Iswear $600

I just got $600 for a 16gb wifi+3g i guess this person does not know about the big announcement, I did throw in a BNIB applecase and wireless keyboard

I just uncovered my 3G iphone I never bothered to sell from a pile on a desk of junk.

I wish I had sold it I guess.. but I hate giving things up. I have all three iPhones I have bought still.

Lame I know.

I put an 8 GB and a 16 GB iPhone 3G on Craigslist a month and a half ago for $225 and $325 respectively, planning to accept $200 and $300 respectively. The day I put them on sale, someone offered me $200 for the 8 GB, and I sold it that evening. I got absolutely no bites on the 16 GB, so I dropped the asking price to $275 two weeks ago. Still no bites. Last night, someone offered me $200, and I decided to take it, figuring it will be even tougher to sell the closer we get to the iPhone 5.

This is exactly how craigslist should work. An item is only worth what a buyer is willing to pay. You can sell fast to a larger pool of buyers, or wait patiently for a buyer willing to pay more.

Just be careful to everyone bragging about duping the uninformed. Especially if they're meeting you at your house.

I probably waited a little to long to get 400 or more for my ipad, but I put my wifi+3g on ebay today to upgrade to a ipad 2.

I started the auction around 100 and it's up to 305 now. Hoping to least get 350 for it, since I'm offering the 2 cases I have for it as well.

I just bought an iPad for $350. I decided I didn't need a faster iPad with cameras when I already have an iPhone 4.

Good luck to every one trying to sell

Yeah. Selling into a buyers market is tough.

Better to either have sold well in advance or wait til the flood of used iPads on the market subsides. Though if one can do without the iPad for two months it begs the question why its worth having (rhetorical question).

I just put up a 32 GB 3G model with Portenzo and Apple cases... It's up for bid and I put $495 buy it now price. Hope I get some bites! I think that's a fair price.

I just checked my local craigslist... sellers selling for $400-700, buyers offering $200.

Really, what Apple just did here was make the iPad a commodity. That's a wonderful idea, except now it devalues the Apple brand. The iPad isn't going to be much different from a commodity Windows tablet or Android tablet now.

Bad news all around.

I think the people wanting to buy for 250 are crazy. Granted refurbs are 350, but add in tax. I think low 300's would be fair if in good shape.

There are still people are still trying to sell for 400+.

FYI just bought a 16 GB wifi model with case for 300. It was less than 3 months old, in perfect shape. Included original boxes for everything and accessories still in plastic. I felt it was a great price. For me, 350 plus 30 for the case and tax would be over 400.

hows $300+ for a used one (probably out of warranty or a good bit less than 12 months left) better than a $350 refurb with a full 1 year warranty backed by apple?

sellers should have sold earlier. most people knew a new release would be around this time... and that the old model would be marked down (like they do on the iphone)

did you get pissed when apple lowered the original iphone price because it allowed less fortunate people to buy them?

Well first of all no ipads are out of warranty as they were released 11 months ago. Second I have never asked about a warranty when buying something this cheap, nor has anyone I have sold to on CL. $2000 laptop yes, but not around $300. Plus uninformed buyers regarding refurbs will keep it high. Also most sellers are including a couple cases and there will be a variety of length of warranties left. Finally I think that since they are 350, plus tax for most, at apple with a MSRP of 400 for the regular version, a savings of over 20% plus a case is enough to not let it drop that low.

Just my thoughts and I could be wrong.

Apple is selling refurbs with full 1 year warranty for $349. If you can sell your used one for anything near $300, take it. It's not worth much more than that.

After the announcement, I decided to hang on to my original 64GB WiFi, I do play some games on it and what I have on it plays very well. Additionally, I am not a fan of the new cover at all.

I need to head to Best Buy with a quickness and buy another first gen iPad case (and other goodies at fire sale prices) for when mine eventually needs replacing whilst waiting for the iPad 3 with a Retina Display.

Some Apple collector/fanatic will buy it down the road. Especially when I factor in my old Wallstreet G3 that I sold on eBay for $475 with all it's original components and a good battery.

Just sold one of my iPads (16gb wifi) for $350 on CL. I figured that's as good as it's going to get at this point. Only one person responded and he bought it just 20mins ago. You have to love CL. So much business I've done with that site and not payed them a dime...

I just got an offer for $400 for my ipad 32gb wifi on CL. Any chance that waiting another day or two will bring any higher offers? Thoughts?

Is there any chance? Sure, of course, there's always a chance that you might get a bigger sucker on the line. But of course there's also a chance that by turning down lower offers right now to try waiting for that bigger sucker may mean that ultimately you lose the lower offers as well. It's the old "one bird in the hand, two birds in the bush" scenario.

I'm in Canada, trying to sell my 32gb Wi-Fi model with 11 months left on the warranty. It's in mint condition and includes an Apple case.

Is $400 a reasonable price to expect? I was hoping for something more along the lines of $450-500 but I'm probably too late.

what i see more of on craigslist are people with delusional seller's syndrome. Too many sellers think the depreciation value on their stuff is about a dollar a year. I've seen many people asking for more money than what they paid for mbps. Just because you throw a larger hd and some ram in a 2008 mbp, that doesn't make it worth the same as a 2011 model.
Electronics are like cars. They depreciate considerably every year because new ones come out every year.

As was said earlier, "things don't have an inherent value; they are only worth what someone offers to pay for them."

i personally believe in the golden rule: He who has the gold, makes the rules.
People (buyers) are on craigslist to find a deal, otherwise they could just buy a refurb. If you are not a retailer, there is no reason for anyone buying something to trust you and take you at your word about condition, use, etc. A deal is not a few bucks off msrp minus tax. If you get lucky and get that for it, congrats. Maybe its supply and demand in your area? Ipads are luxury items and they are not rare. $350 is not lowballing. $50 is lowballing. If you think its worth so much, hold onto it until you find a buyer but the longer you keep it the less its worth. It seems to me like every seller is looking for a sucker; an uninformed buyer willing to pay almost what you paid for it when you bought it. I know from being an experienced buyer that if you offer a fair price for something, sooner or later someone will take it. Its just a matter of who has the most patience.
