My Wife and I attended Woz's 3rd wedding and another party in that house... Music was provided by EmmyLou Harris and her Band.

The pictures and listing don't do the home justice...

It has/had an indoor/outdoor swimming pool in one of the bedrooms.

The outdoor bar-b-que area had/has man-made caves as a play area for the kids.

It was very comfortably furnished and he could easily entertain several hundred people.

I realize that I am in the minority here, but I have always admired Mr. Wozniak more than the other Steve. But to actually know and be friends with him...wow!

As far as the house is concerned, I thought it was beautiful. I loved the kitchen and all the fountains were/are a really nice touch.

I don't think he built this house. He might have given an architect input into what he wanted. Maybe he even roughly laid out and designed much of it. But built? No. :)

Why are people caught up over the phrase "house that Woz built?" When someone tells you they are building a new house do you say "Wow, I didn't know that you could build houses too!" Everyone understands that the phase "we built this house" means "we didn't buy an existing house or a house in a subdivision, we worked with an architect and a custom home builder to get our house built." But people don't say that whole phrase because they expect reasonably educated people to understand that "we built this house" doesn't mean we actually made it. That's why people who did make their own house say "I built this house with my own hands." If the former meant that, then you wouldn't need to clarify by adding the "with my own hands" bit.

I know you were probably just being humorous, but this wasn't the only post that seemed to have issues with that phrase.

The OTHER Steve? "Hands in the Palm". And you would like to befriend him? Oy vey, people giving "celebrities" so much praise.

Not to be pedantic, but I think even the Woz had to hire an architect, construction workers, shippers, manufacturers, and others to make and build the house...

If he himself built it all with assistance from nobody else, it'd probably be worth 1000x as much (seriously).

Because the media is supposed to be about facts and ensuring integrity*. Not sensationalizing and misadvertising for cheap ratings and profiteering.

* forgive me for laughing out loud in utter hysterics; on mainstream world/national news sites people are a thousand times more critical, and very rightly so...

To spare my fellow Brits.. Half a bath is a toilet.

Actually, half a bath is a toilet and a sink. Just a toilet is a quarter-bath. Usually.

Anyhow, "post modern"? Realtors are a funny bunch. When they don't get the architectural style (and mainly they don't), they just make up something that sounds cool.

is that house in the style of "art deco?" not sure. I like jobs house better.

No.

Bay Area real estate is a joke. Families from China pooling cash together to buy a two bedroom condemned crackerbox of a house for millions, simply because it's a safe place to stash their money.

Woz's home at least looks like it is worth the $$$. ;)
Try coming to Vancouver: http://www.vancouverobserver.com/ci...tor-calls-vancouvers-housing-market-unhealthy

There are stories of people from Hong Kong bidding up the price on houses that they've never even seen. It's nuts here. This is a real website using real prices in the Vancouver area:

http://www.crackshackormansion.com

Here's some of Vancouver's priciest listings this month: http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2013/03/17/most-expensive-house-in-vancouver-march-2013_n_2886207.html

It's just crazy. Houses that sell for $5+ million here are worth less than $1 million anywhere else.

I can't even begin to imagine how much property tax You'd have to pay With it being in California.

With it being in California, the property tax rate is fixed at 1% of assessed valuation and a maximum increase of 2% assessed valuation each year until the property is sold again.

Here I thought The Woz was a down to earth dude who cared more about gadgets and tech than ostentatious displays of wealth. This thing is 100x more pretentious than Steve Jobs's house. When I see a house like this, I think "rich arsehole with whom I would NOT want to have a beer with".

It would take an army of grounds keepers just to keep the damn thing maintained. Yes, a house like this may get you a hot wife, but those grounds keepers will be servicing her on a regular basis while you're out making money to pour into the house.

I've never had a beer with Woz, but I actually have a friend who took him to lunch, and from what I hear he is definitely the kind of guy you'd want to have a beer with. Very laid back, easy to talk to, and has an awesome watch.

He also signed my friend's rMBP :D

Oh no, I didn't mean to imply that The Woz was that sort of arsehole, but I can see how my post sort of read that way.

Notably, he doesn't live in this house any longer. I think his wife from that era dumped him rather soon for a fat divorce settlement. Sudden wealth has a way of impairing the judgement of even the best people.

Why is this on the front page?

Like why are you asking?

And why am I reading your useless comment?

And.... you know where this is going.

You would rather not have a hot wife?

damn, prop13 sucks (but whoever could afford this doesn't care)! so if it's sold for $4.7 mil, that's at least $47,000/yr not including the amount to amortize voter-approved bonds. Then factor in utilities for such a large house! That water bill must be insane.
