I just got the iPad Pro 12,9 inch with the Apple Pencil, and now I'm looking for some accessories.

The iPad is primarily for creating art and I will be carrying it with me outside for plein air painting. I need a case that is steady and versatile, so the iPad can be propped up in many different angles and steady enough so I can push hard with the pencil.

I'm not sure what look I want on the case. Apples smart cover looks very sleek (though a bit on the expensive side), and I've also seen some classy leather cases... I think I'm more partial to the leather look, if it's elegant and well made, but I'm open for suggestions.

I would also need a discreet bag to carry things around in.

Lastly, a screen protector. I'm not actually too concerned with the protective qualities. Just looking for something fairly cheap that has a good satin/matte finish, to remove some of the glare (nothing aggressive that ruins the look of the screen) and gives a little tooth to the pencil.
The last point is the most important. I want the screen to feel more like paper when drawing. Just a little bit of tooth and friction to make drawing easier.

Anyhow, I would appreciate any suggestions you might have.

Read how you plan to use it and thought you might like the commuter case I bought for my iPadPro 12.9 off Amazon about a month ago, made by a UK company, CUVR. It stores my Pencil, protects the iPP, acts as a stand and has a well constructed carry handle. Here's the thread I started; posted a number of photos so you should get a good idea of how it can be positioned.

If you have any questions, just ask. I like the case so much that I haven't returned to my Apple cover/case that I had been using. Great price right now thru Amazon until sold out. I believe they are working on a new version with rear camera access (only negative issue for some people).
