent size and there is good tactile feedback when typing.
-Keyboard is backlit
-The loop for a the apple pencil holds it securely and wont fall off if knocked.

General negative points:
-The edges of the keyboard, especially where your palms rest when typing feels a bit rough. I know they designed this in a way to fit snugly next to the screen when closed but doesn’t feel the best. I feel this could have been bevelled more to reduce this rough edge.
-The case is pretty thick and does add some weight to the iPad. Not a huge concern for me as the extra protection is welcomed.
-The case does make the volume and power buttons harder to press but they do still click nicely

Overall, a very neat keyboard and case package. I feel I will be using my iPad more since I can type a lot faster and the trackpad changes how I interact with it now. This keyboard case is a lot cheaper than the magic keyboard for the other ipads but not really a comparison as they don’t fit my iPad Pro 10.5

Regarding above: connect a Bluetooth mouse, then in ‘Accessibility‘ > ‘Pointer options’ you can toggle “trackpad inertia” option off to fix this.

I bought mine from Apple Store app, but the apple guy told me for all the third party brand product I need to contact the brand directly. Then it took me at least a hour to keep typing to show the Logitech guys about the problem as it really comes randomly.

The good news is they finally received it and promise to give me a new one from the factory. I hope the result will be same as yours.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

After getting Logitech support to finally agree to replace the unit, I’ve been waiting for the shipping instructions for over a week. I can’t express how frustrated I am with Logitech. This is an issue and the only answer I keep getting from customer support is that I need to reset the iPad and repair the keyboard.

I would suggest no one buy this product.

I have the iPad Pro 10.5 and this has quad speakers. There are no cutouts for the top two speakers. Does the case somehow allow sound to pass through, or do I have to perform some surgery on the case?

Mine has cutouts for all 4 speakers. Do you have the wrong part? The keyboard for the 10.2 iPad has a deeper case to account for the deeper body of the 10.2” iPad, but the keyboard itself is identical.

Thanks for the reply. I did turn off the trackpad inertia previously and still experienced the scrolling problem. After updating to the latest iOS 13.5 update, the scrolling seems to be behaving as it should. This was also mentioned by another user I believe

Mine has cut outs for all the speakers. Could it be that you ordered the case for the wrong iPad model

Oh I should clarify, I haven’t actually bought the case yet (it’s not even on sale in Australia yet), just asking as I have only seen images. But the fact that the 10.5 pro / air version has cut outs for all the speakers is great news for me.

So I started to experience the disconnect issues that other users have mentioned. For me, I mainly experienced them after the iPad has been sat idle for a while, usually overnight. Slightly annoying as the only way to fix it was to detach and reattach the keyboard. Today, I experienced the same disconnecting issue in the morning but thought I would try all the buttons to see if that would wake the keyboard up. So by pressing the lock key a few times, the keyboard woke up and started to respond. I wonder if there is a system in place to put the keyboard asleep but it just takes a moment to wake up instead of instantly coming on when opened.

I’ve spoken to apple regarding this and as I am within 14 days of purchase, they are going to send out a replacement so I’ll report back on my findings. Based on what I did today, I do think this could be more of a software issue rather than a hardware one as I do not experience disconnections whilst using the keyboard.

I’m having similar disconnect issues with my Logitech Combo Touch, though they only happen every few hours. The trackpad will stop responding for a few seconds, then disappear. Then the keyboard will light up a few seconds later, and everything works again. It might be a firmware problem, possibly with the keyboard trying to go to sleep, as there seem to be no physical issues with my unit (Connection lines up good every single time, literally haven’t moved the iPad at all when it disconnects). Really strange.

I have just received my replacement unit from apple and unfortunately the disconnecting issue is now worse. Previously, the case only disconnected from the iPad about once or twice each day after long periods. With this new replacement case, it disconnects a few times each day. Sometimes whilst I’m using the case, the cursor disappears and the trackpad becomes unresponsive and i have to detach and reattach the keyboard to fix this.

For me, the replacement is a lot worse than my previous unit and I find it even more annoying to use with the disconnections and the unresponsive trackpad. I’m starting to believe that this issue is hardware related as the problem is worse. I’ll see how I go for the next few days to see if it improves. If there is no improvement, I may ask for another replacement.

I didn’t expect such issues from an apple/logitech product considering how expensive this keyboard case is. It should simply work but it doesn’t seem to be able to manage that and users should not have to constantly detach and reattach the keyboard to fix it
