I ditched my scheduled conference call to California at 5pm and ran down to Regent Street to see the torch go past. Totally unprofessional of me, but definitely beat talking about network stuff :D

Can't blame you, especially if you missed the 1908 and 1948 London Olympics! :p

Stupid NBC, they will delay the opening ceremonies by 5 hours yet not allow it to stream live online, what happened to every event streamed live?

I really wish they didn't get the contract for the next 10 years. Maybe the worst run network in history.

What's with that ? When ABC did the Olympics they always broadcast the opening and closing ceremony live no matter where it was.

For some reason NBC wants to show all the "good stuff" in primetime not thinking that there is such a thing as the internet with real time results. It has been my issue with NBC for the last 15 years of their olympic broadcasts. Just wait until they are in Rio and there is an 18 hour delay.

Guess they don't want to lose the revenue by airing live at 1PM PDT. Back home (Hong Kong), the opening ceremony airs at 3:45AM on a Saturday. Who knows what else NBC will cut out.

I will watch any and every event I can. I love the Olympics.

For some reason, I really like water polo.

But, as a guy I greatly enjoy beach volleyball and women's gymnastics.

For how we're being told that there's an oppressive police and military presence (which I certainly notice them around, smiling) it's been so friendly to be out in London this week. I'm really enjoying it. The River Thames has been so fun to watch with all the boats coming and going.

The equestrian stands are all done. I can't wait to see the cameras zipping between the towers.

And look, someone has designed a bus that does push ups. It's in Islington.

There are "Gifts from the gods" scattered about the city. Here are two I found locally.

A Shot Put in Greenwich

A Javelin in Canary Wharf

And look at this

Two helicopters have been practicing flying very low round the Thames and landing on HMS Ocean. It's really cool to watch.

I know there's plenty to be annoyed about but I'm having fun so far. :)

I noticed the friendliness bit too. Don't know whether it's because of the Games of because we're finally getting Summer, but everyone seems less in a hurry and more accommodating of each other.

My worktrip down to Docklands two days ago was very pleasant. Purple T-shirt types talking to foreigners, press crews coming and going, even the troops were having a good time.

London should always be like this :)

Good to hear you Londoners enjoying the Olympic atmosphere. It really is a wonderfully positive thing to have so many people in a city all focused on a single event like the Olympics. I still have great memories of how great it was to be out in Sydney in 2000. Wish I could be there now. London is ace at a baseline. I can only imagine how fun it would be currently. Enjoy :)

Said race goes past the end of my brother Cheese Cake's street. I've told him this is proof that he can commute into work in London by bike, but he's not having any of it. :p

You realise the race distance 150 miles right :p (I know there is a bit they go round 9 times)

I work in Canary Wharf so it will be interesting to see how late I will be when I start my journey from Paddington ;) Actually, the delays may start even earlier as I have to go through Eton first.

As for the logo, I think it looks dreadful. I have had a look at previous logos and Rio's and they're all better. A shame, as I was tempted to buy some Olympic merchandise but can't bear looking at that logo.

I guess i'm in the minority that quite like it, it is quite a clever bit of design if you really think about it, different strokes for different folks though, looking at Rio's logo i do like its simplicity, Beijing's logo was a poor effort imo.

Anyway, look way now ;)

I'm just glad we were able to send Mitt Romney over to help out. :D
