I'm still on an Apple Watch Zero. It still makes it through the day, but can only basically show me texts and calendars. I'm all for this large watch. I miss wearing a large watch and if I can get 5 year out of that it's great.

I really hope Apple doesn't forget that smaller humans who still want their best watch exist... the 44mm is already ungainly, if they start splitting watch features up by watch size that'd be extremely disappointing

It should fit if you zoom in 😎

What is Apple smoking with a $999 price tag?
Yes is this even titanium, and is that for cellular??? Bad enough before that you could only get the nicer finishes cellular which added more plus more because you needed a plan

I work my butt off and have an advanced degree and a good income. I prefer better technology and more advanced products that I can afford. Just because you can only afford cheap crap, please don't call me an idiot. Are you able to go back to school and get a better job with a higher income so you can afford nice things? LMAO
Exactly my iPhone is my primary device I can use for nearly everything. Not paying almost the same price again for a watch.

It may come as a shock, but some people make a lot of money where dropping $900 for a watch or phone isn’t a big deal for them.

I’ve had dinners that cost more than some people’s mortgages. It’s all relative, my friend. Apple is a premium brand that caters to more affluent customers.
Go on and flex big fella. Hope that recession doesn’t hit you too hard.

The Apple Watch Series 8 model with a larger 1.99-inch display is expected to sell in comparatively low volume, which could indicate a high retail price, according to insightful display analyst Ross Young.

Young made the remarks on the latest episode of The MacRumors Show, explaining that the larger Apple Watch Series 8 model that is expected to join the lineup this year will be manufactured in relatively low volume, reflecting its forecasted sales.

Apple is purportedly expecting to ship just one million units of the larger Apple Watch in the third quarter of this year, compared to four million 45mm Apple Watch Series 8 models. This suggests that the new, larger Apple Watch may have a high price point that constrains sales volume.

This supports Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman's recent speculation that the new Apple Watch will be stylized as a high-end model with a price tag in the region of $900 to $999. In addition to a slightly larger display, the device is expected to offer better durability and longer battery life.

I am loving the complacency. Oh I really do. It will be all sweeter and more pleasant when it all crashes and burns and then they start asking themselves "what happened and how did we get here"?

While I think I'd dig a smartwatch, some issues that got me to hold off on them include (but not limited to)
1-- no Apple Watch since getting an iPhone is practically mandatory (I like Android. So sue me)
2-- It'd be another thing I'd need to keep charged (although the ones that have solid 2 to 4 day battery could convince me)
3-- I could afford to pay $100 to $400 for one (I'd probably get one on the Android side, so wouldn't have to shell out that much), but unless I do more research on some of the "smart features" that intrigue me, may as well just stick with my dumb watch
4-- I used to work a job where they don't allow electronics inside certain sensitive areas. A smartwatch would have to be left outside. My dumbwatch would be just fine.

Dumb watch to look down and immediately tell the time has been very useful, and a nice tradeoff between not having a smartwatch, nor not having anyways

While I can't agree with the user you're replying to (yeah, some people do work hard, or otherwise have wealthy friends and/or family :\ ), I've known plenty of people who still wouldn't spring for such things even though they easily have the means to pay for it.

(That said, it'd be nice if all the Apple fanatics would stop going after Android and Windows users who spend on a lot of money on those things "b/c it doesn't have an Apple logo on it")

My guess is the same stuff Garmin is smoking since three of their Adventure Watch lines run $699-899 (and they sell shedloads of them at those prices).

If you really want shocking, check out the top-end Casio G-Shock range, which has multiple models in the four-figures and running all the way to $4000.

This is about the rumored 3rd size that's even larger and more rugged than the ones we have today, for a total of three sizes in the lineup. I suspect the two "normal" sized ones (41mm & 45mm) will still stay at the same price points as they are today.

There's still the possibility that the normal sized ones also get a redesign (squared edges?)

And the rugged AW is identical except for an even larger 49mm size and more durable *insert metal* finish.
And the SE continues unchanged.

Now that's something AW7 owners might be perturbed if that happens, given we've not seen a new design for the past 3 or 4 releases.

The affluent people are buying Rolex, Patek, AP.

Apple is doing a useless job of appealing to affluent watch buyers.

People moaning about price but there are brands out there (without technology) selling their logo for $50,000+
They’re a bit more established and aren’t smart watches… their market is niche but stable.

The Apple Watch wants to be a fitness watch if these rumours are right, that is not the same market as these other watches.
