how does this work in "Lost"?

A) They are always clean, there clothes are never dirty.

B) There hair never gets longer including the mens facial hair.

C) They have torches, flashlights...

its a tv show. mind blowing right?

but seriously:

a - they bath and wash their clothes, or at least that'd be the assumption. there is fresh water there.

b - we've seen them shave before. and although the show has gone on for a long time, in the show reality it is a much shorter time frame

c - the torches i don't get honestly, flashlights were on the plane and dharma stations presumably.

A) Kate is dirty like hell. They get dirty clothes, they just change them, and sometimes they even wash them. Remember Hurley and Libby?

B) The amount of time passing away between episodes is not as long as the amount of time we have to wait for new episodes.
The first season only covered 40 days or so.

C) Inhabitants of pre-industrial places and members of pre-technological-crap civilizations were and are able to use fire before matches (or any other modern incendiary) were invented, thus a torch is not really inexplicable. Flashlights could have been salvaged from the plane or from the Dharma stations.

And Backgammon in Season 1 I highly doubt that was on the plane.

You doubt it was on the plane? Every flight I'm on I see some old couple with portable Scrabble and such games. Every time we fly back from Poland we bring a hand-crafted chess set as a gift for whoever. It's not that uncommon.

Also the other 3 points have been answered. They wash. They've spoke about shaving before (Locke says the humidity there makes it easier to shave in series 2 or 3). Torches are from the Dharma Initiative buildings.

C) They have torches, flashlights...

From what I can see on the show, the torches they use are strips of cloth from old clothing wrapped around a recently dead tree branch, and then covered in some sort of flammable liquid.

But really, it doesn't matter at all.

So back to, erm... meh. :p

Apologize if I missed this in earlier pages, but it seemed with the last episode that the issue that there is a Kwon on the "list," but no one knows who, is still an issue... I wonder if it will come back more? And anyone like my theory, that maybe the Kwon on the list is neither Jin nor Sun, but actually Ji Yeon?

One thing that bugs me about Sun is that she never mentions her daughter. That's just not like a mother.

But then, Lost has always bugged me that the people never do what you think you'd do if you were in the situation. Wouldn't you have tried to map your surroundings right away? Even if they just ventured out during daylight, you'd want to know what's around. For all you know there's a resort on the other side of the island.

And wouldn't you have looked up at the stars? Not once has anyone tried to guess where they are in the world by looking at the constellations. Not that everyone is an astronomy geek, but lots of people know the major constellations.

I never thought about the constellations part. I would assume that Locke would know some basic astronomy considering he was in Australia for a walkabout.

Seriously, all the crazy **** on LOST and this is what bothers you? :D

Locke's always held information back from everyone else though. It took a long time before he confessed to being disabled before the crash.
Thing is they know where they are. It's just that it doesn't matter - they have to approach at the right angle or have the right cargo or something?

To get to the island, you have to enter through the correct space/time continuum. ;)

This episode tonight just drove me almost insane! I'm so confused! Desmond sees his own flash sideways?

So maybe they are all dead... in the alternate off island time line. Standard Lost operating procedure. Everyone knows whats going on except for Desmond. The dude actually traveling through time and dimensions. See you in another life brother.

Absolutely MIND BLOWING episode. Was that Michael talking to Hurley in next weeks preview? We know the island didn't want him dead!

Another Musician! What is going on with that? Dogen's?? son, Jacks Son, Widmores Son (Daniel), who's next...

Bizarre coincidence - Hume was the assumed name of the scientist (Dr. Falken) who wrote the software (WOPR - War Operation Plan Response; a Nuclear War Simulation program) in War Games (who coincidentally lost a son).

The driver George played the GOD character in Hackers. Don't know why that really popped into my head. Hidden symbolism?

Desmond meets Penny in the same stadium he used to work out in (Jack was there too?)

Eloise Hawking mentions he's not ready yet, and looking (for Penny) may be against the rules - is Eloise more privy to the island than we know?

Desmond has to release a huge amount of energy (could this be the channeled energy from the Nuclear bomb - quantum entaglement kind of stuff)?

Was that the Black Rock or a different ship in Widmores office that Desmond was looking at?

George was also on the freighter that brought the mercenaries to the island.

I was half expecting to find out that Penny didn't exist in this reality. And I'm confused ... if in this reality they did blow up the bomb, shouldn't Eloise be dead?

She's one of the creepiest characters ever invented for television. She seemed at the pinnacle of lunacy tonight. Her line that Desmond was getting what he always wanted -- Charles Widmore's acceptance -- is that what these flash-sideways are portraying? What the characters always wanted? Did Jack always want a son? Did Linus always want to help Alex? Did Jin never want to marry Sun? Opens up these episodes to a new way of looking at them.

