I've been using a Logitech M557 mouse for about 6 months, I like it a lot, sometimes less than $30 on sale. It is a conventional 2 button Bluetooth mouse but works great, accurate tracking and no connectivity issues, still using the original batteries. There is one additional button and the wheel push and wheel tilt left/right can be programmed (to a small extent) with supplied OS X software. I modified my M557 innards to get the wheel to rotate freely without the old-fashioned ratchet click action.

I can reliably wake up my Mini after a nights sleep by just moving the mouse or clicking it, which my Dell Bluetooth mouse could not not do reliably.

My Performance MX jumps around and gets very annoyingly laggy on Windows 8.1 on my PC, turning it off for a second then back on seems to solve it for a while but is definitely annoying. Was wondering if anyone has this issue with the MX Master on OS X, or even with the Performance MX on OS X?

Never had that problem with my Performance MX on OS X (or Windows 7 at work for that matter)

I had the M557 and returned it for the MX Master. I didn't like how small the M557 was... I wanted a full sized bluetooth mouse, and the Master is pretty much the only game in town right now. Everything else has been discontinued.

Look nice, but I like the MX Performance better because of the better placement of the "Back" and "Forward" buttons. They looked too cramped on this new mouse.

I don't think this is a valid argument to discard the MX Master.
Adapting to the location of the back/prev buttons took me at most a few hours and now
I do not even think about it.

Sure, you can adapt to it, but the layout is still far from being as well thought out and well designed as the MX Performance.

Does the side part by your thumb look less tacky in person? That's the only thing I don't like about it.

Im running Mavericks 10.9 with an MX master mouse using Bluetooth 4.0. No dongle needed. With that said they require Mac's to have bluetooth 4.0. My 2012 macbook pro has that thankfully.

This sounds promising...I'm using the dongle right now, but was hoping I didn't have to....When I tried to pair it via BT, it wouldn't pick it up....So you're running it on your 2012 eh? I have a Mid 2012 on 10.8.5 ....

Hmmm.....fingers crossed...

Picked one of these up today & am hugely impressed. Coming from the Magic Mouse it's like a whole new world.

Also got it yesterday, love the mouse! I have serious issues with my wrist and tendons in my arm, which doesn't allow me to use any "regular" mouse for more than 10 minutes. At work, I use an Evoluent mouse which is great, but very big and impractical to take with me. I have used the Master now for approximately 10 hours at work yesterday, and no issues! Had to adapt a bit of course, but the possibility to take it home and connect it to my Mac with a simple press of the button is great!

So there is apparently some sort of bug with this mouse that causes it to have issues when used with a Macbook via bluetooth that is also connected to 2.4Ghz wifi. The cursor lags and skips and makes using the mouse virtually impossible. There is a big thread on the Logitech support forums full of people complaining about this, and Logitech has been silent on the issue. The only way to make it usable is to disconnect from all 2.4Ghz Wifi (the VAST majority of base stations use this) and connect via Ethernet or 5Ghz Wifi (only available on higher end N and AC routers).

Interesting, I had that issue yesterday when I first connected the mouse to my rMBP. I only played around with it for 10 minutes and then closed the laptop. I have used it today for about 3 hours, and have had zero issues with it so far.

My MX Masters was smooth like butter on my early 2015 mbp using bluetooth. Only thing is while using bluetooth is you only can use the mouse as is with the back\forward button and side scroll nonexistent. To get the features you would have to use the Unify USB that came with the mouse.

That's not true at all. If you have the logitech drivers installed you should get full features both ways,

This mouse looks nice. I am using the Logitech Performance MX currently on my iMac. The battery life is poor, but it's rechargeable. Otherwise the mouse is pretty good.

Is it possible using the mouse plugged in into the mac, while the battery is empty?

Mine lasts 3-4 weeks, which is the quoted time on the box.

I'm using it on a Windows machine, but I am able to use it while it's plugged in with a dead battery.

I have had to switch away from this mouse since installing El Capitan. Under 10.11, it isn't possible to pair the mouse to the Unifying receiver and you must use Bluetooth. With Bluetooth, the mouse experiences lags and skips constantly. It always feels like it isn't tracking smoothly. I'm not sure what the root cause of this is, but it's made the mouse unusable unless I can somehow get it back on the Unifying receiver.

even on Yosemite I still get a bit of lag using the unifying receiver. I guess support is mostly aimed at windows

Love using the MX-Master mouse, however after multiple attempts my MacOSX 10.9 system does not update to the latest Logitech Options v5.20.124. I don't need the update but have not figured out how to turn off the nag popup window from Logitech imploring me to update multiple times each day, very annoying.

Anyone know how to turn off the Logitech updates in Mac 10.9 ?

Thanks

Isn't there a checkbox to "automatically check for updates"? Under Yosemite or El Cap, it has never once notified me of any update, so I just figured it didn't work. Maybe the notifications only work under 10.9.

Thanks for the reply. As you mentioned, I have looked for "a checkbox to automatically check for updates", but have not found any such field in System-Preferences --> Logitech Options (old version) => Wireless Mouse MX Master, and neither does the newest version of Logitech Options (see below).

I was finally able to manually install the latest version 5.20.124 of Logitech Options downloaded from Logitech's website. Prior attempts to manually install had not worked, perhaps because after downloading the zip archive I renamed it to identify for me the version and date downloaded. Those renamed zip files did not create an APP file, but when I tried opening the Logitech zip file without renaming first, that operation did result in an APP file which in turn installed Logitech Options successfully.

Hope this helps someone else.
