Final Predictions

Name: iPad HD
Screen: Retina
ARM: A5X (Dual Core, faster speed)
--RAM: I think it will be upped by 256 (total 768MB)
Cameras: Same as iPhone 4S
Radio: LTE
Features: Siri, iOS 5.1

I also think they will continue to make iPad 2 at a $100 discount. 8" iPad, I don't know, but if they did, it should be priced at $300.

They said in the invitation, "We have something you really have to see. And touch." I might be reading too much into this, but I don't think LTE is the main selling-point for the upcoming announcement tomorrow.

It's great if they figured out how to include LTE without compromising battery life though.

I think there will be two models:

1. iPad 2S
8gb / 16gb
Non-Retina
Siri
A5X Processor
LTE
iOS5

2. iPad 3 HD
32/64/128gb
Retina Display
Siri
A6 Processor
LTE
OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion

"At speeds roughly 10 times faster than current 3G technology, that may go a long way toward banishing the sometimes shaky video quality of older devices."

BS Its not the device itself. It are those Assh.... providers which cripple these devices.

tell me this, what good is speed when you're limited to 2/3gb a month?

Great! I can enjoy a whole whoopin 2 high def movies a month at blazing speeds!

True Dat !

I don't understand all the hype either.

Well here in Switzerland you may watch TV over 3G for some amount per month and the data used are not taken in account for your data plan...

So I let you imagine the current ATT data plan and 5$ per high rez movie over wifi/3G/4G or whatever ;)

No pre-order for iPad 2.

Don't think Apple will do pre-orders for the new iPad either. They want the lines + limited supply.-Kevin

I agree. Where I live on W67th in NYC Apple are closing down the street from Wednesday to Sunday.

Umm don't know where u get YOIR facts, there WAS a preorder for the iPad 2
I remember cuz I ordered mine, it came on at 3am central time a couple days after the announcement

And yes I got it by FedEx but there was that stupid earthquake or whatever going on in Japan so it came a bit late

The inclusion of Siri, assuming this is the case, practically mandates that the 3rd-gen iPad require a cell radio of some sort. And it only makes sense for said radio to be LTE-capable if users are too take advantage of that sexy screen while on the road. We'll know for sure in 24.5 hours. ;)

I think the key is the device will be half the "weight" of iPad 2. If its slightly thicker then it will have less weight.

They want people to carry this thing where ever they go.

No, there was no preorder for iPad 2. Online sales began same day as the launch date.

The only exceptions were places like BestBuy allowing you to "preorder" at their store, but they were not very reliable. They weren't being done officially, and were only taking guesses at stock available.

And thats when i woke up by my iphone alarm.
It's too bad Apple did not include a clock/alarm with the iPad. The one on the iPhone actually works. Most of the clock/alarm apps for iPad fail miserably as alarms. They have to be the front most app running for them to work. Weak Sauce Apple. Just put the iPhone clock/alarm on the iPad.

4G would explain why they don't want a '3' in the name.

The second iPhone was named iPhone 3G. And then came the iPhone 3GS.
Perhaps this could be the iPad 4G, and next year we would get the iPad 4GS.
Really, we have no idea of the complete back story of what factors go into their product naming.

We invented Apple, Inc. So without the "Greedy Americans" you would have nothing but stones to throw around ... we get first dibs on anything Apple develops so get used to it jerk off.

So you're saying that...thanks to Apple we now have iDevices to throw around?

I don't know why there's so much thought that it wouldn't have LTE. If you aren't near an LTE access point, it just drops over to 3G. The new chips that have been out now for the past 6 months are smaller, less power hungry, and... much cheaper. Not much more than just doing 3G. The iPad also has a lot more room to work with inside. The iPad also has been ahead of the iPhone on specs and pretty much tells us what the coming iPhone has going on.

Now, if for some reason there wasn't LTE, it would be an epic fail. Apple poked around too long on 3G. Why wouldn't you have a feature that makes a device even more attractive to buy? And for the people who don't care, they'll buy wi-fi only models like they have been doing.

I've held out

Passed on iPad 1 and 2. Now I will jump in and get the 3. Just hope I can get it around the time it comes out. My competition is mostly people that have 1 and/or 2. Ughhh.

to bad the ipad 3 cant be jailbroken right away. I had a jailbroken ipad 2 and had the iphone 4 alarm app on it. Running 100% fine thanks to its framework.

Apologies for the novice (or possibly repetitive) comment, but I'm having trouble reconciling the consumer's desire/demand for LTE with the expense of data consumption. On one end, AT&T is throttling people down. On the other, people want the increase of speed to - I presume - consume more data. If anyone is interested in putting those pieces together for me I'd be appreciative. Just don't understand where this is going.

It's true to say that faster speed can lead to more data consumption, but not necessarily for everyone.
LTE will allow a "wifi at home" experience. Pages will load faster, and more seamlessly, than on spotty 3G, making it a more pleasant experience. In this example, the data consumed will remain the same. I read what I'm going to read and suffer through the load times on 3G. With LTE, it'll be a nicer experience.
