Isn't is a possibility that Apple adds Siri support to the iPad 2? They can just send out a massive software update.

Yes/No?

Yes/No?

I would say this is within the realm of possibility. Apple stated that the reason the iPhone 4 was not getting Siri was because of how intense Siri was or whatever, and the 4 simply could not handle it.

The iPhone 4S runs on an A5 processor with 512MB of RAM. The iPad 2 runs on an A5 processor with 512MB of RAM. Theoretically it would be able to run...but I could understand if Apple chooses not to. The iPhone is built to include data...so (typically) a user would have a data plan and thus utilize Siri from any location. The iPad has a wifi only edition, so it's not as versatile as the iPhone.

It's possible, but I could understand if Apple chooses not to.

Here's my plan:

1)Buy a WiFi iPad HD (my first iPad).
2)Use the phone I have with Sprint under my unlimited family plan ($45/a month) that let's me turn it into a hot-spot.
3)Dance.

I really hope I can get it on the day of it's release. I want to buy one for my wife since her baby shower is on the 17th!

It's too bad Apple did not include a clock/alarm with the iPad. The one on the iPhone actually works. Most of the clock/alarm apps for iPad fail miserably as alarms. They have to be the front most app running for them to work. Weak Sauce Apple. Just put the iPhone clock/alarm on the iPad.

Skellener,

Please try "Radio Alarm Clock - MP3/Radio/Nature Sound Alarm + Sleep Timer" app. for your iPad. IMO I think it's perfect and works every time! What I find that's sets this radio alarm clock from the others is the fact that you can set the alarm sound volume differently than your sleep timer volume. For sleep timer I have it set for an iTunes MP3 playlist with soothing (low sound) music and for the alarm I have it set for a rooster (loud) sound which is extremely annoying but almost guarantees that you get up and turn that sucker off…. lol. Go to the app. store and give it a try. You might have to play around with it for awhile but once understood how it works I think you'll agree with me.

Prediction eh?

So now it's time for final predictions?

Well here's mine.

1 new iPad model. History has shown that Apple avoids filling niches.

As far as name, if 4G is included, I feel the iPad 3 could be a confusing name, but they were't afraid to name the last iPhone "iPhone 4" without 4G. I'm leaning towards iPad 3, but it's a 60/40 split with iPad HD (this would really market the Retina display). iPad Pro can be thrown out a long time ago, Apple's moved away from Pro everything (Mac Pro hasn't been updated, Xserve was dropped, the Final Cut Suite was toned down, etc.).

As far as this iPad mini, though a cute prospect and possibly a game changer if it happens, they'd have to figure out what it fills. It could be an education game changer if it competes at $200-$300 range while being capable of running iBooks Textbooks. Resolution could be same as iPhone 4/4S, the DPI would drop, but not drastically. 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, Wi-Fi and/or 3G (sorry no LTE here). I highly doubt this is going to happen, but this is what I wished it were if they decided to.

Back to iPad. It'll be 4G, I'd be really surprised if not (Verizon has about 50% coverage now, shoot, make a product (red) exclusive to Verizon with LTE since AT&T had such a long time with the iPhone). It has the battery capability.

Retina is a done deal. And if it wasn't, after these rumors, Apple would be ostracized if it didn't have it. What I really hope are upgrade speakers to match this display. If Apple did their due diligence, they would've noticed this and upgraded them, but I doubt it.

The iPad will have the A6. The A5X was likely a prototype or just for testing. If it does see the light of day, it'll be in the AppleTV.

The existing iPad 2 smart covers were proven to work, but a new case/cover combo was hinted at. Would be nice.

Bluetooth 4.0 to catch up with the iPhone 4S. Siri as well. Announcement of Siri API will shortly follow (possibly later this year). Preview of iOS 6 may even happen, though WWDC is more likely to show that off.

AppleTV will get the A5X (maybe) as said before with BT 4.0 and 1080p out. No apps yet, unless they announce AppleTV specific apps that can work with iPhone/iPod/iPad as controller.

iTunes will get 1080p content and possibly new streaming technology or audio file technology for iCloud.

No redesigned 30-pin dock connector yet.

Depends on your take on fragmentation.

Most people think fragmentation is purely derived from the app store/marketplace and the multitude of variations of android devices.

You currently have two variants of iPad with an array of sizes. Thats already confusing to Apples target demographic. Why would they bump that up to 3 options?

"I'd like an iPad"

"Would you like the WiFI only, the WiFI and 3G or the WiFI and 3G and LTE"

Can you imagine how mind-fubared people are gonna be when they are confused by the current options.

If its gonna have LTE, its gonna be on all of them. Completely un-Apple like to fragment their devices depending on regional network availability.

As I mentioned already, they held off on a 3G iPhone until the yanks came out of the dark ages and actually got 3G.

I purely use the iPad at home anyway, so even though the muppets in charge in the UK can't get their act together and get this spectrum auction underway, its a moot point from my point of view.

But looking at it as a tech-fan I'd say hell yeah, load that baby up with everything, ramp up the ram, ramp up the processor, throw in everything you can.

Can't see it happening though. Not as crucial to an iPad as it would be to the iPhone.

I don't disagree with a lot of your points. I too would love them to just load the effer up with everything and have just one iPad. But how much would that cost?

If a market supports 4G then they will sell a 4G/3G model, if not enjoy your 3G. It looks like they are going to have the same number of options they have had before. It's basically the same carrier and storage size choices customers have had to make with iphone as well. They seem to be selling ok, I don't see how changing the 3G model to a 4G/3G model is that confusing.

And to me anyway, fragmentation means that you buy a product and hope like hell the people who sold it to you see fit to push you updates and continue to support it. Apple buyers need not fear fragmentation.

Now that the Qualcomm MDM9615 cellphone chipset is probably in full production, my guess is that iPad HD's sold in the USA and Japan will include this chipset (LTE has started to roll out in Japan in the major metropolitan areas like Tokyo and Osaka), but iPad HD's sold in other parts of the world will only support GSM-based HSDPA+ with a different chipset.

I cut the shared minutes "some" slack since there is the maintenance of an actual phone number and gets you a subsidized device (which an iPad is not), but even that has some gouging when you see https://ting.com/plans and infer the logical conclusions.
The subsidy is the real key here.

Every 3G device has a phone number, regardless of whether it accepts phone calls or not.
