Yeah, it’s great that those in the group that are okay with or want the larger size get what they want. I don’t need the larger size, and I will never opt for it. I’m sure I’m not alone in that. Had Apple used the same tech and released the upgrade on both next year, no one would have even known to begin with.If they do that, everyone loses. You won’t get an 11” iPad with mini LED any sooner, but those who want a 12.9” one are denied that too. There have actually also been times when the smaller iPad Pro got something first.
The only time that happened was with the 2015 12.9” iPad Pro (1st gen) and the 9.7” iPad Pro released 4 months later in 2016. Pretty much across all of their products released together, the bigger one gets the better features first. They even just did it with the sensor shift in the 12 Pro Max, and they’ve done it multiple times between the two different sizes starting with the 6s plus.
