School Hymn?

Hello,

Does anyone have the small School Hymn for the 12" Powerbook? Also, does anyone have anythng from Willow Designs?

Wow, i'm now entering the world of cases and bags... considering things I never thought I would.

So I'm thinking of a Booq Vyper M to be placed into a Crumpler Very Busy Man.

Is this a good combo? Or am I better off just getting a Crumpler combo of School Hymn 15 and a Very Busy Man?

Anyone have experiences with these bags?

Thanks.

After buying my 17" powerbook this thread was a Godsend. I ended up buying an Acmemade felt bag and it's fantastic - I use it, even when I'm not carrying my PB, for carrying documents iPod etc.

The only problem I've had is that the flap fixings broke on the first one - Acmemade replaced it, including postage costs to and from the US, without any quibbles.

Unfortunately my new one has had the same problem. But to be honest I think that's to do with me trying to pack too much into the front pocket, like my video camera...

Like what adriantoll mentioned above, this thread is truly remarkable. Thank you to Celeron for listing all the links and for everyone else who has contributed. You guys are totally awesome! :D

I actually just purchased a 15" PB today and have been looking for a laptop case. The Booq PowerSleeve 15 seems to be the one for me, but I just wanted to may be double confirm it's protection. I would like to use it for traveling as well, but mainly it is going to be used to go around campus. What do you all think? Feedback would be totally appreciated! :)

Sams club here in Phoenix has a Samsonite 17" notebook case for $29.95. Fits my 17" Powerbook like a glove. 10 year warranty. Hopefully they would have them or could order them at other stores around the country or maybe available from their website. Cheapest comparable case I found was a Targus for $59.95

14'' iBook

I've been reading through this and it is full of lots of good places but I was wondering if anyone reccomended something specifically for a 14 inch screen ibook. I checked out the booq site but they don't make anything special for this and also their viper sleeve or whatever only came made for the 15 inch powerbook and said the ibook would fit loosely.

Boa.XM or BP3?

I've been looking at both and was wondering what ya'll thought. I havn't seen either in person so I'm trying to figure out if the BP3 is a bit to bulky or the Boa.XM is too small?

Crumpler

Hi

Does anybody here currently have one of these being used for a 12" iBook:

Crumpler neoprene sleeve -The Gimp 12" Standard-blk/orange

Or a Crippy Duck

I'd love to know what you think of them as they look the business and when I get (tic, toc, tic toc) my iBook I'll probably go for one of these.

Hello greenguy4! I actually purchased the BP3 System and I must say that it is a bit bulky for me (I'm a girl), but it does fit my 15" PB along with my large binder and other items needed for school. I purchased their "system" because of the fact that they had other items included with it. The system that I purchased was with their PowerSleeve which I currently don't use as much because I need to also carry my binder and other items. I also got a Vyper sleeve which I'm waiting for shipping on so we'll see how that goes. I hope that helps you. The Boa does not seem to bulky and their 2006 version is currently out of stock.

Crumpler and segai

I have recently purchased a 12" powerbook. Now I need a sleeve.
I started looking for one. My criteria were a very snug fit, so I won't waste more space and that the computer won't slide around in the sleeve. I was also looking into a less boring look than the regular black.

ANyway, I am down to crumpler scholl hymn 12 and segai now.

From what I read from the reviews, the crumpler is actually a not so snug fit for the 12" powerbook. They give domensions. but my understanding is that often the dimesnsions given are not the actual measurements, but the dimensions of the computer it is "meant" for. Is this everyone's opinion or are the reviews exagerated?

I could not find any reviews about the segai ( http://www.segai.com ). So, if anybody could tell me if they have the sleeve if it fits the 12" powerbook snugly, that would be wonderful.

Also, I was first leaning more towards the crumpler since it has a semi-hard sehll and I thought that would be better protection than the thick neoprene material of the segai. But then, I am worried that if it is not going to be a snug fit, it may start hitting the shell. Is that the case?

What would you say about the protection the crumpler school hymn 12 and the segai 12" powerbook sleeve offer?

