getting pretty pumped for tonite's episode. one little theory i have about the whatever happened, happened situations. to me it is clear that they are on a set time line. because Eloise Hawking had that conversation with Widmore saying that she sent her son back there knowing full well what was going to happen. That to me means that she remembers shooting her son. also Miles seeing his father sending them off the island shows again that it always happened that way. Because Miles, Hurly, and Jin were the ones that convinced Dr. Chang to order the evacuation. So everything is happening exactly like it was supposed to.

6 HOURS!!

I could see this. However, I am not positive about it. Another option is that all of those things would have happened with or without the events of the time traveling survivors. With the exception of Ellie killing Faraday and thus being motivated to lead Jack to the bomb (which wouldn't have had to happen anyways), all of the other things that happened could have happened regardless. I wouldn't put it past the writers misdirecting us with this - it seems to us that the survivors are making major impacts, but in reality they are just placebos. This would be convenient for the plot, because everything could just go back to normal - no dead Faraday, etc.

However, this theory is basically ruined if we find out that Ellie did indeed know she was sending her son to be killed by her own hand when she sent a sick Faraday to the Island on the freighter.

I feel like I'm losing a beloved pet.
Record the show tonite, then watch one minute of it per day. That way you don't have to quit cold turkey, and it won't be long after you finish before Season 6 starts!

Sounds like you're right. I didn't watch it when it aired a few weeks ago so I wasn't sure. Mehhhh.

I didn't watch it the other week either. I'll be watching Lost from 8-11 tonight!!!

That sounds like a good idea. Maybe I'll try it... no, I'll just watch it tonight. :D

How on earth could anybody NOT watch it tonight ?..

Some of you have seen my beard. I need to get out of the house for a shave and a haircut. Something I've been putting off since this season started!! :p

So I guess the reason why Jack, Hurley, Sayid and Kate went back to 1977 is because they didn't replicate the circumstances from the original flight the same way. Interesting... I was thinking it was the other way around and that Sayid, Sun and Ben didn't replicate the circumstances.

What are we going to do with all of the extra time we'll have once Lost Season 5 is over?

Perhaps I'll pay the unopened bills that have piled up since January 21, go back to showing up at work, put out the fire that started in another room of our house sometime in March, or read the 638,442 posts made in other MacRumors threads since Season 5 started.

It's gonna be strange not watching Lost each Wednesday, but we've had to go through this before so I guess we can do it again.

Screw that.... WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO ONE YEAR FROM NOW WHEN THE SHOW ENDS?!?!?!?!?!?!?

That is going to be one of the most bittersweet moments of my life. I don't even want to think about it. :(

Enjoy the finale everyone! Still 3 hours to go here...

That was an awesome season finale. So many questions answered and so many more questions raised. I don't even know where to start.

1) What exactly is the loophole that Locke found out and took advantage of?
2) Is Jacob really dead?
3) It looks like Jacob doesn't age and when Locke asked Richard why he (Richard) didn't age, he said it was because of Jacob. What happened?
4) Jacob "ran into" each one of the Oceanic 6 sometime before the crash people from flight 815. Why?
5) Who exactly are the other people from flight 316? How did they know to speak to Richard and ask that question about the shadow?

Holy Mother of Jesus!

Great way to end the season. I'm wondering how there are 2 Locke's? Is one Whidmore with plastic surgery (The one that went and killed Jacob)

And Jacob! I thought he was invincible or something!

Those bastards..

So Lockes been the bad guy all along..

Locke isn't the bad guy, he was being manipulated by the other guy that wanted to kill Jacob when we see them talking to each other. That's when the black rock comes and richard etc.

Ohhhh. Maybe that's the loophole Jacob was talking about when he saw Locke? When Jacob and that other guy were talking at the beginning of the episode, that guy said he wanted to kill Jacob and that he couldn't, but he was going to find a loophole.

Wow... What a season finale. Pretty mind blowing, I knew the rest of the survivors (from the 2nd plane crash) were more meaningful to the show. Now we know.