Was that the Black Rock or a different ship in Widmores office that Desmond was looking at?

To me, it looked more like a racer, like the boat that would have brought Desmond to the island in the first place.

Definitely a great ep. But I'm confused on why Desmond turned so easily. And did he join Sayid because he knew he had no chance of saying no, or because he wanted to go with him? He seemed a bit loopy.

I'm beginning to think the sideways flashes are heaven-like. When Eloise told Desmond he wasn't ready yet made me think he's not ready to return from the dead. Charlie didn't seem to have any problems dealing with near-death/death.

The last thing Penny said is the same thing all of the losties have been saying in the sideways flashes. " Do I know you ? ". She started to kinda remember too.

I thought it was Walt talking to Hugo in the preview.

^^^it was Michael.

I liked the painting of the scale with the black and white stones in Widmore's office.

I think alternate-timeline Charles is also "in the know" about the island or about things not being "right". I think that's why he keeps Desmond busy traveling all over the world on jobs. He also knows that Desmond isn't ready to figure everything out yet, so he's keeping him away from his inevitable meeting with Penny.

Or perhaps Charles thinks that it is time for Desmond to figure everything out, and that's why he assigned him to babysit Charlie.

Alls I knows.... Desmond and Faraday are two of my favorite characters, and I'm glad they're back in the mix.

Has anyone here seen "The Constant" episode recently?
It got me thinking that whatever was happening to Desmond in that episode, is somehow related to the alternative timeline of the candidates in season 6. Desmond's "timeline-jumping" is triggered by leaving the Island on a wrong axis but only he is affected because he was the only one onboard that was recently exposed to large amounts of radiation beforehand (the hatch explosion).
Now the hydrogen bomb explosion that Daniel had advised Jack and co. to do could have exposed everyone at the site to tons of radiation and triggered whatever was happening to Desmond back in season 4 to happen to them now, but modified in some sort of way. The fact that the flash sideways has so far focused on those who were at the bomb explosion site makes me think that there's something in this theory but what exactly I don't quite know yet.
Does anyone else here want to entertain this idea?

That's why I believe Juliet said it worked, she was slipping into her alternate timeline and leaving the Island timeline unlike Desmond who was flipping between both in the Constant.
I knew I was on to something..

Desmond (deservedly so) gets all the best episodes, dayum!

I've not had much sleep and when someone said "20 minutes ago" I was thinking "great! another 23 minutes left". Then it ended .

Lost and The Chinese Curse

This was one of the best episodes of Lost. Period. It was just terrific, and the Lost producers are ending the series of high notes, while I feared that it would just be more cliff-hangers and under answered questions. While there are still many more questions to be answered, I think that they will answer them, and, in my opinion, will end the series well. However, I think they in some ways have a double-edged sword. While going on for so long is well done and builds up suspense, they now have to finish terrifically, or otherwise there are going to be a lot of angry fans. The ending really has to be something for everybody and I think it will be hard, almost impossible, to achieve that goal.

Now with this episode, I kinda see a connection to the three so-called 'Chinese Curses' (Wikipedia). The first being, may you live in interesting times, the second, may you become aware of those in authority, and the third, may you find what you are looking for. They've already done the 'interesting times' bit in this episode, with the high-action, near death experiences. The 'may you become aware of those in authority' is done, with in the flash sideways Desmond finally having the respect of Widmore, and in the 'normal' timeline where the people in 'authority', a.k.a. Widmore, and MIB, find him and try to manipulate him. And the final curse, 'may you find what you are looking for', is hinted at by the driver, where he says 'Did you find what you are looking for', and with Desmond's response, 'Yes, I did.' This is where Desmond 'finds' his love Penny. Also, where the other passengers find each other, those who they are looking for. I may be completely off-kilter, but I'd like to know what you guys think of my theory!

Any idea how those 'love' mentions might play out in the grand scheme of things? 3 times, we are told about, or see examples of absolute, overpowering true love: Charlie talking about Claire, Desmond sees Penny in the MRI and Daniel discusses Charlotte.

Is there a love-conquers-all aspect of the series? The suggestion that we might see Libby next week might play into that love-coupling aspect. And one of the great examples of this would certainly be Rose and Bernard, who have not been seen this season.

Sawyer had it with Juliet....might Jack rediscover it with Kate?

Could 'true love'... as dopey as it sounds...conquer evil (Flocke)?
