records

The previous model made some records...
"All results will be submitted to the Guinness Book of Records.
The numbers are as follows:
0-300 km/h = 14.53 sec
0-200 mph = 17.68 sec
300-0 km/h = 6.66 sec
200-0 mph = 7.28 sec
0-300-0 km/h = 21.19 sec
0-200-0 mph = 24.96 sec"

I guess breaking from 300 km/h (about 188 mph) in 6.66 secs might take the decimal point out of that nmber... ;)

The only car that competes on performance is the Bugatti Veyron (current top speed record holder, took it from Koenigsegg) and it is even pricier..

By the way CvK's name is German (his ancestry is from there even though the family have been Swedish for generations) and in German a literal translation is "king's egg".

Can you really call a car that costs a mere $1,890,000 a "Hypercar"?

Sounds more like a high-end Supercar to me. True "Hypercars" should start around the $5m mark.

You don't believe the US, aus, Russian , South korean versions were as good ;) maybe the France or Chinese versions will lift the bar .....

I've been watching the Top Gear UK since 2004 and watching Top Gear without Clarkson, Hammond and May is not the same imo. And I believe imdb agrees with me. Cheers.

Real life

I'd get one, but 1. it will likely get stuck in traffic like my Ferraris, and 2. I want auto-drive.

Forget IMDB, the only format that works is the UK one. I was being sarcastic, I work for the BBC.

Supercar + Hybrid drive = Hypercar

Neonode (NEON) is the optical touch display

Great article!
I did some research last night on the company that makes the touch sensor in the dashboard. This is a small relatively unknown tech company. When I read that the CEO of Koenigsegg said this I got excited.

“We only work with the highest performing systems on the market and chose the Neonode zForce touchscreen because of the superior touch performance and optical properties it enables”, says Christian von Koenigsegg , Founder and CEO of Koenigsegg.

I did some more work. This is a undiscovered GEM.

I am buying 100K shares of Neonode over the next few days! Shares trade at $3 on the Nasdaq.

How do they even make money??? All the material, parts, labor, R&D, marketing, sales... certainly costs more than the $150million they'll make from the sale of this car...

Clearly they do. They have been in business since 1994. This car is their 11th model. According to the Wikipedia page, they make a profit on each car between $580,000-2,210,000 per car.

Koenigsegg's limited edition CCXR Trevita sold for $4,850,000.

At one point they were going to buy SAAB from GM, so they clearly had some cash.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koenigsegg

A friend of mine's boss has a Koenigsegg CCXR. He told him that routine service where they flew the mechanics to where he lives to change the oil etc... cost him $30,000.

Well I was interested when I heard it had nearly 1800hp... (slackers couldn't have crammed 18 more in there??) :p and the 0-400kph in 20s will be great for when that guy in the far left lane finally pulls over to the right to let the mass of frustrated drivers behind him finally exceed 80Kph...

but now I hear this... Carplay support... moves the practicality scale sooo close to the "TAKE MY MONEY!!!1!!!11!!" level.

Now I only need to find out if it comes with the Top Gear wing.

I gotta visit several banks and make hasty withdrawals. ;)

Oh boy 1,800HP!!! I wonder what the insurance rates are going to be for that speed demon?

I think is cheaper to not insure it and just pay out. Lol

Anyways in for 10
In my dreams :)

A Free iPhone with the car?

Expensive cars should come with (one or even two) free iPhones. That will be a real nice advert for car as well as car play. I think Hyundai gave an iPad with car manual with one of their expensive cars.

Oh, I would love to gun this thing after a Prius in front of me moves out of the fast lane. The Honda Accord I drive doesn't do the job.

This car is unfortunately way out of my price range. If I never bought another car in my life, I still don't think I could afford this.

Now, if I could afford it, the CarPlay support would be a huge plus.

Aren't all their cars technically, "limited edition?"

You're telling us that one oil change costs more than the yearly salary of many people in this country?

Wait let me just go sell my Saab 9-3 and buy this! Carplay makes all the difference.

No but seriously how many people will actually own this car like ever? 20-30 rich mofos maybe.
