Your Welcome
Seriously though, someone make a video to answer all these questions

I've explained it previously, but I'll say it again. I did not like the ending because it disregarded and invalidated everything that happened in the last 2 seasons. All of the time travel, the bomb going off, Juliet saying "it worked", and the side flashes were all leading us to believe that they were going to change things. (Even Desmond believed everything was going to be ok. So, what, he was seeing into his afterlife while still alive???) All of that fluff was pointless. If they were just going to meetup in the afterlife, this could have been told in a story that didn't have all of the extraneous stuff in it. They could have wrapped it up at the end of season 4. Nothing happened in season 5 or 6 that was pertinent to the conclusion of the series.
To answer the parenthetical question in a word: YES! That was the point. Juliet saying "it worked" was the same exact thing. She was having a flash of sorts to her limbo self meeting Sawyer. That's not "fluff" that's revealing little tidbits about what was to come. Why couldn't they just skip all of that stuff and go straight to the afterlife like you suggest? Jack specifically addresses this in the finale while talking to Desmond. He says there are no short cuts, that it all matters and it has to be done. The only way Jack could have had the proper understanding in the afterlife was to follow through in his duty on the island, not mater how futile it seemed at that point. It was the only way, and he knew it.

Exactly. I don't know why everyone keeps missing this.
Yes!
I don't hate the ending.. it feels like a summary to questions created at the last half of season 6, though.
I really don't understand WTF happened, the finale answered no questions???? Could someone please breakdown a summary of WTF happened?
^^^ Claire was on the plane too.
Explain it again..... but this time talk slower.......![]()
Jack used Desmond to make MIB/Fake Locke mortal and then with Kate's help killed him.
Jack saved the island, Hurley took over with Ben a his #2, and Sawyer, Kate, Claire, Miles, Lapidus, and Richard escaped in the plane while Jack died in the same spot he landed when 815 originally crashed.
Sometime later everyone died, meaning everyone who was able to escape the island without dying has now eventually died for some reason or another.
Most of the central characters meet up in purgatory/flash sideways world where they gather at a church to "cross over" to the aftelife together. Some are left out of this communal afterlife crossing because they are "not ready" or need some more time. Most notably, Ben falls into this category.
THE END
What's not to get???![]()
It's not that complicted. I mean, seriously, it's just like every other good vs. evil, faith vs. science, destiny vs. free will, redemption, interpersonal relationship struggle, reality vs. spirtuality, time tavel, sacrifice for the greater good, love triangle, save the world, what the heck a polar bear, corruption, survival, greed, individual vs. community, purgatory, salvation, quality of life, parental issues, finding a place to belong, moral relativity, justice must be served, metaphysical, transcendental, supernatural mystery, love will conquer all, and the dog makes it in the end story.
Yes but we still don't know what the light was or what would of happened if the island was destroyed, does it really matter? would it have impacted the rest of the world? Also all the other questions in link posted above.
All I can say is that I followed the show since inception and it still hasn't answered anything except coming up with more questions, ending was **** and still didn't explain all the questions notably pointed out in the vid posted above!!
The light is :
"Life, death, rebirth; it's the source, the heart of the island."
What happens if it goes out :
"The Boy in Black says that it is beautiful, she agrees and tells them that a little bit of the same light that is in the cave is inside every man but that people always want more. Mother says that while the other people can't take the light, they might try and if the light goes out here it goes out everywhere."

Amazing how many people in this thread claim to have paid attention and did not.

Maybe you were both not paying attention to the poster's question. He asked what the light was.
Is "life, death, rebirth" really an answer? Because if it is, it leads to about a million other questions - something this show always does. It never explains anything outright, it just throws more cryptic puzzles at you so you'll stop thinking of your original question.
What does life, death, rebirth mean?
What's the difference between life and rebirth?
How can it be life and death both?
Did life and death not exist before the island?
How did the light get there?
If life and death and rebirth and truly what the light is and it goes out, so what?
Did the person that said it was life, death and rebirth (the "mother") really know herself? We already know she lied about other things, and was a murderer. Why trust her?
If she's right, how did she find out? Who told her the secrets that she passed on to Jacob?
Why can't you people defending the writing staff see that this show has never been good about answering questions, even when they try?
(And remember, these are all questions brought up from 3 episodes ago - we have years of these types of dead ends the viewers have been given...)

There was no evidence that the bomb actually went off in the past, did it? Juliet was banging it and everything flashed. But everyone returned to the present time. Yet the picture of them in the past (the Dharma welcome crew photo) remained/exists in the present. Did anything else change or remain from the "altered past?"
Also, now that I really think about it, one nice thing about the ending is that they did leave a lot of questions unanswered. Even though the show is officially over, this leaves enough story and mystery left for future movies and spin-offs. What happens with Ben and Hugo on the island? What happens to the people who left the island, on the plane? If nothing is ever more made relating to Lost, the show is complete with a great ending. However, if TPTB decides to make more Lost (movies or spin-offs) there is still plenty of room to do so. For this reason, alone, the ending was awesome!
