This actually makes sense. We heard reports a while ago that the “M1X” would have 2 versions: JadeC Chop (16 cores) and JadeC Die (32 cores). M1 Pro (16 cores) and M1 Max (32 cores) makes a lot of sense!

Now the question is if Apple will use chip binning for both (which I don’t se why they wouldn’t).

Ugh just keep the same naming convention Apple. M1X and M1Z - similar to iPhone vs iPad chips.

What limitations are you finding? Considering how well apple uses 8gb I can’t see 16gb not being enough. GPU is a pretty big deal because of what can be offloaded to it when rendering.

there’s going to be a day where everything is run from an iPhone. You just plug it into your screen and use it like a workstation.
The people like you who say this literally live in a hole where professional users who need a lot of RAM don’t seem to exist 😂

I would love a macOS version of what Dex does on a Galaxy. I think it would very useful.

This makes sense. The M1 brand is so strong and can be treated as a product itself.

You mean for the chips? Because the iPhone names themselves confuse people.
They could just call it M chip. We don't really need all of these names. Take a look at the Mac Pro. It doesn't list the actual processor number, but the speed and core count and just "Xeon W"

I was looking forward to hearing people say they were looking for the macbook "with the Mix chip"

There’s literally already android phones with 12-16 GB of RAM, just as much RAM as you can get on the current M1.
Not that big of a leap to say that in five years we’ll have phones with 32–64 GB of RAM, if not more.
Not saying this person is fully on the money here, I think we’re still far, far away from the reality they speak of, but just a note.
