Lucid Air Electric Vehicles Now Feature Wireless CarPlay Integration

Basic things Tesla can’t even do.

You gotta be pretty rich to beta test these expensive electric cars.

I’m looking forward to an electric car that isn’t so flashy but has good range, fast charging, and reliability for a decent price. The Toyota of electric cars. Don’t need so many bells and whistles that just break, like putting motorized things that slide in and out everywhere with 17 cameras and a million quirks and features like custom hidden company Easter eggs injection molded into every nook and cranny. Yes I watch a lot of Doug Demuro videos.

I value function and reliability above all else, but it should look somewhat nice. Electric cars could be so much more simple because of their nature. Looking forward to advances in technology with batteries that are easier to swap.

The Lucid Air from Lucid Motors was voted the 2022 MotorTrend Car of the Year because of its "level of innovation and sophistication."

And with Lucid adding CarPlay Wireless as standard, and lot of luxury car owner ditching their Tesla to Lucid, Elon Musk throwing a big tantrum in 3…….2………1……….

(Seriously, this is how far Tesla has fallen behind in innovation. Empty promise after promise)

Electric is another Diesel gate in 10 years
If you mean it will just flop, I don’t think so. I think battery technology will advance to make it better but not entirely practical for the average car owner.

I don’t think electric car adoption rate is going to be very high just because there are too many drawbacks for the average car owner. Who knows what will happen in 10 years but unless technology really takes a leap it’s not going to happen.

Starting at $87k and more than $100k OTD before tax and registration. Other trims cost $107K and $138k and $180k, again, aside from extras, tax, etc. $7.5k tax break has no impact at that level.

I am very environmentally conscious, but at that bracket of spending and the technology as deficient as it is, no way. When battery issues/technology advances and range reaches about 400 miles, I will be in. Until then ...

But BMW are just sad cars that nobody wants in 2023. Seriously, who will want a BMW these days instead of a safe car full of technology like Tesla.
Sorry you think that but clearly you haven’t had much experience with newer BMWs. Self lane change, assisted driving, and I don’t have to deal with the atrocious build quality Tesla has. Not to mention they’re great handling cars and fun to actually drive versus rely on automation all the time.

This is really awesome news for the, like... ten people or so who have one.
I've never even heard of this lucid thing. My big transportation dream is an original Somerville-built 1993 Fat Chance Titanium, with the wishbone stays and Campagnolo Record OR. I've spent unlimited money over the last decade buying multiples of all the classic handmade campy parts I need and scouring each one for the best condition bits from the best mold numbers. 2 original Bradbury Manitou forks, Helfrich-made Arctos 6/4 Ti stem, Merlin bar, & Syncros post, white OnZa Porcupines, an actual Tioga Disk Drive from John Tomac's stash, hardano'd Campy rims laced in a crows foot on the front, all NOS. All I need is that mythical pristine Fat Chance frame to piece together the absolutely perfect, ultimate mountain bike. I'll have about $25k in it by the time I'm done. Then I'll drive it to the trailhead in the back of my old Prius that cost $5k used, for which I still feel like I overpaid by about 30%, but you know cars, they just consume your time and money.

MKBHD review.

Sorry, but that looks like a paid advertisement for Lucid. The intro was just yeah. I’m not saying it’s not a nice car, but that was just an advertisement.

He’s comparing the $89,000 Tesla “base” Model S to the upgraded $139,000 Lucid Air GT. You mean for $50,000 more it’s going to be a better car? Shocking! A more reasonable comparison would be comparing the $109,000 Tesla Model S Plaid to the $107,000 Lucid Air Touring.

Or add FSD beta, rims, nice paint and a charger to the Plaid and you are at $131,000 which is closer to the GT. I paid 110k for my Touring fully loaded and get the $7,500 tax rebate so 102,500$ total. There is quite a bit of overlap between the Model S and the Lucid Air. Tesla has dropped their prices quite a bit recently. Lucid is offering $7,500 off currently as well.

you basically described model y and 3.

i wouldn't recommend anyone to get the FSD unless they got the new X which has HW4, tesla has basically maxed out the limitation on the HW3 and its more of a fulfilling legal obligation than actual realistic full self driving.

I love my Lucid Air and am happy about CarPlay however I am disappointed that Lucid did not implement dual screen support so no turn by turn directions on the main screen like we have when using Lucid's own nav. They also did not implement SOC information so no Apple Maps EV navigation. ATMOS support is TBD. Hopefully I get the update shortly!
Most cars are like that. Their own sat nav works on the digital instrument display and HUDs, carplay maps does not.
It is entertaining running both in my Santa Fe. Mind you you only do it once,
