looked through this thread and didnt see a discussion about it.

does anyone have any ideas as to why Sun was not sent back with Jack, Kate, Sayid, and Hurly to '77? i can understand why Locke and Ben werent but why not Sun? it's something that has been bugging me.

A lot of people are thinking that she wasn't "whole" because she didn't have her baby with her. She was pregnant when she left the island and wasn't when she returned.

If that's not the reason, then I have no clue why she is where she is.

hmm interesting.

my theory is a bit more uninteresting. i think that if Sun went back with the others that it would just be a lot more uninteresting for the plot. haha i know its lame but it's a lot better that she didnt because it gives her drive to do something. if she just went back and was reunited with Jin it would have been pretty uninteresting. but i think your explanation is a good way to keep it interesting and mystical the Lost way.

When Locke went to the cabin it was Jacks father in the rocking chair. And Claire was there too.
In Season 4 episode 1 Hurley finds someone in the cabin also. It looks like either Christian Shepard or Jack. Whoever it was the camera really emphasized the white shoes on his feet.

Yeah, but Jack's father said that he wasn't Jacob, he was talking FOR Jacob.

I wouldn't be surprised that the Oceanic livers (Not the 6 that went back to the mainland) have all been to the island before '07.

Like Miles, he went on the island because he was there before (When he was born).

When Claire disappeared a few episodes ago I think she went back in time and wound up in the cabin with Christian.
Or I'm just confused. Which is normal for me.:p

this is, as far as i know, the only image we have seen of him.

I've had this theory for a season or so now that Jacob is actually Horace Goodspeed, leader of the 1977 DHARMA Initiative. I think it was towards the end of season 3 or 4, that Locke saw a dead Horace with a nosebleed building his "cabin" in the jungle. Locke also found bluprints for Jacob's cabin in dead Horace's shirt pocket when Locke found his dead body in the mass grave. And I swear that this photo resembles his profile. Same nose, chin, forehead and hair. I don't have any other references, just a strong hunch.

Look at the top photo. Does that Shirt / Jacket look like something that would have been worn on the Blackrock?

Interesting theory about Horace, since there seems to have been a mutiny of sorts in the Darma camp...

I don't think Horace is Jacob as I think Jacob is much older than that. And we saw Horace in the mainland (when Ben was born) so I don't think so.

I'm just trying to figure out what exactly Jacob is. I was thinking it was the island but John says the island told him what would happen (as opposed to Jacob) so I think there might be some sort of distinction there (or not.) Maybe Jacob is some sort of god or something and he speaks through dead bodies. Reminds me of how Smokie took the form of Yemi and Alex... has it been said by the writers that Smokie is not Jacob? I'm not sure how I'd feel about that if it was, but I could see some connection there.

What is the Black Rock? I don't remember that name...
It's the ship that's located a couple miles inland, was an African slave ship. It was first seen in season one when the losties went to go get some dynamite for the hatch (Artz goes boom.) We've seen Widmore bidding on the captain's log of the Black Rock. Which is interesting knowing that he was an Other and most likely knew it was there. Probably trying to find his way back to the island.

The Horace Jacob theory make a lot of sense if you think about it logically. they do look similar Locke has a dream of Horace building the cabin, finding the blueprint in his pocket, but the only thing to me keeping this from being a good theory is why would the others take orders from a guy they are at war with. maybe this is why Locke is on his way to kill him. because Jacob/Horace is some how keeping the island captive or something. and that "help me" when the cabin gets up set is really the island talking. i just kind of came up with this as i was writing but it would kind of explain why Locke is on his way to kill Jacob. Another little aspect is how do you get Jacob from Horace?

Maybe Jacob is that huge Egyptian statue. The Others found out that the statue was talking, so they ripped it down and stuffed it somewhere in the tunnels.

So Horace can be Jacob, the smoke monster can be Jacob, the statue can be Jacob, and Richard can be Jacob. Why exactly can't future Locke be Jacob?
No one has really commented as to why he can't be, besides themoonisdown09 saying he's just not too sure about it.

I'm not trying to beat this theory of mine into everyones' heads (believe me, I'm not going to keep repeating it- I won't mention it again if no one wants to talk about it), but I just can't figure out the reasons opposed to this theory.

It seems to me that Locke is being groomed for a great purpose. Maybe that purpose is to become Jacob, whatever Jacob really is.

to me the big thing is the eye color is wrong.

Locke's

Jacob's

and

as you can see Locke's eye is a greenish blue, and Jacob's is brown. plus facial it doesnt look right. but other than that there is no good evidence i guess.

Ya know what those eyes looking out from the cabin look a lot like Desmond's eyes.

[edit] nope. I got it. It's Daniel. [/edit]

Lads I have confession to make, I'm Jacob.

Just watched this episode and rather liked it. Love the pacing of the final set of episodes of a Lost series. But I'm not sure about the Losties sailing off in the sub - that just seemed a bit out of character. Even if was against their will (okay so it seemed more like a strange thing for the writers to do, since we know for certain the members of that sub all make it safely home).

Unless the sub doesn't make it on this occasion and they're all just pulling out collective leg. I mean Kate, Sawyer and Juliette have not left the show.

On a side note I thought the finale was last night so I stayed up till 4:30am waiting for it to appear on the download sites ... I like to wake up with it downloaded rather than battling daytime connection speeds.

the scenes from the finale show that sawyer, juliet, and kate comeback somehow.

watch here

from the great Lost spoilers site is a scene form next weeks finale. it looks to be taken by someone as a home video kind of thing. at the end the actors go out of charaecter kind of cool.

*spoiler alert* of course

VIDEO

to me this kind of stuff doesn't ruin the episode. it actually gets me more excited for some reason.

Eh. I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm still not convinced by any theory just yet, but I still like mine.

Do we know for sure, without a doubt, that that is Jacob in those photos?

I'm wondering if Locke means to kill Jacob metaphorically -- maybe to unchain the Others from their allegiance to him. Maybe Jacob doesn't really exist.

I'm convinced Richard is from the Black Rock. Him making that ship in a bottle was a clue to his origins.

One last thing ... Lost usually goes out with an arresting image (the island disappearing, the hatch blowing open ...). I think it's pretty much a given that the bomb goes off next week, probably destroying the island.

i think you are right it would be interesting. it would be a pretty good cliffhanger. Emerson (guy who plays Ben) said that at the end of the finale it will leave you wondering who will be back for the next season. so a h-bomb going off would definitely tie into that comment.
