has anyone ever used the tom bihn brain cell, booq vyper, or crumpler school hymn for the PB 12"? how do those compare? I just bought a PB and really really want to make sure it's well protected running it around in college. Right now the brain cell looks the most protective, but it's also $15 more than the other 2. I'm willing to pay the extra money, but i was just wondering if anyone had experience with any of these to offer a comparison/review. Thanks!

I might be shortly going on Business trip overseas need a good stong laptop bag to take with me so far like the design of the Booq Cobra XM but is it a really heavy bag when its empty dont want to start off heavy!

In regards to the Boa.xm

I'm headed off to college in the fall and recently purchased a 15 inch PB.

Looking at booq's site has me intrigued in the BP3 and the Boa.XM with a vyper sleeve on the side. The BP3 seems like it would be a better school backpack with laptop carrying capabilities, but the Boa.XM is a much sleeker bag (in my opinion)

Can anyone comment on the college capabilities of either bag?

I'm wondering if anyone has any info on Canadian sites where the best of these sleeves might be purchased. Duty/brokerage fees can double the cost of some products.

Thanks!

For Crumpler, try eBay user, photococan. I purchased a school hymn from them and I didn't pay duty nor taxes!

I've been trying to buy the Booq Viper M sleeve for over 1 month now. They keep pushing back the date of shipping. And they have not sent any emails about the delay. How can they run a business like this?

Alright guys,
I'm looking for the Incase Portfolio Maharam Series in either the Downtown or Safari color schemes. If anyone knows where I can pick one of these up, please let me know. I'm deciding between one of those (if I can ever find one) or a Brenthaven Profile 12/15. Give me your thoughts.

anyone has a nice leather case? Can you post pics and inform me where you got it? Cost is not a problem, I just don't want another "Targus" looking kinda bag.

So, I e-mailed Incase about my question and they told me that both the Moya and Maharam lines have been discontinued. This is very disappointing. I guess it is off to the Brenthaven Profile 15 or Pro 12/15. What do you guys think would be best? Take in mind that it will be for a 15" PowerBook and I will be attending college with this bag.

I just bought an incase Nylon backpack for my 17" Powerbook. I was considering the Axio Hybrid and was going to purchase the Booq XL, but when I went to the Apple Store I couldn't justify spending another $100 on a bag. (Incase backpack was $60).

I'm very happy with the bag - it has all the compartments I need and my Powerbook is pretty well padded and it fits my 17" fine.

The best part is the bag looks pretty small. Looks just as big as most regular backpacks but fits everything I need it to (Powerbook, couple notebooks, 1-2 books, CD's/ipod/pencils/misc).

I'm looking for a backpack or a shoulder bag for school. I have to carry about 10 cm (4 inches) of my book (some of them are A4, some A5 format), a small bottle, a charger and my 12'' PowerBook. If I would chose a shoulder bag, my books would be thinner, because I could pack them like a A4 format (7 cm - 2,75 in). photo 1 photo 2

Any suggestions?

Anyone got any recommendations on a 12" School Hymn (Crumpler) versus a 12" PowerSleeve (Booq)?

They both look really good and are priced similarly... I almost prefer the School Hymn, but the PowerSleeve has that strap..

I received my Booq Vyper XS for the 12" PB/iBook and it is a gem. It fits my father's iBook perfectly and, in my opinion, my PB even better. The resistant foam is quite strong and the whole unit feels very durable. The zippers are well-removed from the interior, so as to not allow contact between the laptop and the zipper line (there is a fabric partition to guard against scratches). I am very pleased.

I ordered mine on June 8th and at the time the shipping date was June 10th. My order did not ship on that date and the next listed shipping date was June 20th. My order shipped of June 20th and received it in two days. Booq is not a large manufacturer of goods and does therefore not have large resource for mass manufacturing. If you want one of the products, order now, just as they suggest, and you'll get it in as soon as it is available. From the detail and care I am witnessing in this Vyper XS, I do not blame them for taking their time to get products to customers. As a testament to the waiting list, it just shows that people see the quality and value in their goods.

To realityisterror, check out the Vyper sleeves if you want just the sleeve. The PowerSleeves are nice, but serve more so as a full laptop & accessory bag.

