I just want a MacBook that doesn't sound like a jet engine every time I launch MS Teams (while having 15 other apps going as well...but still).
Some of the blame on that has to land on MS. Teams code just seems to be horribly bloated. Who knows when they will come out with an Apple Silicon native version - but even on my work PC it is pretty laggy. The one device it works well on is my iPhone. I really hope MS rewrites Teams from the ground up.

What limitations are you finding?
Only 1 external screen, also some weird bugs like blinking. (resync caused, don't really know why) Having to change what USB-c port its in to get a picture sometimes.

Considering how well apple uses 8gb I can’t see 16gb not being enough.
You don't run the same things I do, 16G is bare, annoying, minimum, and my Windows PC's have more. (my desktop has 128G, and yes, I use it, mainly for VMs) I haven't bought an 8G machine in over a decade.
GPU is a pretty big deal because of what can be offloaded to it when rendering.
I don't do any serious rendering and very little rendering at all. And no serious gaming either. I'm an IT manager in a business, totally different usage of computers..

Teams constantly crashes for me. Its seems to crash very often when I try to post some C#/SQL code in a chat window.

Does anyone else ever wonder, just in passing, if MacRumors.com is actually part of Apple…

Or if Apple have a full-on writers room, delivering each latest instalment in the narrative, piecemeal to the rumour-mongers?
Apple is controlling all the leaks. They are mastermind behind it. Of course they are spending time on MacRumors as much as we do. All of a sudden, before the event we are getting hints for the 💻. Apple has decided to distract to customer over the weekend already. It’s a game they are playing.

They could just call it M chip. We don't really need all of these names. Take a look at the Mac Pro. It doesn't list the actual processor number, but the speed and core count and just "Xeon W"
Oh yes. Because that would work very well.
God if there was a marketing meeting like that, but to be a fly on the wall.
“You see we have this regular chip for the MacBook Air, and I think we should call it M1.
And then for the higher end version for the MacBook pros and the higher end IMAX, I think we should call it… the M1.
And then, for the big beast, the one we’re going to put in a Mac Pro with 32 CPU cores and 128 GPU, I think we should call it… the M1.”

there’s going to be a day where everything is run from an iPhone. You just plug it into your screen and use it like a workstation.
I forgot this part. Not happening with digital computers. As phones advance, so will computers, and their usage. physics is physics. If anything, your phone will become a remote terminal of some large computer you have back at home instead once we have fast enough wifi/cell access.

....Take a look at the Mac Pro. In fact let me help you since I know you wont.

They are all "Intel W". Apple can do the same with M1. Just list CPU and GPU core counts. What do you expect will happen when the get to the Mac Pro Apple Silicon version? M1 Pro Max Super Duper Maxed Version? No, just say M1 with 64 CPU and 128 GPU.

That's what they're doing already. The A15 in the iPhone 13 isn't quite the same A13 as the one in the iPhone 13 Pro.

Such silly names and this is what happens when you let a marketing dept dictate this stuff. It needs somebody with enough authority to kill this nonsense before it grows. Steve would never allow Apple chips to be called such silly names. I mean, "M1 Pro Max". Come on, this is a joke right?
Yes, they should get the USB committee to come up with names for them.

M1/M1 Pro/M1 Max are like i5/i7/i9. There are variations within each family, just like the M1 has 7- and 8-core CPUs.

The naming convention won't work with the Mac Pro class chips. So instead of just adding to confusion where the $50,000 Mac Pro will need to have a name of M1 Pro Max Super Edition, just say M1 with X CPU and Y GPU.

As if Apple would call it just an M1. The iPad Pro chips had separate names too.

Can’t wait to get my Macinnotch Notchbook Pro M1 Powernotch Max with 480p webcam and a notched trackpad with emojinotch display it will be the best Notchbook they have ever made!

That’s until the Notchbook MiniNotch comes out….
Notchbook Pro. This makes sense. As Steve said during the unveiling of the Intel MBP, it's right we put into the title what it is so that everybody knows it's a Mac. Likewise we need everybody to know it's a notch. Thus.