1. The loophole is the guy that was with Jacob in the beginning. He was the one sitting on the beach that hated Jacob. I assume he had surgery to look like Locke, since Locke was still in the plane.
2. If you were stabbed and set on fire... it would be pretty safe to say he's dead. :D ;)
3. I don't think we found the answer to that yet. Looks like they all pre-date at least the Blackrock which I assume was the ship offshore. Since he weaved the Egyptian Art, I think it's safe to say he was there from the beginning.
4. I guess he was helping Destiny along.

We know that Richard was touched by Jacob somehow, like when Jacob brought Locke back to life after that miraculous fall that his father helped him take.

There's so many things that happened tonight, I really have to re-watch it.

I can't wait to find the translation to the question "What lies in the Shadow of the statue". The writers are seriously F***ing with us by answering in Portugese???

We still don't know what happened to the statue, I can only guess the Blackrock fired the cannons and blew it away.

Very dramatic making the explosion the end of the season. Sorry to see Juliette go though (although we may never really know until next season).

Loved the scene where Rose and Bernard came out of the Brush. I'm glad to see they gave closure to the two of them. I think that's the last we'll see of them.

There's just too many thoughts running wild at this point. I'm sure there's a hundred more things we'll bring up over the next few days! LOL

1) "Loophole" seems like such a modern word, and yet It seems obvious Jacob must date back thousands (or maybe just hundreds) of years. [Merriam-Webster online dates it to 1591.]

4) Not quite ... Sawyer and Locke aren't part of the Oceanic Six, and Jacob ran into Sayid and Hurley after they returned. Kate, Jack and Sun were before the crash (and Aaron's one of the six, too).

5) What language was Richard speaking? Spanish, or maybe another Portuguese reference?

I'm wondering if Locke, Alex aren't Jacob's "companion" all manifestations of the smoke monster.

I'm also wondering if the war Widmore was talking about will be between the people loyal to Jacob and the people loyal to "Locke" and Ben.

And it was really great to see Rose and Bernard.

mt

so Locke was really that guy in the beginning and he was using his body. then why was Locke's body in the box. my guess is that guy is smoky. since smoky is the island's security system he would be mad about people coming to the island and wants to kill Jacob for letting the Black Rock come.

since i guess Juliet hitting the bomb with a rock (little  if you ask me but what ever) seemed to work i guess we have no idea who is dead or alive anymore. so i cant really say if im sad to see Juliet go or Sayid but i guess we never actually saw him die.

im so pissed now that i have to wait about 230 days until the next episode!! ahhhh.

so Locke was really that guy in the beginning and he was using his body. then why was Locke's body in the box.

Locke died by Ben's hand. Ben said he never saw the island do anything like bring a dead guy back to life, I guess he was right, since the new survivors pulled the real Locke's body out of the casket in the cargo hold. I can only assume he had plastic surgery to look like Locke.

I suspect that Jacob knew what was coming and wanted to die. Ben just needed to be prodded a bit to go through with it. Ben knew Locke knew things he shouldn't, but didn't trust his instincts.

I'm not sure this new Locke is really as knowlegeable as Jacob was though, since Jacob told them "They were coming" and the new Locke looked surprised and alarmed.

The Devil you know...

1) What exactly is the loophole that Locke found out and took advantage of?

So I guess there is some sort of answer to this as of now. This wasn't Locke that found the loophole or killed Jacob, it was that "other guy" from the beginning. Somehow this guy took the form of Locke, but we're not sure how yet (plastic surgery on/off the island).

This would also mean that Locke is dead and didn't come back to life. This would explain why Richard was so surprised. Richard said that he had seen the island do many things, but not bring someone back from the dead.

Edit: It looks like pilotError explained it better than me.

for those of you wondering what the answer to "What lies in the shadow of the Statue?" Richard replied in Latin "Ille Qui Nos Omnes Servabi" right now the consensus out there is it means "he that who will save us all"

It doesn't make sense to me. This supposed impostor Locke seems to have all of Locke's memories.

Wasn't there a reference to what lies the shadow of the statue in a prior episode?
