example. screenshot of the reddit guys video and a photo i just took of my OLED TV (with iPhone 12 Pro Max). i was going to highlight it but it's clear as day. the mini led is glowing up pixels that are meant to be dark. the OLED is only lighting up the bottle itself.

Countdown begins for the postings, from a dark closet at full brightness complaining about light bleed on MiniLed :). Damaged or irritated eyes, from staring at the display at full brightness from nose distance. Returning multiple times for imperfections, real or imagined. Im not buying this trash until MicroLed comes out, you're all Isheep for buying. Oh and Apple sucks because they don't... fill in the blank. I'll gloss over them because I like cheap entertainment.

People are obsessing over the OLED black levels too much. For one: the XDR has MUCH higher typical brightness and MUCH higher peak brightness
Peak brightness that 99% of people won’t even use, give me oled blacks and better contrast over peak brightness any day.

OH oh, don’t forget the Youtube videos with the astonished look thumbnails.

Is understandable if you use the iPad outside by the beach ,that peak brightness will be used by more than a 1% of the people. Would love oled on iPad but they need to up the resolution, 264 ppi on a 12.9 screen oled would still make text blurry

OLED phones already reach 1000 nits thereabouts
Either apple couldn‘t get enough oled panels to meet demand, or they took the cheaper option with mini led. 🤔

they couldn’t get enough 120hz panels for last year iPhones, so they waited for this year. 🤷‍♂️

I'm betting that 99% of the reviews (at least the "big" ones) will complain that the OS is way too underpowered considering the hardware.
They wouldn't be wrong. Hopefully, we'll hear something major at WWDC. iPad Pro have such an awkward launch cycle where the hardware is launched months before new software.

I think a move to 4K is Inevitable, whatever naysayers claim about viewing distance and quantifying what "retina" is

That mini LED display looks like it matches if not exceeds OLED.
Here we go again. OLED pixels can turn off completely how is mini led exceeding, you mean brightnes? Literally there are millions of pixel that can turn off in oled, individual pixels you can’t even see with your naked eyes compared to thousands of dimming zones in miniLED.
Granted OLED on the iPad won’t be good for outdoor use as it isn’t bright enough.

now i've watched those videos on a bigger (professionally calibrated display) .... you can see the blooming lol. ran the same videos on my iPhone 12 Pro Max + LG CX (OLED) and no blooming.

i hope it's just the poor camera quality because people are gonna be pissed once they get their own iPads.

So, a twice compressed video uploaded to YouTube is enough to write off the new screen before it’s even released 😂😂😂

Do you really think Apple will release a screen on their top-of-the-range device that doesn’t perform? 😂😂😂

OMG, stop it, I can’t breathe 😂😂😂

What? The new iPad especially the 12.9” is a huge leap. What other company is shipping a tablet with a processor that out performs the current 16 inch MacBook Pro? Also;
1. Mini LED screen
2. 5G
3. Wi-Fi 6
3.Thunderbolt 3 (up to 40Gb/s)
4. New and better front facing cameras than ALL current macs’s and previous generation iPads
5. M1 first 5nm processor that is 50% faster than the previous generation, sips power.
6. More RAM
7. Faster and larger storage options.

What exactly should they have done to impress you?
MacOS on it with both pen and at least rudimentary touch support.

Not full screen brightness and not sustained.

It makes sense why Apple is relegating cheaper OLED for the iPad Air in 2022. Mini LED can offer much higher brightness than OLED ever will and nearly match the blacks.

Prediction, Nebraska Furniture Mart will not be an Apple distributor for much longer!
I think you’ll be wrong on that. Unless they opened the person’s package and snooped how would the know what is in the box? It could have been someone got last years model at a discount. Not their fault whatever shipping company let it slip out.

OLED are not cheaper it’s more expensive to make than miniLed. Do you think those cheap TCL miniLed TV are selling for a loss? You need to get your fact straight.

Maybe iam blind but except black i cant see much difference in picture quaility when comparing my 12 mini with oled vs my old iphone 6s....

I'm sure you know more than supply chain analysts that do this for a living. 😄

When Kuo says iPad Air using OLED is close to current LCD cost, I'm sure he's wrong and you're right. 😄

Nearly matching the blacks isn’t nearly good enough. Go watch hdr content on your iPhone 12 max. The iPad xdr still won’t come close. For that you’ll want the iPad Air.