Booq Vyper.xm

I got BOOQ's brand new vyper xm a few weeks ago and it has been great. Fits thr 14'' iBook PERFECTLY! I love it and take it everywhere I go now.

Reliable US vendors of Zeroshock or STM Rebound?

This is a great forum and thread! I've been trying to make up my mind on a work-in type sleeve for a 12" powerbook - and I've finally decided upon either the Zeroshock or STM Rebound sleeve...

Only problem - shinza.com website says they're currently out of Zeroshock 12" and give no definite date when they'll be available - Rebound sleeves seem to be available in Australia, England, Europe - but I am in New York, NY, USA and would rather not pay huge shipping costs and have to wait 3 weeks for delivery from overseas.

Zeroshocks are being sold on US ebay by I think "Elecom Warehouse" who charge .99 for the bag itself but $36.00 for shipping. Also- didn't go through ALL the glowing user comments on thier page, but those I saw were obviously copy and past job fakes (several "A++++!'s", etc.).

I have no experience buying on ebay, so maybe someone can reassure me that the above is some sort of common ebay practice and the seller seems fine (maybe high shipping prices deal with export costs from Japan?)

Barring that - anyone know of anyplace in the US that carries not just STM bags, but specifically the Rebound bag?

-Or - know when Shinza.com is going to get in a new shipment of 12" Zeroshocks? (I emailed them to ask, but they haven't replied)

-Finally - the Radtech Neocase - in pictures it looks like the current Shoreline sleeve, which I find too flimsy for my tastes - has anyone actually SEEN it and can say if the Neocase is any more substantial?-----------Thanks!

When I had my 12", the Booq fit it like a glove, loved that. Not sure about the Crumpler though. It too might work great.

One frustrating thing is that neither the 14" or 15" Powersleeve fit the 15" Powerbook as well as the 12" Booq fits the 12" PB.

I have a brand new 15' Powerbook. What sleeve would you guys recommend? I would like the most possible protection for a reasonable price. I'm leaning towards the Booq Vyper. My main question is do I get the Vyper M or the Vyper L??????? My PB will only be transported in a Laptop bag that I already have, so I just need a sleeve for it to ensure scratch and shock protection.

Ok, well since Booq doesn't accept Paypal, I'm having trouble. I really wanted the Booq Vyper M, but am now thinking about the Red SeGai from http://www.segai.com/SS_301.htm. Can anyone tell me anything about the SeGai? Or maybe take a look at it, and tell me what you think?! This sux, I really wanted the Vyper!

Ok well, I got very lucky and ended up getting my first choice bag!! Thanks to "WestSide Guy's" post on here I found the Crumpler School Hymn (Red of course) on BagYou.com, and they accepted PayPal, and it will arrive at my house in 2 days. Freakin' Beautiful!!!! Thank God For This THEAD!!!!!

I just bought a brand-new Incase Sleeve from the apple store, and I'm in love with it. I mostly carry it inside my generic Jansport backpack, and it is really well built.

Definitely recommended. :D

does anyone with a targus TSB312 sport laptop backpack know if the mesh pocket on the side will fit a large nalgene bottle (1L)?

Also, I have an 12" ibook G4, will it fit in the targus sport backpack with my tucano sleeve?

Down to 4 Choices...

Hey all,

I am looking for a sleeve for a 14” iBook and ‘am looking at 4 options right now. Would appreciate any comments/advice/suggestions from anyone that has used one or more of these (or another sleeve in the same price range, less than US$45, that would ship to Canada):

1. Vyper XM by Booq - http://www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=362

2. SportFolio Sleeve by Marware - http://www.marware.com/cgi-bin/WebO...catalogCatID=122&wosid=uqW85xDsuLgJbUHVEtTAEw

3. NeoCase by RadTech - http://www.radtech.us/Products/NeoCase.aspx

4. bitolithic sleeve - http://www.bitolithic.com/bags/index.htm

Thanks for your help :)

I just got theVyper XM by Booq for the 14" iBook. I would recommend it highly. Fits perfectly and seems like it will keep the iBook safe in any backpack or book bag.

Thanks ChuckF. Two follow-ups for you:
1. How bulky (or not) is the Vyper? It *looks* like it may be bulky, but one can never really tell these things unless one has one at hand, like you :)
2. How is the workmanship? (I've heard some people complain the stitching is shoddy).