Thanks a lot!

I have a 15" PB and had the same dilemma as you. I went with the Crumpler because of the semi-rigid material and the soft lining. Also, it's not much bigger/thicker than the PB itself. I like that because I put it into another bag, my backpack or other bag. Sometimes I can just carry it like a book.

The Crumpler School Hymn fit the 15" snugly. If the 12" Crumpler doesn't fit as snugly, you can probably add some foam to it to make it fit better.

The neoprene in the Segai is good padding for soft bumps. However, if you'r e going to be rough (nobody means to be) then the Crumpler would be better.

I'm very happy with the Crumpler.

Good luck!

I went with the BooqBag Powersleeve.

They had good email communication, but no response to two messages left on voice mail. I was wanting to add the Vyper . Glad they didn't respond. I have no need for a Vyper after seeing the PowerSleeve. The PowerSleeve is small enough to put the PB in there and then put in a larger bag, suitcase, backpack, etc. It also has a zippered bag large enough for the power adapter with our without the extension and a zippered compartment on the rear side for legal sized file (small) or individual sheets of paper. Perfect solution for me.

To add to the list of bags...

Love the Victorinox stuff and they are really durable and for the price you pay, I think they include some form of insurance for the bag, that if you lose it, it will be tracked back to you (provided you register it of course).

I was tossing between Swiss Army and Kenneth Cole, and in the end, since I get a discount at KC's I bought this instead.

It is still sitting in the box as I am still waiting for the new iBooks. Talk about putting the cart before the horse. :p

Glad you went with the PowerSleeve. Shipping is pretty fast especially if you are in CA. I also bought myself a Vyper sleeve because I can put the sleeve into the BP3 bag. Pretty good and I hope you enjoy your PowerSleeve! :D

Cotton, how did you find the Vyper? I was tempted a while back but it was out of stock for months so I went with a neoprene sleeve instead.

They're in stock as of a few days ago.

In stock? Sweet. Cotton (or anyone else) - we await your verdict on the Vyper!

Hey Lau! Like what they said on their website, the Vyper (medium) fits my 15" PB like a glove. It gives my PB added protection when I put it in with my BP3 bag. I'm happy with the Vyper sleeve. Hope that helps you. Let me know if you have any other questions.

cotten--what do you think about the BP.3? I was thinking about buying it but it seems a bit bulky?

Hey greenguy4! Yes, to me, it was rather bulky, but it does allow me to put lots of stuff in the front pockets including a 2" 3 ring binder, a few books, and other things. Keep in mind that I am a woman and don't have broad shoulders so the straps are a bit wide for me. :) However, I don't regret purchasing it because it has lots of pockets to keep stuff in. There are two side pockets and a host of other pockets inside and outside. I even just recently found out there is another pocket on the side that is a little hidden. That was a nice surprise. Are you thinking about going with the BP3?

Thanks Cotton, I'm seriously considering it now. I've got a 12" PowerBook though, but I imagine it also fits well. The reason I'm now definitely considering it is I droppped my PowerBook yesterday  It was less than a foot drop, but was still terrifying and there's now a slight buckle where the CD slot is. Well, there was, I hammered it out with a big hammer :D

So, it made me realise something regarding bags. I dropped it as I was taking it out of my bag, to then unzip the sleeve on a table. If I had had a proper laptop bag, I wouldn't have bothered with a sleeve, and it would have hit the floor unprotected. So I definitely think a really tough sleeve's the way to go for me, cause if I'd had one yesterday it would have bounced, and my heart wouldn't have *actually* stopped, and I wouldn't have felt sick for an hour afterwards. :)

Oh Lau, just you saying that your PB dropped to the floor and you hammered it out with a hammer made me go into shock! ;) However, I am glad that you are currently seriuosly considering something (anything) to protect your PB from getting dented again. I hope that nothing was seriously damaged, but I do know that the PBs do have this thing where they protect the HD when it "senses" a drop. I don't know how they do it, but it is cool that at least Apple thought about that one. :) Good luck and I hope you get your sleeve quick!
