Just to add to the speculation. In the screen shot with Sayid and the gun in someone's hand it's the left hand. When they cut to Ana later she has the gun in her right hand.

Lost is nitpicked to death so everyone making the show knows that there are no exceptions for poor editing.

Could be.. could be..

But that also might be why Johnny Junior-College is now fetching a half-fat no-whip mocha latta fuzz whatever for "Mr. Garcia", instead of being an assistant director. :)

new episode tonight, even though I'm not really looking toward to seeing it. I want the story to keep going and not really go back to the "tail enders" story. But who knows, might be a good hour or so.

I missed the new episode last week, could anyone post a quick summary of what happens so that I am ready for this week's episode?

I'm looking forward to finding out what happened - how they got whittled down to where they are now, maybe getting some more insight into the Others.

I don't think we'll find out much more about the fate of Shannon and Sawyer though.

I'm behind on Lost episodes (I was on vacation but managed to get home without crashing onto a remote island) and I'm behind on this thread too, but I'll ask a question anyway while I think of it.

Has anyone pointed out that the second and third of Hurley's unlucky numbers are 8 and 15, and the plane that crashed was flight 815?

If I have time, I'll watch the "Abandoned" episode I missed before tonite's episode starts.

It wasn't a spoiler, it was a question. Alas, I won't say anything else until 1AM or whenever the show ends on the west coast. For an extended episode there seem to be a lot of commercials thus far.

Edit:: How the heck was that considered 'extended'?

You know how there are commercials every 10 minutes on lost, usually? Well they were like every 20 minutes on this episode. That, and it ran 10 minutes long.

Because of this episode, I once again remember why I fell in love with the show. It was awesome...

There seemed to be more commercials to me and it ended at 10, but I watched it on CTV, not ABC.

I had it running until 10:05 PM.

And (spoiler-free) it DID clear up some confusion about the events of last week's episode... sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, folks.

My stepdad and I both noticed the absence of commercials. Maybe it was just us, though.

Are you sure that they played the show all the way through? It ended with Shannon gettin' shot, exactly where last weeks left off, right?

Yes, I'm sure.. because after it was over on CTV the broadcast of ABC picked up and it was just what I had already seen. CTV just played less commercials.

Well, shoot. Anna really did kill shannon. And that mystery mustached dude from the first contact with the tailies on the beach actually was a messup. Looks like the editors of Lost aren't as clever as we thought.

I don't know how they could call that an "extended episode" when it was only 4 minutes longer and the extra was just a rehash of what happened last week.

Still a great episode, tons of commercials though (Thank God for Tivo).

There was something that I found interesting. The "other" guy said that whazzizface in the pit was bad person which is why he wasn't on the list.

The black guy seems to have been a priest/minister of some sort before he hit the Island and was on the list of people to take, (at least until they tried to take him and got the proverbial equivalent of pulling back the bloody stump.)

Could it be that the people in the nose section weren't hit as hard by others because they tended to be not as nice of people. They all came to the island with their sins.

Was that the same teddy bear as in the episode from a few weeks ago?
Now that the spoiler embargo has been lifted: Yes, I think it's safe to assume that that's the same teddy bear that we saw one of the "others" toting in a recent episode.

It could also be that the tail-enders landed closer to the Others' base camp.

With the passenger kidnappings (we don't know that they're dead, and "Goodwin" alludes to the children being fine), especially of the good ones, could the Others be trying to form a utopian society?

And a supposedly 20-year old Army knife... how would Ana Lucia know that unless she had some sort of military training? She also seemed to handle herself pretty well against Goodwin.

What makes you think that? Was there something in last night's episode that suggests this? (I can't remember).

The most interesting thing to come out of last night's episode is that we now have at least a hint (albeit a small one) of the "others" motivation. That is to say, it doesn't appear that they're just mindless savages who like to kidnap and/or kill people for sport.
