Phew! So I started watching Season 3 last Thursday and finally finished late Sunday... yay iTunes (even though the first 17 episodes were 4:3).

Sooooo... question...

When Jack and crew leave the main camp in the last episode, they start walking with the ocean on their right side. Later on when they are walking the ocean is on their left side. Did they get lost and turn around? Or is that possible somehow?

Alex had to have been conceived off the island otherwise he couldn't have been born as per Juliet saying that nobody who had conceived on the island had come to term. Also Alex's mom said she started recording the repeating radio message 3 days before Alex was born... I guess I kinda thought that was one of the first things she did when she got to the island but that's pure conjecture.

I did find it kind of funny that two people from the TV show Las Vegas showed up on Lost at about the same time... Naomi (helicopter crash lady) and the doctor or chief of medicine or whatever in Jack's flash forward...

Wow... I didn't realize that Nadia was the woman Charlie had helped in the alley... guess I need to read the Lostpedia this summer... :p

It's an island... there's water in front of, in back of, to the left of and to the right of them. most likely they started on fairly known paths and crossed the island so that the ocean is now closer on their left than their right.

I understand they are surrounded by water... but the island if you start at one point on the outer edge of any island and walk all the way around it in the same direction, the ocean should stay on the same side of you the whole time. Shouldn't it? If you start out with the island being a perfect circle and then stretch any part of the arc out nothing really changes with regard to what is outside and what is in.

I guess they could have taken a path as shown by my mad paint skills. The circle being their camp and the line going from it their path...

Unless you start out on the south side of the island heading east (you said the water was on their right, correct?) and then cross over the middle of the island to the north side still heading east, the water would be on your left at that point.

But I actually think it was more of an innacuracy in filming....

Edit: The panda beat me to it :p

If the ocean stays on your same side at all times at roughly the same distance you are only circumnavigating the island, not headed to the interior.

Your paint skills astound me, but you don't need a peninsula to flip sides of the ocean.

Or something like this would work as well

Yes. As we all know, Lost is a true story. They just made a few errors in filming it as a documentary.

Are you sure it was a documentary? I was under the impression that due to everything being manipulated that it was filmed covertly as it actually happened and then edited together in this fashion for dramatic effect. And therefore 100% reality...

Thank God Jack Bauer has managed to keep the terrorists from blowing up L.A. or we might not see how this show ends.

Yeah. I just went with a peninsula due to the time frame. I guess I was just under the impression that they were following the beach then going inland, not following the beach, going inland, following the beach, and going inland again.

Damon Lindelof says Ben is not Alex's biological father. Do we know who her father is?
It's possible that Rousseau said something about this back in Season 1 (or was it Season 2?) when she captured Sayid and they had that nice long chat in her bunker. I guess I've always assumed that Alex's father was one of the members of Rousseau's team, and that his identity isn't all that important to the story.

Just out of curiosity - how many Losties have the Others killed and harmed and how many Others have the Losties killed harmed?

I can think of several that the Others have harmed (even to the point of being situations where the observer may think that death is approaching - like Charlie's hanging), but no deaths. On the other hand, I can think of plenty of Others that the Losties have killed...

Goodwin killed Nathan (one of the Tailies) early on, in an attempt to make it appear that he had abandoned the other Tailies. That's the only one I can think of, right offhand.

You might be able to argue that they were fairly responsible for Ana Lucia's, Libby's and Locke's dad's death, even if they didn't pull the trigger.

The Losties will win plenty of "pain and suffering" damages from any remaining Others when the court case reaches the penalty phase. A good lawyer might even blame them, indirectly, for Shannon's death.

Sayid was in the coffin.

It makes sense. He was an Iraqi. America was at war with Iraq when they were on the island. To assimilate back into American society he may choose or have the choice made for him to change his name. Also he he is not very tall. He would live in a minority neighbourhood since that is were the government would most likely house him to avoid suspicion. If they housed him in a middle class or affluent neighbourhood people would ask questions and trouble would ensue. Jack was upset because Sayid did so much to help everybody get off the island. Kate was indifferent she said "why would I go to the funeral" indicating either she was not friendly with the person or they are forbidden for speaking and seeing each other. Kate was never to me at least a friend of Sayid. She often seamed threatened by him.

The Q in the number plate is so the police and government can track them. :p

didn't even think of sayid at all. i think kate would go to his funeral. she's hard on the outside but she's not heartless.

Well, it looks like Lostpedia is ready to save the day once again. 46 murders and assaults for the Losties, 10 for the Others.

I don't feel so bad for kind of rooting against the folks of Flight 815...

Let's not forget that they wiped out the Dharma Initiative people, who admittedly were on their island without permission but does that really necessitate killing all of them? Why not at least try to ask them to leave, and be more forceful when necessary but not wipe out the whole clan.

darn you for out up the lostpedia.com! i was on there for 2 hours last night. i need to get out more.:(
Why? If you stay home, you are much less likely to be in a plane crash.

Unless a crashing Oceanic Air flight falls on you.

Come to think of it, most accidents happen at or near home, which proves that you are in terrible danger right where you are. Quick! Head for the mall!

Methinks most accidents happen at or near home because with the advances in technology each year, more and more of us have less and less reason to actually leave the house (or even change out of our pajamas.... no? Maybe that's just me then). :p

Yeah, I thought about that. But the DI folks getting killed really doesn't have anything to do with the Others' relationship vis-a-vis the Losties. The violence in the Lostie/Other relationship condemns the Losties (even with some of the violence on both sides being internal)...

I do wonder if the DI folks may have been proclaiming peace but using violence in their relationship with the Hostiles. It could explain why the Hostiles brought down the hammer the way they did.

Sorry to but in but I was wondering the numbers werent mentioned in season 3 at all really were they?

Does anyone regularly view the Darkufo Site?
