Exactly, it happens with my Mac Pro (2013) since Catalina. The same happens with my 2018 Mini with Catalina. It's not a M1-only issue!
Happens with my Mac Pro (late 2013) and never with my Mac mini (2012). I think it's more of an OSX issue. Not even an M1 specific issue, I occasionally had the same problem with an Intel Mac Mini in the past. Mac Minis seem kind of cursed
Yeah my 2014 handles both my Asus 4K and 1080p monitors with no issues at all, including waking. My 2018 Mac mini can’t seem to wake the 4K for the life of it. I have to manually hit the input button for the 4K monitor to wake up. It’s really quite frustrating that my morning routine has been reduced to a keyboard tap and power button press...Mine too this afternoon. It's done it a couple times in the past month that I've had it. I've never had issues with earlier Minis I've had. I wonder if it's Big Sur?
Same here. Previous Mac mini was fine. Upgraded last year to the 2018 mini and had issues ever since. The same happens with my 2018 Mini with Catalina. It's not a M1-only issue!
Same for me.Happened all the time with my 2014 and 2018 Mac Mini but disappeared with my M1 Mini. I thought the problem was finally resolved but apparently I've been lucky.
And my 2012. I thought it was just me...The same happens with my 2018 Mini with Catalina. It's not a M1-only issue!
I I guess not! 🤣This article isn't really about you then, is it?![]()
My Mini (2011, Intel) already has this problem. It's connected to a SAMSUNG TV via HDMI. Many times I have to press-hold power to shutdown and reboot. The same happens with my 2018 Mini with Catalina. It's not a M1-only issue!
Same here. I thought it was just me and my Dell monitors!!!I've had this problem for years with my 2018 mac mini, on anything connected to the HDMI port. Both the 2018 and M1 mac mini use the same MegaChips MCDP2920A4 DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.0 converter chip inside.
As I understand it 4k60 is only available on MBP 13 (4 Ports) for 2020 and newer models… (See https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MUF82AM/A/usb-c-digital-av-multiport-adapter )The current iteration of Apple’s USB-C Digital AV multi port adapter is capable of 4K/60Hz. Originally, it would not do that, but they revised it specifically adding 4K/60 to the HDMI port.
