I get how flash will be useful, but i'm not entirely sure how the input interface will work. flash takes input from a mouse and keyboard simultaneously, unlike HTML.

I wonder how this will go over with the ATT where the TOS says we cannot access audio/video over EDGE.

how does that fly with YouTube at the moment? <edit>that was pointless... beaten!</edit>

<predict>At some point, Apple is going to release iPhone OS 2.0, and it's going to cost $39.</predict>

But for now, these free feature-additions sure are nice. :)

I would say that when our contracts expire there is some likelihood we may have to start paying. I dunno, though, I can see that being frustrating for the user base to experience some kind of "check" a la the SIM activation you have to do after each FW update that makes sure your account is still active and under contract.

Hey guys,

Andru from Gear Live here. I just wanted to make sure we aren't misunderstood in our article. We did not pinpoint the SDK launch as the launch of Flash on the iPhone as being from the source. What we said was:

"Speculating a bit further on our own, we are guessing that it would be pretty convenient for Flash support to be introduced alongside the iPhone SDK, wouldn’t you say?"

Notice, we said speculating ON OUR OWN. That is just my own personal opinion. So yes, Flash is coming soon. That is from our sources. As far as Flash being included with the SDK, that is just my own personal best guess.

Cool? ;)

BTW - we saw a surge of Diggs after this was posted on MacRumors. Thanks guys - it is appreciated :)

If not Adobe would develop one themselves ... would make sense either way

You know, now that I think about it, I really don't mind paying for the upgrades for my touch. You iPhone users are paying at least $60 a month for service and we aren't.

Oh, snap!

If the iPhone didn't exist would I still be paying $60 a month for cell phone service? Yesssss.

Oh, snap!

Thank the good Lord! The only other thing I would REALLY REALLY want to see is support for my college wifi network (WPA2 Enterprise with TLS). Please? :apple:

I am not sure that is guaranteed. Apple customizes and releases Java on OS X, even though it should be done by Sun (and would probably work a LOT better if it did). I can easily see Apple not being willing to trust Adobe to get Flash right on the iPhone... look how bad it is on OS X, lol.

Can it be turned off?

I personally do not care for Flash on a mobile device. It will slow down the web experience and likely make a hit to the battery life. I hope there will be an option to turn Flash support off. That those who "need" it can and those who refuse it can as well.

Ah... but that's like saying that Apple should give Leopard to everyone who buys a copy of Vista, since they still paid for an OS.

I don't suppose this would allow me to watch RealPlayer live feeds of CBS's Big Brother on the phone - would it?

iPhone users pay every month. That's why they get these updates for "free". If Apple were to just hand out the updates to iPod touch users, you'd really be getting them for free. They're not free. iPhone users pay for them indirectly.

You'd think Touch users would've understood this when the big, bad $20 update was released, but apparently a lot didn't. Apple gets some sort of kickback from each iPhone plan, so they can afford to make small updates like that.
