I have a 3G iPad 16gb and a wifi 64gb. Idk witch I want to sell. I hope to get a wash on how much I sell it for compared to the price of the new one. I'll be happy if I can do that. I don't think it will happen but so be it

Unlocked 3GS 32GB was worth $800 in some countries after iPhone 4 came out.

iPad 16GB is another story, especially with refurb at $429. $300 is too low.

He didn't say a 32gb 3GS so I assumed the bare minimum (16gb) and sure I can sell anything for more in another country. They pay a premium for our tech, but I'm not selling something to China or Germany from Craigslist in America. If you want to do that then sell it on ebay and take the chance.

All I'm saying is you need to be reasonable. If you can get $350 for it then I'd do it at this point. Whether people know about refurbs or not the simplest minded is going to want one with a camera. Besides Craigslist is regionally dependent. Where I live now sellers charge ridiculous prices for apple stuff. Where I used to live it was near Full Sail and UCF so there was plenty of mac stuff and stuff sold for very low prices.

dude you are being cocky with your soon-to-be-outdated item...

There is less than one week until the announcement and you are complaining that $350 is lowball?

Don't sell it then. Hang on to it tight and have it buried with you when you die because from this point on, you will not be able to fetch more than $350 for it

Things don't have an inherent value; they are only worth what someone offers to pay for them. An offer can only be lowball if you receive a higher offer; if you don't receive a higher offer then it isn't lowball.

I like this post. If you aren't happy with the offers, don't sell it. But you can't go into the sellers side of a transaction and get mad that people aren't willing to give you what you want...which means what you want is unrealistic. Every time I sell stuff like this I put it on eBay with a $1 starting bid and no reserve...because eBay is such an efficient marketplace I have always gotten what I feel to be a fair deal. It seems to be the absolute best way to go.

now that the 1 yr Apple Waranty is completely transferable that's total BS. Apple products retain 80% of original value if kept in good to excellent condition. I sold 2 unlocked 16gb 3GS's after the iPhone 4 release and I got almost $400 for each of them.

Isn't retaining 80% value the same as losing 20% value. Yep

Agreed.

When you get what you consider lowball offers, there are two possibilities. First, markets like craigslist will always have the bargain hunters who aren't in a hurry. They're looking for the "motivated" sellers who need to sell ASAP for one reason or another and are happy to get a quick sale, even if its for reduced value. They way to find those is send offers to sellers. All they need to do is find that one needle in the haystack, and they're patient enough to wait for it. Some intend to resell at a higher price (form of arbitrage), others just enjoy the chase.

The second possibility is you've simply priced yours too high for the market. It's important to do good research on what things are actually selling for and balance that against how long you want to wait for that "motivated buyer" who wants to buy a used unit right then and is willing to pay a bit more.

Sell the 3G 16GB iPad, unless you must have 3G service at all times. If you have an iPhne or a phone with Tethering, then you should be OK.

Wait until the new iPad is unveiled next Wednesday. It won't be much of an upgrade from the current one, and the price of used iPad 1's will rise again. You'll be able to get $400 used for it as long as Apple doesn't lower the price of the new iPad's. Ignore the lowballers, there are ALWAYS lowballers.

hahahaha your really serious arent you? ok so a refurb NOW is 429 and you believe AFTER the ipad 2 comes out he can get 400 (or more) for his USED Ipad.... you have to be the top of the food chain bro

Yep. If there is no price drop for the base model iPad, and it's not a huge leap forward, he can.

If you use CL re post your Ad every other day. 400.00 is easy for a base model just don't wait till it hits the news.

400.00 is easy for a base model

Exactly. I think people on here are confusing what THEY would pay with what the average person would pay. The average person would prefer to pay $400 for a used iPad than $430+ tax for a used one from Apple. Yes I know Applecare blah blah blah but the fact is that the average person doesn't care.

I've sold so many things on craigslist at what people on here would call ridiculous prices, and they were happy and I was happy. Just be patient. A good buyer will come.

My thought is that it's more likely the average person isn't aware of the refurbished ipads on apple.com than that they don't care about Applecare. In their minds the choice is $500+tax for new w/ full warranty vs $400 for used with some warranty left.

Still, the key point here is the reminder that many buyers simply don't know their options and that helps the savvy sellers get more for their device.

I sold my 16gb wifi a month ago for $440 on CL. It only took a day but I had to delete a LOT of lowballers. If I were you I would hope to get $400 but time is against you since refurbs will probably go for $400 later this week/month depending on the iPad 2 release. I would sell it before Wednesday if I were you.

I should have sold mine a month ago. I'm having the hardest time selling my 64GB 3G model. Someone offered me $600 for it and I said no and they kept flagging my post. I emailed them and asked them to stop and he denied that it was him. Coincidently, the flagging stopped after that email....
Weird huh?

Anyways, I'll keep trying. If nothing happens, I'll just keep it and wait for the next gen!

sold 2 16 wifi today got 400 each.I had lowballers i just delete them.

both sold in 2 days from placing ad on CL

Thank goodness for the clueless.....Youu got $20 less per iPad than a refurb from Apple with full warranty!:D

Sold my 16gig wifi on Craig's-List yesterday for $400.00 took 3 days, had a lot of low ball offers and lots of trade offers for other junk, xbox, Wii, couple hack-in-tosh net-books and ipod touch. lots of offers for 375.00 but just waited till I got what I wanted.:)

I rest my case.

Lowballers? Really? No way would I pay 400+ bucks for a 16 GB Wifi Ipad. Its a year old used piece of electronics which is about to be obsolete on Wednesday. Hell, the refurbs are going for $429. Only a fool would pay full price for something like that. But reading this thread shows there are plenty of fools (or scammers) willing to do just that. Good luck, its a jungle out there. I would never use Craigslist for something like this. I have a feeling the real offers are the 300-350, and the scammers are the ones telling you $400-500.

Then the average person is a moron. Refurb's are almost better than brand new. They have been checked over thoroughly by Apple, and come with a warranty. Only a moron would pay $30 bucks less for a 1 year old Ipad over a brand new one.

You are dreaming. I don't know who would be dumb enough to do that.

How the hell is it a scam? I wanted 400.00 and got it! I did not point a gun to the persons head and tell them to give me 400.
