Wow, this topic really brings out the worst in people. My thoughts...
First, MMS is not dead. Whoever said that is simply wrong/obtuse. While I don't have more recent data, there were an average of 1 million MMS messages sent daily in late 2006 in the UK alone. I have no reason to believe that these numbers are declining significantly. If you do, then please do tell. Meanwhile, this is about here and now.
Second, I'm sick to death of the "I don't use it so it's irrelevant" argument" which seems to be prevalent in these threads, not to mention many other topics. It is revolting product of an ego-centric mindset. MMS is very relevant to a lot of people and is standard on just about every camera phone in current and recent production.
Thirdly, the inevitable "you're beating a dead horse" posts. While I agree that it's considerate to search before you start a new thread, there's a good reason that this topic keeps coming up. Maybe that's even an indication that MMS isn't nearly as dead as some of you think.
Fourthly, forget floppy drives. That's hardware and thus irrelevant. MMS is software. It's software so simple that Verizon can get it right in all of their dumbphones. And BTW, you may prefer email, but SMS is so big that it's the very first icon on people's iPhones by default. Why not integrate MMS?
MMS is very much alive, very much used, and obviously desired by many iPhone users. I know this better than most because I'm an independent Mac technician and people ask me about this all the time. Real people - not geeks like us who frequent this forum. I think it's an embarrassment that the iPhone can't do MMS. Maybe you're too cool for MMS or you live in a bizarre-o world where everyone you know does their messaging entirely though email. It doesn't matter because this isn't about you so get over yourself and move to a different topic.
