i actually love these and would love to get one in this size but Do you guys think there will be a M1X version of this colourful 24” iMac

This is simply not true. You can boot from a Thunderbolt 3 drive e.g. a Samsung X5.
Have a read of this article. In particular this quote:

"This ingenious new boot process does have consequences, though. Failure of internal storage means failure of the whole Mac, which can’t then boot from an external disk, which lacks the essential iSC and can’t provide 1TR either".

For anyone getting or owning and M1 Mac I highly recommend Take Control of your M-series Mac. A lot of things are different. This book is more understandable than the Oakley article, but explains the same fact.

That is what happens when Apple gives product to YouTube "yes" men and women.
Huh? I was referring to reviews that were more critical…because the reviewer clearly wants something this product was never meant to be.

I think it was a brilliant move on Apple’s part to release bright colors of the iMac, and it’s for the same reason that people were excited when they released the initial iMac - people get tired / bored with the expected traditional computer colors. Back in the day, it was either beige or black, so the bright transparent colors were a huge departure and I ended up buying one of the green versions. Kept it for years before switching to a G5 tower, the original cheese grater design, which I think is still one of the best designs for a computer.

My wife and I are certainly in the target demographic, ready for a change from the silver / grays MBP’s, iMac and iPad Pro’s we’ve been using. But a new 24” iMac would end up being more of a dedicated home computer, given we both need mobility for work computers, and I already love my daily driver iPad Pro 12.9” 2018 (waiting for the 2021 version to deliver on Friday).

I’m sure the reviews are all positive but I’m not going to buy another iMac until they remove the chin and border. If that means buying something else then so be it.
Bye, Felicia. :p

But seriously, at this point you can buy your favorite monitor and a Mac Mini and get comparable, if not identical performance.

And you can attach the mini behind the monitor, giving you the much-lamented chinless look.

Agree. And I’m sure on the larger size models the “pro’s” will get their space grey option.

also I don’t mind the chin At all. I think if you want a computer without a chin just get a Mac mini plus a nice screen.

EDIT : ninja’d on the chin comment

A desktop where thinness was first priority. An automatic miss, based solely on principle.

Apple hinders themselves with design limitations to give us worse products and it's beyond annoying. I hope sales are terrible, since it's likely the only feedback that really gets them to pay attention.

"waaaaa! I'm such a Pro! I need black bezels on an entry level computer I'd never buy!"
All of a sudden the color pallet is rationalized as being so the iMac can blend in with household/office decor. WTF? Since when has this become an "entry level" computer? BS

Yep, it is VESA compatible.
No you can't. If you want to VESA mount an iMac with a stand, Apple needs to replace the entire back panel. Apple hasn't made removable stands in iMac (except the Pro) in about a decade.

But, some 3rd parties may have a compatible solution soon. VIVO makes one for the 27" iMacs.
