I have an absolutely terrible rainbow effect on my taktik 5 extreme. cleaned both the phone and the gorilla glass on the case many a time now with alcohol swabs and it just will not go away. Also the glue on the gorilla glass has some terrible residue all on the back side of it that can be seen around the ear speaker mesh. TBH i was rather dissapointed, but if anyone knows what to do about this rainbow effect then let me know because this is rlly getting on my nerves.

The same thing happened on my Taktik 4S case if you put the screws in too tight. Mine went away after easing up a bit on the screws

i have them about finger tight using the tool, if i loosen them any more im afraid they will fall out from just everyday use

Screen protector underneath is suppose to do the trick

I got my white Taktik Extreme- 3 months after the desire went away. I had hopes it would replace the lackluster iPhone 5 with a new feel and new look.

First disappointment: "Balistic Bezel" doesn't mean aluminum. My white case is plastic, looks plastic, feels like recycled plastic. Blah. The airbrushed ads for this case and description lead me to believe it was aluminum. First sight, oh yeah, it's plastic.

Second disappointment: Forget living near humid-like climates. You'll have fog and a weird under-the-glass rainbow blobs that stick around for a day or two until they evaporate. Or, just use the included screw driver and undo all 6 screws, wipe away, reassemble, over and over again. (said no one ever)

Third disappointment: The Corningware Gorilla whatever is awful. Your hands can be cleaner than an ER surgeon's and as you touch the screen, you leave an oil-slick like print that blurs everything you're trying to see. Super annoying! Wipe often.

Fourth disappointment: The vibe/audio button isn't long enough. You have to squeeze the case tight and push really hard (to get your skin to sink into the hole) to manipulate the switch. Or, get a pencil and switch between ringer and silence. LAME!

Lastly: Static electricity is a problem, as hair flies in and lands in the crevasse around the edges, which is super hard to get out, because it isn't smooth like the iPhone 5 is without a case. Expect crap to land there often.

Overall rating for an overly hyped TakTik Extreme iPhone 5 case? 3 out of 10 stars. And that's being generous.

So far, the rainbows evaporate- giving you live in a dry climate. I live in the mile high city. I took my TakTik loaded iPhone 5 on a snowboard trip and immediately got the fog followed by rainbow effect on my way home. 2 days back home WITHOUT taking it all apart, the rainbows went away.

Also the Ballistic Bezels" seem to scratch and mark up real easy. When I first got the case I was using my fingernail to try an operate the vibe switch and left some pretty bad marks around it just from my fingernail.

I would hate to see what the bezels would look like if it hit the ground.

I own the Strike and have had the same issues with the vibe switch. The trick I found is that instead of trying to "poke" the vibe switch in, use your whole thumb to cover the silence switch and squeeze the front and back bezel together. The sillicone will give way and the switch will work.

I'd have to agree with the scratching and mark ups of the bezel, but i drop tested the case a few times and its the marks are barely visible.

Check out a review I did for a demonstration on how to use the vibe switch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1O4YUjzZO4

A buddy of mine also has the same issue with the camera cutout.

I'm also having an issue with the silencer switch where I can't even press switch because it sits so flush on both sides

Put your whole finger/thumb over the switch and squeeze the front and back bezel together. The sillicone will give way and it will switch into vibe.

Fog is moisture. I do wonder how good it is for the phone to have moisture locked in around it for a couple days. The hassle of taking the case apart seems to be a big drawback.

I really liked the design and was planning on getting one but now I'm leaning more toward the Armor but will wait for more hands on reviews of both cases.

A great little desktop stand for the TakTik Extreme is the Motorola Flip stand.
The extreme fits perfect on this stand with the rubber pad on the base fitting just perfect with the headphone port cover of the extreme.

The only problem is you have to reach your finger around the back of the phone when pressing the home button or the phone will push back into the stand. Just a cool little stand.

My strike case has been growing on me. I was pretty disappointed at first because I had to give up my glass screen protector, but I think I'll be hanging on to this one. I've already gotten used to the added bulk and it feels a lot better in hand than several other cases I've gone through.

I got the Takitik Saturday and have been using it since. The case adds a significant amount of weight but is worth it in my opinion. I was using the otterbox defender before this and the Taktik extreme is a huge improvement.
Can you elaborate? I have been unhappy with my Defender but still want a little more protection than the Candyshell I have on now.

Awesome pics and great idea!. Was happy to see the taktik cases finally ship. As for myself I got sick of waiting and started to not be able top justify the price so I ended up going the other way. Out of curiosity if yall are interested in seeing how the other half lives ;) I have tried to do a fairly indepth review on the knockoff taktik 5 cases both aluminum and plastic over at https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1526655/

TakTik Extreme sitting on a $200.00 Rokform stand.
I think the $29.00 Motorola stand is better. :p

Everyone that received their TakTik Extreme from Lunatik. Does your case have a flat black finished area on the inside of the Gorilla Glass at the top and bottom around the home button/ear piece or is you case clear in these areas and can see glue under the glass?

Just something I was wondering.

how are the quality of the pictures taken with the Taktik Extreme through the smaller camera hole?

And I'm pretty sure that the cut outs for the camera holes should have been this

The pictures are fine and all of the TakTik Extremes have the smaller hole over the camera.

According to their site, only a quantity of the Taktik Extremes will have the holes flipped

https://www.lunatik.com/products/taktik-extreme?variant=91

"Q: The rear bezel flash/camera inserts on my TAKTIK Extreme appear to be flipped. Will this affect the ultra-protective features or functionality of my phone?
A: No. A quantity of our TAKTIK Extreme rear bezels were manufactured with the flash/camera insert holes flipped but this will not affect the ultra-protective design of the case, nor the functionality of the phone, including the camera or flash. Please be in touch with info@lunatik.com if you have any issues."

I guess I got one of the crappy flipped ones.

I'm going to call LunaTik tomorrow and request a replacement.

Hi, im just passing by google and lucky enough to find this intense chat about taktik extreme, it does really help me before deciding which case to buy since i lived far far away from US

I just wonder, how water resist is this case?

Because when i see through some of picture posted here before, the camera port is still exposed, even though its better with the small hole than the previous version on iphone 4 series that really exposed.

I really need my phone to be water proof or at least, resist to a medium to heavy rainfall
Because being a culture photographer we should withstand any kind of weather since some rituals or ceremony are still proceed even on a rainfall.

My case is delayed in customs. I was sent this paper to get it... Posted on face book and got blocked. It shows there so called price and also shows alloy bezel....

After using the case for a little over a week, I too am disappointed. The bezel scratches easily. A fingernail is all that it takes to scratch it. The rainbow effects are terrible. The Lunatik Taktk is not worth the money.
