Lots of products for September.

I am due for a laptop upgrade and wanted to go with the Macbook Pro. Also have the iPad 3 and have been awaiting the 5.

The iPhone 5S upgrade isn't usually that painful because it sells roughly for what the new one costs.

September will be quite expensive.

Kuo isn't perfect, but he has been pretty accurate overall lately. He predicted the Retina Pro experiencing delays, but he initially said July.

Why?

Ming-Chi Kuo is an idiot then. Even I could tell you that there will be no new iPhone or iPad until at least Sept. 20 because that's 2 weeks after the back to school promotion ends. That's not early September as Kuo predicts. Analysts.

For Speculation- you do not need to be an anal yst

27th August should be the Apple event and the Labor day weekend should be the launch of few products!

Retina iPad Mini in 2013: Yes. No. Yes. No... ah well, you get the picture

More people will be able to buy them for off-contract use and, consequently, more smaller carriers (including international) will be able to offer the iPhone without suffering initial revenue hit from subsidies.

so what's new on iPad 5?

"The fifth generation iPad, which is also expected in September, has been rumored to feature a slimmer, iPad mini-style redesign that will offer a thinner form factor and smaller bezels. According to Kuo, it will be the only iPad released in 2013, despite earlier reports that have suggested Apple might release a slightly upgraded non-Retina version of the iPad mini"

September 10th. I have been saying it all along. That is the Tuesday after the back to school special expires.

... you mean like they already offer the iPhone 4 for $0 down?

yup.... but I don't think they can't keep it around for another year, they have to find a replacement. Plus, do they want to keep the old 3.5" size or have a 4" (with newer innards) for a mid-market offering? My guess is that a new 4" plastic more modern components, would be more appealing than 3.5" 4/4S.

.

I wonder if this means iOS 7 won't be out until early September also. Seems like they would make that a part of the same announcement as the new hardware.

So analyst continue to predict the iPad Mini with retina display will be coming this year or next year ... thanks.

This isn't a low cost iPhone so much as it is a 4S replacement. My guess is that Apple does not want to sell the 3.5'' screened iphones anymore.

If Apple kept their current model/pricing strategy, the 4S would replace the 4 as the lowest-end iPhone when the 5S comes out. That would make it $450 unsubsidized. This rumored "low-cost" iPhone would be $450-550.

I understand that a 4" screen is probably more desirable to most than a 3.5" one, but the cost difference of using plastic rather than metal is probably greater than the cost difference between a 3.5" and 4" display. So assuming the "cheap" iPhone is basically a 4" iPhone 4S in a plastic case, consumers would end up getting somewhat ripped off.

So if it's indeed going to cost $450+, I don't think it's going to be an iPhone 4S equivalent. If they bump the CPU/RAM however, it would basically become a plastic iPhone 5. I'm not sure that makes sense, but discontinuing the iPhone 5 as well would make even less sense considering it would share parts with the iPhone 5S, bringing the overall cost of components down for both.

My guess is that either Kuo is wrong and that the low-cost iPhone will be more around $349-399, either it will have features the 4S doesn't without being as powerful as the 5/5S.

Will iOS 7 be ready by September?

Ready to trade in my iPad mini for the iPad 5 and will be more than happy to add to the 128GB statistic as well.

No retina iPad Mini this year? Ridiculous.

How so? What has set your standards so high?

Not a single competitor has pulled a Retina-class display in a small tablet yet, and the iPad mini, despite its current display, is already regarded by most as the best in its class. Oh, and it's also the best-selling tablet worldwide. So why would Apple want to bring their margin down so fast if they don't need to? It already has a relatively low profit margin, by Apple's standards. I'm not sure why you talk as if Apple owed you anything. They're here to maximize profits, just like any corporation, accept it.

it still has to be $200 or less if it's going to target a the lower end of the market.

As others have pointed out, maybe this is not meant to be the "low cost" phone. Maybe it's actually a 4S replacement. That way all models at all price points have the same screen size for developers. Subsidized pricing from carriers would be:
$200 iPhone 5S
$100 iPhone 5
$0 instead of 4S---> new plastic iPhone

I think someone needs to make a site ranking the accuracy of these analyst's predictions so we know really quick who might have clue, and who is completely full of ****.

Will iOS 7 be ready by September?

Well, supposedly "fall", which is a big range, and September is certainly in there. However most developers had been speculating late August to early September. Again, this wouldn't technically be late according to what was said at WWDC. But, you'd think Apple would want to ramp up production (and hype) well before the holiday shopping season.

I'm just impatient because I'm developing 2 apps which will be iOS 7-only, and I can't release them until Apple releases iOS 7 :)

I thought the general consensus on this site was that out of all of them, if you had to pick one: KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is the best one. That doesn't mean he's right every single time, but that he's been the most reliable out of all the different usual sources.
